    Conference Restructuring in Motion...

    http://texas.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1090747

It seems rather likely that this offer, which stands to add six Big 12 teams to the Pac 10, will go through (mostly for the added TV revenue that the teams will get, combined with the recent turmoil in the Big 12).

How do you think this will affect the game? Will they have to patch it in or will they have it resolved before the game ships?

Any realignment agreement done this close to the season would not go into affect until another year or two. So it wouldn't change anything for the 2010-11 season.

If conferences restructure, we won't even see any real-life changes for a couple years. So the game won't change at all. If a school accepts their invitation, they have to give their current conference the heads up. I think I read somewhere that the Big East has a 27-month waiting period for a school to leave. So if any of these moves happened, they will not be on the game, there will not be a patch, etc. Because the moves wouldn't go into effect for at least 2 years in real life.

Ahh...good call. Didn't realize that. But still, interesting development for sure.

No kidding. Perhaps I don't follow college football close enough, but I definitely didn't see this coming. As a Pac-10 guy, this seems pretty exciting though .

16 team conferences are bad for football imo. Too many teams.

I agree you end up having teams not play each other. That is a terrible way to find out who the champion of the conference is.

If leagues are getting this big, why not mimic pro sports and have a top tier conference of 20-30 teams followed by lower tier conferences. Maybe conference championship or some kind of playoff could circumvent the BCS (I'm dreaming).

Agreed. I think 12 is a good number.

16 teams is way too many. It's like the Big East in basketball. If you have uniforms and a coach, you're allowed to play in that conference, geez. Let's go Providence and DePaul! Lol. 12 is perfect. Look at the Big 12, look at what the Big1T1en is trying to do.

The only thing good that comes out of a 16 team conference is each school will get $20mil in TV revenue. But I still think if the Pac 10 was to expand, I would only want 2 more schools to join.....not 6.

I saw this on goazcats.com earlier today. I don't like it. I especially don't like the idea of getting our butts kicked by Texas & OU in football every year.

Me too. You can have a conference championship and can play enough of the other teams in the conference. I would be fine if that is what the Pac10 and Big Ten wanted to go to.

If (when) something like this happens, I think EA should follow Madden '02's model:

When the Houston Texans franchise was added, they had you do an Expansion Draft after the first season of Franchise mode.

This could be done similarly in NCAA '11. They'd just delay the conference expansion one or two seasons, accordingly, in Dynasty mode.

Then again, there could be major issues with Custom Conferences. Lets say you add in a Teambuilder team to play in the Big XII in place of Missouri, then after season 1 you move to the Big Ten. Oops.
                              Predictions:

Nebraska Football: 12-2 (Big Ten Runner-Up & Capitol One Bowl Champions)

Kansas City Chiefs: 10-6 (1st in AFC West)
