    Huge bug on World cup tournament

    To make things short, if i´m not mistaken, 1st and 2nd teams qualify to knockout round right?
    i finished 2nd with Costa Rica with 5 points and they made the 1st (usa) and 3rd (par) team move to next round. I got a message saying my team was eliminated from the WC.

    Wow! any logical explanation?

          that´s what i thought.
          Then it was a really bad bug.

          i don´t mind much since it was a "quick world cup tournament".
          But if this happened to my "full world cup game" after the whole elimination and exhibition matches i would be very angry.

                  It certainly sounds like a bug, but it's hard to know exactly what it is based on the info you gave. Did the second and third place teams have the same point total?

                  If so, then you get into tiebreakers -- head-to-head result first; if it was a draw, it comes down to goal differential (I think). If this was the case, it could be a bug in how the table is displayed when a tiebreaker is involved. If you were in sole possession of second place, then there's not much to say, other than the obligatory "I hope they patch it"...

                      Trust me i know the rules. I´m from Argentina and here we breath soccer

                      The group was a custom made group (random).
                      Pot A was Paraguay
                      Pot B was USA
                      Pot C was Costa rica (my user team).
                      pot D was Congo

                      1st match tied 1-1
                      2nd match won 1-0
                      3rd match tied 0-0

                      total points 5

                      the group finished

                      USA 7pints
                      Costa Rica 5points
                      Paraguay 3
                      Congo 0

                      USA and paraguay qualify for teh next round.

                      It´s a bug.... i hope it won´t be as frequent.

                          The standings you wrote down are impossible, you might have written them down wrong or there are other bugs at work but Paraguay would have to have 4 points given the results you had. If Congo had 0, that means they lost every game so Paraguay must have had a win for 3 points. That also means your only win had to have been against Congo. Since you tied your other matches, one of those would have had to have been against Paraguay so Paraguay would have to have earned at least 4 points. Of course your 5 points should have still qualified ahead of Paraguay's 4.

                              To be honest, this would never happen. USA and Costa Rica can't be in the same group. :P

                                  you are correct. i don`t remeber how many points did cong had. but those were the final standings.

                                  it was a random selection.. as i said on the 1st post.

                                  The good news is i tried a new WC with Argentina and this time it worked as deisnged.
                                  Hope it was a rare bug.

                                      No. This is unexcusable under any circumstances, custom tourney or otherwise. It happens one out of every 100 tournaments, that's one too many. It needs to be addressed.

                                          as i said i only played 2 WC.
                                          1 i had the bug and the 2nd one was fine.

                                          We will have to wait until more people start playing this game to see if is rare o is a huge one.

                                              Just saw the bug too. The #1 team was left out while the #2 and #3 teams moved on.

                                                      I don't know. They completely blew off the debt glitch in FIFA 10 manager mode, I wouldn't put it past them to just blow this off too.
