But anyway, Adam Schefter just reported on Sunday NFL Countdown that Nmandi Asomugha will have his contract voided with the Raiders and will become a Free Agent this year due to not meeting certain incentives in his contract and the Raiders cannot hit him with the Franchise Tag either.

Even though we're not sure about the status of the next CBA, players can still become FAs although they probably won't be able to sign deals until the CBA is done.

WTH is Al doing? Get rid of the coach, now get rid of the best player on the team. What a donkey.Comment

Schefter's article "Playoffs are a last bit of normal NFL"
Until there is a new collective bargaining agreement -- which almost no one is expecting for months -- there will be no free agency. Teams will not be allowed to shop for new players, players will not be allowed to sign with new teams and any player movement will be shut down....
Until there is a new deal, injured players cannot rehab at team training facilities. Each is on his own, forced to supervise his own rehabilitation to make sure he is on track for next seasonAaron

All I know is the Texans are one of the most profitable teams in the NFL. The Texans secondary suck. The Texans NEED Aso.
They should give him whatever he wants. McNair has yet to make a big FA splash and needs to do it this offseason with Aso out there. The fans will be beyond pissed if they aren't doing everything they can to get this guy.Comment

Saints gonna have an interesting offseason, 28 Free Agents according to the current CBA with about 8 of those guys being some who contribute regularly although I see most of those guys staying. Prolly try to restructure Bush's contract if they want him still and get a new deal done for Brees.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

I think you can argue for ANY team needing Asomugah. That said, the Steelers desperately need a CB. He'd do well in our system, too.Comment

Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency/Offseason Moves Thread.
It says that teams can't shop for 'new' players, is there a loophole that will allow Oakland to give Nnamdi a big money deal before the new CBA?
I'd hate to see Nnamdi go, but, honestly, the Raiders could put that money to better use. The team is better, but the run defense is bad, and the O-Line and receiving corps could use work. Shutdown corner might be a luxury they could think twice about.
Man, it doesn't even sound good when you look at it that way. They don't even have a first to replace him with. I still think he remains a Raider, though.Comment

He would do well anywhere. The best CB in the league is now a FA and I can just imagine how many teams are going to throw money his way. I wished we never signed Dunta Robinson an saved that money for someone who is actually good like Nnamdi.Comment
