This Year Feels Weird

Am I the only one that just isn't excited about Madden this year? Typically, within a week of release day I am getting juiced for some NFL video game action. This year just feels different...

I bought NCAA and have played it constantly and love almost every minute of it. On the flipside, my interest in Madden has taken a nose-dive in hopes of something decent in 2011.

Anyone feeling similarly?

Can't say I feel the same. From the moment I played the demo, I knew I was going to love this game. I'm driving an hour and a half to pick up a copy tomorrow morning. Super stoked.

I feel the same way. I've been enjoying NCAA and wasn't overly impressed by the Madden demo so not feeling like I have to get it. But I probably will because I get it every year. I'm pretty sure I can find it this weekend if I want it...but I just don't have the urge to go out and get it.

I am anxiously awaiting for Tuesday. Its going to be hard watching the Hall of Fame game this weekend and not being able to play Madden.

I do agree. I wasn't excited about last years until I played in a little tournament. So I bought it... and played half of a season and a few games against human opponents and that's it. This year just feels the same... I won't get it this time.

I'm also not really pumped up for it this year. Like everyone else, I am usually foaming at the mouth for the last 3 weeks or so leading up to release. This year I really don't even care. I am enjoying NCAA quite a bit, as well as Starcraft. I probably won't even touch Madden til September.

I think this year is much different. There isn't a game breaking feature like in previous maddens. I mean gameplan is a feature but it doesn't have that pazaaz that gets me excited. This year it sounds like they added things to gameplay and the online features(which not everyone enjoys due to cheezing). I'm getting a little more excited but I would normally have madden pre ordered about two weeks ago. This year I haven't even pre ordered. I bought NCAA but have hardly played it because I just got a PS3 and have been playing The Show non stop. I bought NCAA with a 50 dollar gift card to gamestop so it really didn't cost me much. I will prolly end up picking up madden on Tuesday though because I always end up getting excited for the NFL. I also have a couple games to trade in so the price of madden won't be as severe.

I'm with the OP on this one. I think once I heard that there were no significant changes to offline franchise, I tuned this game out and focused on NCAA 11, which happens to be a great game. The demo for Madden 11 did nothing to really entice me to buy it opening day, so I'll stick with Madden 10 and look to get 11 later in the year when it goes on sale.

I'd have to say after playing the demo for awhile, I'm just not all that interested in buying the retail game.

However, even with just the demo, the game play does seem fairly solid. And I think the game could be alright. But two things that really hurt the game at least for me is...the seeming lack of adaptive AI, and not enough attention this year to off-line franchise mode.

My son is buying the game, so maybe I'll borrow the game for awhile, and see if it grows on me.
