Saw my first passed ball!!!

I know I shouldn't be excited cuz it was for me but it's the first time I've seen it since I've been playing! Ball hit catcher off his mask and flew back to the backstop. Matt Weiters totally whiffed on the catch haha! I'm assuming this was addressed in the patch, cuz before that would've probably been a wild pitch??? Anyways, just thought I'd share!


EDIT: Noticed in the box score is shows up as a passed ball, but isn't showing as an error in the line score?? Is this correct??

According to baseball scoring rules, a passed ball is NOT an error. If it was, then a wild pitch would be an error against a pitcher.

ahh...thanks guys! Not so much baseball knowledge here lol... question i have now is, does that go against Wieters Fielding %? Basically, did that cost him a chance for a gold glove?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't go against fielding percentage, BUT I do believe that the passed balls stat IRL would be considered for a gold glove.

I had like 3 in one game before, then I realized I had a CF playing catcher lol. Still won though.

yes, but if this game is anything like the past years, the Gold Glove awards are based on the highest F% (worst fielding stat of them all), and assuming Weiters has no errors (catchers don't have many), he will automatically win because Baltimore is the 1st team listed alphabetically in the American League. That is why Baltimore players win half of the Gold Gloves in franchise.
