How do you score with Paul Pierce?
I'm having a hard time understanding Paul Peirce game. It seems like all hes does is crazy shots in an attempt to get to the foul line (where they are automatic). When he misses a 3 point shot its normally a brick (like hitting the front of the rim). His footing/form is unorthadox sometimes which makes the 3 look even worse. Im using real % to remove shot stick timing from the equation. I don't have this problem with Allen? Please teach me how to play with Peirce.. Im having trouble making him the top scorer with Allen and KG on the floor.Tags: None -
Re: How do you score with Paul Pierce?
Try going to the practice court and get his release down. Also, Pierce is more of a mid-range shooter or attacker, this is where you should be taking MOST of his shots from. 3's should only be taken if he's WIDE open.
Try getting him in iso's at the elbow or around the free throw line area, maybe even a post up here and there. -
Re: How do you score with Paul Pierce?
You have to get his release down since it is awkward.
Also, Pierce loooooooves to shoot the ball around the elbow, usually a step back jumper.
Pierce's game is mostly driving to the hoop. He'll post up smaller SF but that's a rarity. He gets his points from driving the lane and/or pulling back for a jumper around the free throw line.
Pierce can shoot the 3-ball, but again, if you haven't learned his release yet, you'll brick those shots all day. Allen's shot is smooth, Pierce's is kind of clunky. Like Phins said, head into practice and just shoot with him for about 20-25 minutes to get a good flow.
Also, he has a strange free throw release, so learn that as well.Comment

Re: How do you score with Paul Pierce?
^^Exactly^^ All I do with him is stepbacks. And I then counter with a step-back n' drives, step-back and1 anitmation, step-back n' step-through for the jumper. But once you get his release down he is really hard to stop.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: How do you score with Paul Pierce?
Offline, Pierce is a beast for me. He's a pretty great 3 point shooter in this game and I got his release down for offline. Definitely attack the elbows and pull-up with him.
Online, it's a little bit harder. I can't for the life of me get him to shoot well from the 3 point line (best game I've had with him I think he hit 2 out of 3, but every other time it's a horrible horrible brick).NFL: Bills

Re: How do you score with Paul Pierce?
triangle away from the rim for the step back, then L2 plus R-stick away, then release L2 and R-stick forward
If im not mistake.... but Im having a hard time getting the and-1 animation on block happy defenders. Had no problem in 2k10.Comment

Re: How do you score with Paul Pierce?
Use the right and left stick toward the defender. That's what I been doing. But also Jesus. I stop using the triangle as the stepback anymore. I feel it locks me in to losing my dribble (sitting duck). I use the right stick away from the rim. Then I can use the pump fake by canceling the move. That sets up the stepback dribble move keeps my dribble live. So I can chain other moves together if I need to.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

And as far as drawing the foul, does the defender have to be aggressively jumping forward or is it like previous yrs?Comment

Re: How do you score with Paul Pierce?
Im not sure what you mean with this method of stepping back. right stick away? thats a jumper. left and right stick away does the step back jumper that you can cancel... is that what you mean?

I've seen the and1 animation done tons of different ways. I've seen the defender go straight up in the air. And still get the and1 animation to trigger. To me I feel as though if you press triangle to block a shot. You can trigger the animation no matter what.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

How on earth do you not know how to score with Paul Pierce. Do you not watch basketball and happen to be new to this game or something?Comment

Re: How do you score with Paul Pierce?
Yes thats what I mean. But I'm also talking about the stepback dribble. After a few steps (R stick away from rim). The Stepback dribble will look exactly like I'm doing a stepback jump shot.

Re: How do you score with Paul Pierce?
I'm able to score with him now.
See, he isnt as athletic as say Dwane Wayde and family, so getting around defenders (who are often good) was difficult.
He had the 3 point marker on him, but hitting 3 pointers while guarded = impossible.
I figured it out thanks to you guys. The step back.
I practiced for a while using the triangle and moving the stick away from the rim, peirce takes a wide step back to create space for a 12-14ft jumper. These go in at a high percentage.
The rest of the time he does crazy shots at the rim which trigger a foul. easy points at the line.
I also stopped taking 3 pointers at all with Peirce and rely on Allen/Robinson to do it. Peirce misses at a very high percentage unless he is completely open or "hot".
Now Peirce scores 28pts per game as opposed to 6.Comment
