    After a missed shot

Is there anyway to actually get your player to go after the missed shot when there is contact on the inside ..

For example when someone drives lane, alters their shot or there is contact they just kinda stand there or sometimes loose their balance

Frustrating, from time to time guys do get their own rebound and/or put forth an effort in the real world

I was thinking of the same thing last night. But I've notice only on certain animations can you get your own rebound. Because they are not that long.

But I kind of miss from 2k9 was the tip-in animation. I know Vince Carter has been known to do this a lot in real life.

        I have the same problem!

I don't know how many times I miss a shot, tapped the button, and my player is still in a unnecessary animation or don't jump at all. There is no way to fix it!
If only we had full control of the players.

Also I hate when a foul is called and the offender animation continues but the defenders stand still, a foul animation sucks me into it and don't allow me to play D. Especially when I am coming for the weak side!
        True bout my business, Mane!

If I remember correctly, the delay was implemented after sky high O-Reb numbers kept popping up in I think it was either 2K6 or 2K7. Basically, it was too easy to get your own board before they implemented the "control delay".

That was always my interpretation as well. I think those extended post-shot animations are there to prevent an overabundance of offensive rebounds. It truly was unrealistically easy at one point in the series to garner one's own missed shot.

With that said, I agree there are players that are good at it in real life as well (the aforementioned Vince Carter). I've always been curious as to whether a good offensive rebound rating meant an early break out of those after-shooting animations.

I think that would be a great idea. Players over a certain Offensive Rebounding rating of say 85 or 90 could break out of the aftershot animation, allowing them to at least contest the board. The thing is, a good defender should be maning up the ball shooter and box out once they have let the shot off, so this should still be defendable.

                Re: After a missed shot

think of it this way: if you go up for a shot in real life and there is contact, there is a period of time after the contact that you dont have control of yourself. sometimes you just dont have the footing to go up for a rebound. this is what they are trying to simulate in the game. if you let someone just go up immediately after contact, everyone on here would be crying about how unrealistic and easy it is to get your own rebound. ill admit, sometimes the contact animation is a little bit overdone, but id prefer it this way rather than too easy.

agree with your statement except for the animations being overdone. I notice the bigger and stronger the player is the quicker they recover from contact and hard fouls.

I wouldnt expect Curry, Rajon, etc to be able to recover quickly from contact after driving to the basket and missing.

                    Re: After a missed shot

I think right now its is on a good place. I like how it works. Because I rememeber like I said my friends use to beat that tip in animation to death. I would see it at least 5-6 times a game.

I like the idea of players with high offensive rebounds being able to break of of those animations early. But the same should go for the defense as well. I think the defender should have the advanctage. Because of what I said above.

Also I don't want to reward players for taking bad shots. And being able to recover for the easy tip-in. That would become a huge problem.

But again I think right now the way it works is perfect the way it is.

True, 2K is trying to find that happy medium. I think its close but not perfect yet. When I miss a two foot shot for whatever reason and ball literally falls in front of my face, why wouldn't I reach out and attempt to grab it. I should be able to make an attempt, thats what bothers me. An animation takes over and there is nothing that can be done ... so like u said, at times the animations are a bit much. So being able to break from an animation at given moments would have my vote

Of course this isnt a deal breaker, just something ive noticed ... thanx for the feedback guys, appreciate it!

But my thing is...I don't want guys to take bad shots. But know that this guy will break his animation. So I have that chance to get the ball back in. So that means they will keep taking those bad shots. Looking to be rewarded. Know what I mean? Like the way it is now. Some guys I know don't drive the ball into the paint like they use to (recklessly..) Now they actually try to make sound plays to get to the basket. Which I can deal with.

                        Basically I'm talking about cheesers.
