Is it possible to make jumpers in online play?

I'm not trying to be sarcastic. I play with the Warriors and in Ranked games, I find it is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to make jumpers. Any tips?

If you know each players release, you will make most mid range shots and about 40% of your 3's (wide open)

just got to know their timing.

Yes it is. I don't even play online that much but i can hit open jumpers with the Magic. They expect me to cheese with Dwight Howard and i do the exact opposite lol.

But controls always seems to be less responsive/lag. Should I be releasing early to make up for this?

Everybody's experience seems to vary but yes, ever so slighty. I hardly even notice i release like 0.05 seconds early. And yes i play offline and online and i dont have a problem switching back and forth.

Each player has a kind of flow to their jump shot, if you look at them you can tell where you want the ball to be released, in rythym at the highest point.

Depends on the player...i for one can't shoot with Gallinari (online or offline) I just can't figure out his release point....i can shoot with the other knicks with no problem...

Turn Shot Feedback on in the Presentation settings. It helps to figure out what your timing should be online and the feel of their jumper online.

Re: Is it possible to make jumpers in online play?

The weird thing is, in my league games my team is #1 in FG% and #2/3 in 3P%. We're a nasty squad that takes no prisoners off the block. But in regular ranked or unranked games, the only guys it seems I can hit jumpers with any consistency are Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Bryant. Which is... pretty lame. I don't know what's different if anything about the league settings but I'm absolutely wet from anywhere on the court in the league and still can't get anything to fall in other games. I actually suck with a lot of jumpers offline, too. Only in the league am I sick with it like last year or 2K9.

Jump shooting Online is very hard to me, especially if you play with different teams. I may have one game in which my shooting is decent, but most others I struggle (even with good shooters and wide open looks).

PS, I even use the Shot Indicator.

Gallinari's isnt on the way up, he hangs there for a split second ala, Udrih, Troy Murphy, Rip, and BG's shots. You just gotta hold it a bit longer. I havent been able to consistantly shoot with Gallo till this year lol

So with Gallo his release is at the top of his jumpshot?! I've always thought it was in the middle

I can totally relate. I have little experience online but that was my primary issue when I was connected. After so much offline play and complete control and response to my jump shots, the online just completely threw me off. I could never tell when the correct release was supposed to be in accordance to the delay.

Like Phenom1990 said earlier in this thread, I'd highly suggest turning on Jumpshot Feedback in the presentation menu to learn Gallo's correct release. The feedback is not nearly as obtrusive as I thought it'd be and it has helped me perfect the releases of Richard Hamilton and Ben Gordon, who both shoot the ball ten times later than anything I ever tried with them in 2K10.

I might have to put on shot feedback myself. I've never had any trouble with any player before last night. I completely struggled with Jason Terry (and a little with Dirk until I got it last night).

I put the shot feedback on for one game, and it just looks arcadey IMO. I have no trouble gauging the release online b/c that's the only mode I play, so now its easily recognizable as to why I missed or made a shot, based on the shot animation.

Yeah, I just played online today for basically the first time since release, and jumpshooting is what killed me. The 3 guys I played were all pretty poor defensively, but I couldn't make them pay because I couldn't hit the wide open jumpers consistently. I have no problem hitting them off line. Man I swear I should be 3 - 0 right now because of all the open jumpers I had, but instead I'm 0-3. It's so frustrating. I like the fact that online isn't arcadey this year, but the experience is still ruined for me because of this (and the passing is too slow to get proper ball rotation).
