    Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 Review

For the past couple of years, the quality of the once mighty Pro Evolution Soccer franchise has been dropping at an alarming rate. It felt like the developers could not decide what the game wanted to be -- simulation or arcade -- and therefore the end product became a confusing smorgasbord of both. In other words, this year's title needed to escape the gaming doldrums before the series as a whole was marginalized forever.

Thankfully, PES 2011 gives notice that the PES series is not dead. PES 2011 is the best PES of this console generation by a country mile. However, it's not yet the gold standard all over again. It's a very good game in its own right, but dig deeper and you'll find some frustrating flaws that prevent this game from being an excellent one.

I think the atmosphere by now should be a lot better.

Goals and gameplay buildup has always been more realistic on PES.

PES is definately back, i played FIFA 11 online, then PES 2011, you can't go back if you like simulation sports games!

the only big issue i have with pes is that the crosses are way too fast and dangerous, other than that a great game of football! really looking forward to PES 2012 now...

Good review and I think it's clear that PES is headed in the right direction finally. Hopefully after taking such strides forward they keep going in that same direction and we get an even better simulation next year.

The counter-attack is a thing of beauty in this game. Seeing players push forward in swarms reminds me of the first 2 COD games.

Nice review. I just ordered my first ever copy of PES after playing FIFA since 2010. Looking forward to learning this title.

that was a really good review.

I pretty much agree on all points except dumb teammate AI. I think the teammate AI is very smart both defensively and offensively. I use Milan a lot, and Zambrotta is constantly making runs down the wing to deliver crosses.

The speedy wingers do need more breakaway ability, and an upgrade for the referees is needed.

As sad as that konami don't have the licenses to officially correct the teams and its logo. That can be rectified by downloading and installing PESEdit patch. Just google it. They update like every 2 weeks with latest transfers, kits and **** whatever.

PESEdit patch is only for the PC correct?
