2010-11 Big East thread

We move on quickly!

Looks like Willard made a good first impression on the Seton Hall kids who were thinking about leaving early...

Re: 2010-11 Big East thread

I know a lot of UConn fans were disappointed that we couldn't get any of the top recruits like Knight or Lamb. Some of them are still holding hope that we can land Leslie, but I highly doubt it. I'd rather go into next season as underdogs anyways. Knowing that if we got Knight or Lamb, we would have been favorites to win the Big East IMO. If Oriakhi improves as a sophomore and Ater lives up to half of his hype coming into the season, the Huskies will be a much better team than last year's.

I believe last year's our main weakness was lack of leadership. The talent was there, I just don't think that the players who were supposed to be leaders took the responsibilities seriously (I'm talking to you, Jerome Dyson and Stanley Robinson).

Pretty bad article about Calhoun's current contract situation and his future with the school. Only thing of relevance is that it seems to confirm the fact that a major issue between Calhoun and the AD is Calhoun's role in choosing a successor.

There have been rumors that the school wants to wipe its hands clean of Calhoun and his coaching tree once he retires. They will basically murder the program if this happens (we're f'd anyway, no school survives the departure of a legend: UNC, Indiana, UCLA, Kentucky, Louisville, etc) in part because all the alums in the NBA, who are already aren't fond of the AD and don't donate much, will end their relationship with the school. Their loyalty is to Calhoun, not UConn. The school will practically need to start from scratch with an outside coach and we know how well that went for the schools I mentioned above.

JC's current 6-year deal expires on June 30 and he still hasn't signed his 4-year extension that's supposedly been "all but done" since last summer. Not a good sign that this thing has been dragged out for 8-9 months.

Those kids should be coming back to school regardless of who the coach is.
