pro yakyu spirits pennant mode stories

post stories of games during your pennant mode. i just recently got pys 4 and am playing as the soft bank hawks. i'm 3-0 currently. i beat orix 8-1 and 8-5 then i beat raukenen (sorry for the spelling) 7-4 the best part was a cut scene where i hit a line drive off of the staring pitchers knee and one of his teammates carried him off the field on his back. never seen that before in a game.

I guess i'll post in here on my own. I restarted my pennant and switched to the Baystars. I was still using zone hitting for the first 2 games of my opening series with the Giants. Game 3 i started using the cursor and had my best game ever. I had a game winning single with my runner sliding around the catcher's tag to win 6-5 and complete the sweep. My next series was at the Carp. Game 1 I lost 1-0. game 2 was a 1-1 tie and then in game 3 I took advantage of a pitcher who was not in great form to win 8-0. next up the dragons on the road so we'll see how this goes. by the way through 6 games Murata has 10 home runs. I've only hit 2 though with the cursor

How many innings was your 1-1 tie? 15 innings? In pennant mode, can you choose the extra inning limit? In the real japanese league, isn't the inning limit 15 innings during the regular season? I know in exhibition mode you can choose between 9, 12, or 15 innings.

During the regular season theres a 12 innings limit.

scottyd7 I'm a little nostalgic when I hear you are playing PYS 4 because back then Saitoh Kazumi was still awesome.

Anyway I'm currently playing PYS 2010 with Eagles as my pennant team and the team is carried on the backs of Iwakuma, Tanaka and Nagai which in large makes up for a offense that is really subpar if not for Yamasaki, Teppei and Kusano. Hopefully the team will improve when my draft recruits can awaken.

At one time, wasn't this limit 15 innings? If I remember correctly, in the movie Mr. Baseball, a game was ruled a draw after 15 innings, not 12.

Did this regular season limit get changed from 15 to 12 at some point in the last 15 years or so?

I searched about the tie rule and you are right in the central league they may go up to 15 innings but in the pacific they only go to 12, However I'm not sure if they have changed this rule because I checked the only tie game for CL this year and it only played 12 innings so either it's a may or they have changed it.

Just curious if there is a way to simulate games in pennant mode. I am preparing to get going on mine (PY6, though I am currently WAYYYYY to immersed in the WBC) and was just wondering. Also a link to a good translation of the pennant mode screens would be awesome.

              Thanks Guys.

I don'r remember how it was in PYS 6 but I think 6 and 2010 are rather alike, Go to the match and choose starter/lineup and after that you should get a choice how to play the match pick the one that shows skip and with nothing highlighted in the picture. Then there a simulate to by choosing the calender and picking a date and pressing the first option but this mode doesn't give 15 points to your player after the match it seems so it should be avoided.

                See if that works

Perfect thank you, i'll test it later tonight. I've been playing since PYS4 just never really got into Pennant Mode and decided to change that this year.

Hrmm. Interesting. Perhaps Muka can weigh in on this. After doing some searching, one source says that in the central league, games may go fifteen innings, but if the game is still a draw, it must be replayed from the beginning at a later date and that tie games have virtually disappeared from the central league. This same source says that in the Pacific League, if a game goes twelve innings without a winner, the match is ruled a tie.

Here is the site, dated in 1998.

This must have changed since then, because this season, on April 21st, 2010. the Dragons and Swallows, both members of the Central League, had a 12 inning 2-2 draw.

A partial archive of an unofficial English blog that covered the Tokyo Yakult Swallows baseball team from 2008 to 2022

So perhaps now both leagues only play to 12 innings in the regular season. Hopefully someone can chime in on whether this rule has changed at some point since the movie Mr. Baseball was released.

Just to make some small talk here which teams are everyone playing with and why. I'll start I play with Rakuten Eagles mostly becase of starting pitching Iwakuma,Tanaka and Nagai is possible the best starting trio in PYS 2010 and they are a team that have only existed for a couple of years and are quickly becoming stronger. This the team I cheer on in the PL and it's mostly because of Tanaka he's a koshien hero and I love koshien so it no suprise there.

Also does anyone here have a favorite pitch PYS? I really love the drop curve it's a great strikeout pitch with plenty of movement that makes it hard to hit and it is easy to throw for strikes something I find is quite hard to do with the forkball which is a great strikeout pitch but leaving it in the zone is quite risky.

2 games into the swallows series and my skid continues. I got pasted 8-3 in game 1 and 5-3 in game 2. this game is relentless when things are going bad for you. Just when you think you have things under control it kicks in and trounces you. my pitching was really good through 6 games now it's starting to get torched.murata had 10 homers through 6 games none since then but he is still bating the high 400's but that average is dropping. defense is starting to come undone too. in game 2 of the swallows series 3 bobbled grounders in the outfield killed us. hopfully i can get to game 3 today and then the schedule isn't any easier next up is first place hanshin. i hope i can turn this around. the weird thing is that even though i have lost 4 in a row it has been the most enjoyable loosing streak in a game i have had. i know the baystars are not one of top teams so it seems right that i am struggling.

A losing streak to Baystars is hardly surprising and pitching problems is something that also seem to follow hand in hand. (PYS 4) For pitching you have everyone's (Tigers excluded) favorite junkballer Daisuke Miura which is a good starter and Terahara which is decent the rest is kinda abysmal if I remember correctly, Kroon is a good closer though and you get to play in a beautiful park.
