Revamping the No Huddle

I loved the addition of the no huddle and the ability to choose plays from any formation. However, I’d like to see it more realistic next year with regards to personnel groupings

We’ve all seen the no huddle when the CPU comes out with 5 WR, then they no huddle and the next formation is an I Form with WRs at HB, FB and TE. Or they come out in the Wildcat and then no huddle and the HB is QB for the rest of the drive. This needs to be fixed.

I’d just like to see the no huddle formation options limited to realistic formations. A good starting point would be to only allow formations with the same or more WRs than the original formation. For instance, if the opening formation is Shotgun 3 WR, then as the no huddle progresses, the only formation available should be similar singleback/shotgun formations with 3, 4, or 5 WR. If the first formation is Shotgun 5 WR, the next formation should NOT be allowed to be an I Form. This would eliminate the CPU having WRs playing FB, HB and TE.

This limitation should be based off personnel and not formation. So if I use a package sub and put a HB in a Shotgun 5 WR formation, I would then be allowed to use all 4 WR and 5 WR formations after the no huddle.

Also, when no huddling after the Wildcat, the game needs to realize who the “real” QB is. The QB should switch back to his normal position after the Wildcat play.

Re: Revamping the No Huddle

And to add further to that... I have seen a lot of college football and the only time I see a team no-huddle as they do in '11 is during the final seconds of a half or game. They no-huddle at such a break-neck pace in this game that it is completely absurd.

S-L-O-W down NCAA... it's no-huddle, not a freakin' Chinese fire drill.

And... to add further still... up everyone's stamina rating. I go into half time w/ guys in the yellow and start the second half and they are still in yellow! Really? If college players were in as lousy shape as they are in the game... then nobody would be watching it.

These are young men... 18-22 years old... they work out year round... but in this game they get tired {yellow} and seriously depleted {red} after just a few plays... even worse if you no-huddle.

Fix these issues... ALL of them... and the game will be much more realistic.

So, have you never seen Oregon play?

Or Auburn?

Or Michigan?

etc, etc

Those 3 teams play just as fast as the fastest CPU no huddle team. Most teams are slower than a lot of the CPU teams, but there are absolutely some out there that are just as fast. Hell, Cal needed to fake injuries (and I'm sure there are a lot of other teams that do it, but just didn't publicly admit it) to slow down Oregon's pace.

I'd also like the play call screen to some how be out of the way, so I can see what look the defense is in before i pick a play.

Yes, I've seen a lot of Michigan... here's a video that perfectly illustrates what I am talking about. This is 2009, ND vs Michigan. Most drives are cut up on You Tube, but this one has the whole drive and this is at the end of the game. Note how the lineman walk up to the line of scrimmage and calmly stand there awaiting the play call.

They will turn and look at Forcier and then get set. Some of the WR's jog into position, but nobody is going at the break-neck speed seen in '11... and this is in the final minutes of the game.

The way they do it in '11 it's like every snap is in the final seconds and they're trying to kill the clock for a game-winning FG. This video shows how it should be.

My personal favorite was one game the cpu converted a fake punt on 4th down and then went no huddle with their punting team

RichiRod has 3 different tempos that they like to use and with Forcier last year he usually used the medium tempo. With Robinson, he frequently uses the "jet" tempo which is about as fast as what you see in the game.

My favorite no huddle thing was really crazy. They were in 4 wide and got down to the 2 yard line. They no huddled into a goal line set with little receivers @ TE and FB. I stopped them on 1st and goal. They no huddled into the goal line set again and then this happened:

EA Sports: NCAA Football 11 Video

I couldn't get a better angle, but I looked @ this very closely in instant replay. No player other than the center touched the ball (how many centers can say they have a rushing TD?). What happened was the no huddle screwed up the players and the QB never got set properly. The center snapped it anyway, and since there was no QB, he just kept it and fell into the end zone. They got me with the ole center sneak play.

Ahhhh. Good times!

EDIT:
Even looking @ the line, their setup is something like this:
G C G T T TE
