    Breakout Players

I thought it would be fun to predict the breakout player on your team. It'd be nice to have some names to keep an eye on.

I'm talking about the Cedric Benson or Sidney Rice or Miles Austin of 2010. They don't have to be stars and pro bowl quality like those examples but just exceeding their expectations.

It has to be someone that hasn't lived up to the hype or has been constantly injured or just hasn't performed in the NFL yet. I don't want to see rookies.

My pick for the Patriots is Shawn Crable. He's an OLB with good size who was drafted in the 3rd round in 08. He still hasn't played in a regular season game due to injuries. I think with 3-years learning the Patriots system that he might finally be ready to shine.

I think this is the make or break year for him.

      JaMarcus Russell!

Seriously Jo-Lonn Dunbar LB's for the Saints. With Fujita gone he should get his chance.

Cameron Wake. He was arguably our most effective pass rusher last year and now with Porter and Taylor gone should be starting. Mike Nolan's defense made a player with a very similar skill set Elvis Dumerviille into a Pro Bowler. I think Wake should be getting double digit sacks this year.

I second this. JaMarcus is gone now, so he's next on the bust radar.

On the defensive side, don't be surprised to see Michael Huff's name a lot this year. He finally started making plays for us last year. He was a little inconsistent though. If he can be more consistent this year, I think he can at least be mentioned in the same sentence as pro bowl.

You might hear Trevor Scott's name more than a few times as well. It seems like the Raiders are gonna try a couple of formations that look like a 5-2 and a 6-1???? 1 with Brayton on the line with the other 4 D-linemen and 1 with the 4 defensive linemen with 2 DE's playing outside LB. That didn't work too well with Brayton back there, but Scott is more athletic than Brayton. We'll see how it turns out. It could be really good or really bad for us. Either way, as long as Scott is rushing the QB and not in pass coverage, he has a good chance at making a big play.

Cliff Avril. He has to show something this year now that major upgrades have been made all over the defensive line.

I think Early Doucet could have a monster year now that Bouldin is gone. Well as long as Leinart can get him the ball anyway.

                  Chris Long.

Really started playing well the last 8 games. That high motor better motor us to at least 4 wins.

                  Go Rams!

Don't know of players around the league but I can go with my own team: the Cowboys.

Anthony Spencer & Mike Jenkins come to mind mainly due to how they really came on towards the end of the season. If these guys can keep that momentum then the Cowboys will have a very tough defense with the pairing of Spencer & Ware and Jenkins & Newman flanking both ends of the field. Tashard Choice would be another player to throw in there but he's proved what he can do, now it's just about getting touches which is hard considering the log-jam of talented players in the RB slot.

My wild card for the Cowboys would have to be Martellus Bennett, though. IMO, this is his make or break season. He's had a few years to learn the offense and to learn from one of the best TEs in the game in Witten.

Oh we get more than one guy per team? LOL

I think Reggie Bush is prime for a huge year.(If he remains healthy) With them paying him as much as he's getting this year I have to imagine he's going to get a boat load of touches.

I think Alex Smith could surprise people since the 49ers have so many weapons now and he seemed to finally become a decent QB last season.

Also, I think Darren McFadden might, since Oakland now has a real QB (well, one that isn't the most sorry QB in the league).

Finally, Matt Moore from Carolina just might surprise people. He did well last season. Very well.

Choice before Felix? I think Felix Jones is going into the season as the starter with Barber moving back to the role he had with JJ. If Felix can stay healthy (big if) I think he'll be THE name to remember on the Cowboys.

I don't know about the Ravens. Maybe Kruger as he moves to DE but there are going to be so many moving parts on that defense that I doubt many have a chance to stand out besides the names already thrown around (Ray, Ed, Ngata, Suggs). Everybody knows all the names on the offense, including Oher even though he'll be moving to the Blind Side this year.

Always been a fan of Aroma since the Auburn days. I really hope this is his year.
