In Franchise Mode do you trade your draft picks for proven players? Or do you stockpile picks and build for the future?

I like to take my higher rated players and turn them into high draft picks. This year I plan on trading Chad Pennington (85 OVR) and Joey Porter (94 OVR) for as many high draft picks as I can get. I like to build a young team and clearing Pennington will make room for Chad Henne and Pat White, while also giving me options for the future. Porter should bring in maybe a 1st and 3rd round pick, Pennington at least a 2nd rounder. Those picks, paired with my own, would give me at least 6 picks in the first three rounds to continue building a young team.

i really only trade for picks i dont usually trade my picks away unless i know for sure im getting a late 1 rd draft pick

I trade my older players for picks, and trade picks for younger players.

Yea that's one thing I forgot to mention. Usually I will trade my first round pick for someone else's plus an extra pick, assuming I will do well.

I ALWAYS build thru the draft, so if anything, I trade away players (especially higher priced players), for extra draft picks. I never trade for a starter, and only pick up free agents to fill back-up slots.

For me it's all about building a championship contender thru the draft, so I really hope they got the draft right this year .....

Agreed, by year 3 I like to have 90% of my team say NFL draft in the "how acquired category". It helps to already have Pat White, Chad Henne, Ronnie Brown, Ted Ginn, etc...

I normally keep my picks, but i will trade for a player or players if i need to.
