I gave it a four. It would have been higher if you had asked this question before the latest patches. Unfortunately for me, the patches made the game worse - not better hence my response.

I'm so confused with this game I really don't know what to give it. One minute you're running around blatantly head butting people and the next minute you can start a fight off with Foreman vs Ali and have Foreman throw two jabs to get range and come over with the right hook stunning what you would figure is an arcade invincible Ali with Foreman jumping on him and knocking him down. (Which is sweet by the way, got my friend with that about 3 times. He still doesn't get it, lol). So you don't know what to think about the game. I give it a 7

Me and my buddy have been playing this almost every other day since it came out and I give it a 7. It's got a lot going for it, but ultimately it's just a step on the path towards a great boxing game. This one has too much wrong or missing to grade it as exceptional.

I listed a ton of reasons in that EA thread, I don't feel like copying and pasting it all here.

I went with 8. I still play the game to this date (that says a lot). It's probably my favorite game this generation of consoles.

I sold it after 2 or 3 weeks. Waste of money.

I enjoyed 1,2 and 3 much more than 4.

I'm not saying 5 will suck though...I'll always give any boxing game an honest go. Counter-window was a game-breaker for me, as was the sluggish non-snap punches that seemed to have no effect unless you were watching ultra-slow-mo replay.

In real boxing I can tell when someone gets whooped good. I was jumping involuntarily when SSM nailed Floyd in the 2nd round.

I'd give it a 9 after patches, and 8 before. It is not far from being everything I could want in a boxing game. The engine is good. The AI was good. The online was solid. Career mode was decent but it should be better. Teddy Atlas was good. The fights were a good blend of simulation and arcade (or Rocky-like action). The roster and post-release support were great.

I'm still not convinced that there will be a FN5. A lot will depend on sales of their MMA game.

Additionally, a lot of PS3 gamers feel as if they have been "burnt" by EA over the disconnect issue which has yet to be resolved (and probably won't be). These consumers will probably showing their frustration by keeping their money in their pockets.

hey al, im not trying to flame up on your comment but thats nonsense...the punches have some pop and then some......anymore pop and it will an arcade game

and yeah i believe the counter window needs to be improved...but theres a few online players that really exploit that part of the game...and theres a way around that as well...

i gave it a well desrving 8 ...i still play the game and im happy that most the cheaters have traded the game in.....im getting way more quality matches right about now...

..and who would have not screamed when shane cracked mayweather in the 2nd....its was somn we never saw happen to floyd in prolly his whole career....

if you ever decide to pick that game up i wil show you the zap in the punches...lol

punches didn't have any pop I'm on a least 12 different gaming site and I read the same thing All said. There is gimmick punch and exploits"hyper-punching"

yeah shakyr... the punches have pop!..its all on what you really see...... not all boxers punch the same way..some boxers have a bunch of pop on either their jab punches..or their hooks....you use a boxer right you will see the compliments

if you go in there thinking you will win with tysons jab vs. a lennox or a forman jab or an ali jab...you get what you derserve..and lets not forget if a match is going long rds.....its a boxing game y'all!

im guessing they wil put more zap in there but it shouldnt be too much or lets just bring "king of the ring" again....( which i did enjoy btw)...lol
