I can't imagine anyone picking Dallas with Kitna under center. This is the week my pick of MJD in FFL pays off.

Jags win. If the Cowboys run D does not improve and MJD gets going, this one could be ugly.

This is a game where the Cowboys must deploy the 3-RB monster if they want any chance of surviving. Don't do anything cute, Garrett, just simply run, run, playaction, and run all day and they should be able to pull this one out, even if it is a close one. In a perfect world, Barber, Jones, & Choice should each get 10-15 touches and simply wear the Jags out.

The Dallas defense also has to step up. There's no excuse for Ware & Ratliff having been completely non-factors in last game except that the Jints have an exception OL but the Jags don't have that same luxury so hopefully D'Ware & J-Rat get going!

elgreazy1 - the only time JC deploys the 3-rb monster is when the Cowboys are already out of the game and he just wants it to be over with. And it's a lose-lose situation then, if they do well then it's only because of the situation and it eats up the clock, if they don't do well it's 3 and out. See the past MNF game as a perfect example.

As for the defense stepping up, it's not a matter of not having the ability to, they don't have the desire to. I think that's pretty apparent. I had a friend that speculated part of it for the teams like the Cowboys who are playing for pride at this point is that we may not have a season next year so no one is playing for a contract but I don't know if it's that or simply a lack of any leadership at the top.

Either way if the loser gets to hire Gruden or Cowher theory holds true I'm going to be rooting for the Jags wholeheartedly this Sunday!!

The Jags have no defense. Whatever the Cowboys want to run, we can't tackle or cover. We can barely rush the passer.

That, my friends, is why the Cowboys will win.

The way this season is going, this will end in a 9-9 tie.

The Cowboys won't need to run the ball 1 time to win the game. Line up an throw every play and you will destroy the Jags defense.

Sadly, I know. Garrett has no concept of calling a good game or using the run to set up the past which simply baffles me seeing as he saw first hand every week on the sidelines what Emmitt and his skills did to help open up the field for Aikman, Irvin, Novacek & more. Another oddity, where did Witten go in terms of gameplanning? The offense uses him as an afterthought instead of a lightning rod.

I agree with you here. The defense has no killer instinct aside from Keith Brooking, but he's a short-term guy with his age and decline in skills. Ware is clearly one of the best - if not the best - 3-4 OLB in the game, yet he never seems to play with fire. Granted, not every guy is going to be high-intensity & in-your-face like a Merrimen (in his prime), Ray Lewis, Kevin Greene, etc but at some point these guys need to simply get nasty and this goes for the offense, too.

There is simply no "umf" to anything the Cowboys do; no physicality, no sense of showing urgency or continuity, etc. Blame it on the coaching staff, the culture the owner has created or the players but for some reason, none of this is there. This team will never elevate themselves until they get that nasty streak that makes teams fear playing them.

As for the coaching staff next year, call me crazy but I'd love to see Gruden out there and in a way he'd be a perfect fit. First off, he's an attention/media whore so what better place than the center of the football universe in Dallas? Now in terms of coaching, I remember the ultra-productive teams he coached in the Raiders & Bucs. The Cowboys offense is similar to that of Gruden's Raiders: no elite players but plenty of great players who create mismatches when packaged as a whole. Romo = Gannon, Garner + Wheatley = Barber + Jones + Choice, Rice + Brown + Porter = Austin + Williams + Bryant - and so forth. And much like Gruden inheriting the Bucs D, he'd inherit a productive defense that simply needs a competent coordinator. The knock on Gruden is his penchant to draft QBs and his inability to draft which ultimately led to his downfall in Tampa, but that's where JJ's meddling ways could help.
