Kansas City Dynasty (NFL Head Coach 2009)

Not seeing any way to get it moved, I will be reposting my KC Dynasty thread here. So Hang tight, Give me a little bit to get things transfered.

Edit: Really nice part is I get to fix all the spelling mistakes before I found spell check.

Re: Kansas City Dynasty (NFL Head Coach 2009)

After a few years as coach of the Steelers and not losing for almost 2 full season I decided to start a new one with a team I have no interest in. Not wanting to take a powerhouse I "should" win with right away I picked a team with allot of room to grow. 2 1st round picks, a ton of cap space available and a the desire to beat the Raiders twice a year led me to pick The Chiefs. I played a smashmouth offense with a 3-4 in Pittsburgh so I decided to not do that. I love man to man press coverage, so all the cover 2 defenses were not going to work. Instead I found Jacksonville's 4-3 D. I have played the a few times before and found them, while not dominating, disruptive enough that with the right combo of personnel I could use it to my liking. Then I went looking for a offense. I didn't want a heavy run offense so I looked for a heavy pass style. I glanced at NE's numbers, the west coast ones but I kept coming back to Indy's spread, So Tom Moore's Spread it was, Not sure if it's different from the one named Indy, they have the same amount of plays. So Man 4-3 and 3 WR Spread offense. Time to get the ball rollin. New coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. Jeremy Dunn.

Re: Kansas City Dynasty (NFL Head Coach 2009)

I gave the roster a good look after changing a few philosophies. No real QB and only 1 good WR (Bowe) in the Spread is gonna hurt. L. Johnson while not a spring chicken will do at RB. T. Gonzales at TE isn't a bad thing but I'm not sure I wanna pay my TE that much money. So off to the trade block he goes. I have a good core of OLB's, so no need to change that. MLB Harris is a 77 for 3 mil a year, not good, worst part is it cost 6 to drop him, dead roster weight.... Surtain is my CB, not bad, would like better than a 84 starting. Safeties are average, I have 2 decent SS's Pollard and Wesley with Page at FS, but with a press defense you have to have good people covering the deep when your CB misses. That may need to be improved. My D Line is a bit weak, Hali is a good 82 with 84 Pot, so we will do for now. RE is a mess and my DT's are all to low. That area will have to be a 1st priority in the draft. O-Line is hit and miss. C is good, R. Smith is a starter at 85/86 and Waters will do nice at LG. McIntosh is my LT at 79, Taylor my RG at 77 and Svitek, a RFA at 81 at RT. I L2 tender Svitek, if someone wants to give me a 2nd round pick for him the so be it.

      Added to trading block
      TE Gonzales
      SS Pollard
      SS Wesley
      DT Boone
      DT Tyler
      QB Croyle
      QB Thigpen
      LT Jones
      RG Tyler
      FS McGraw
      CB Blackenridge
      HB Battle
and a few other I just end up releasing outright.

Well FA starts, time to see what this cap space can do for me.

Re: Kansas City Dynasty (NFL Head Coach 2009)

        Day one of free agency.

        A. Samuel Bidding starts and I'm all in......untill it hits 7m, then I'm out. Good CB, not 8.4m good.

I want a CB so the next one pops up.

        M. Trufant. Bidding starts and once again I'm all in. It hits 6 and it's just myself and the panthers, 6.1, .2, .3, MINE. So I have my CB. 6 mil signing bonus less than his yearly pay, will be important down the road should I want to trade him.

Trade offer on Gonzales. I had heard that Atlanta would offer me the 3rd pick for him, which they did after a little badgering. 1st and a 7th in 2008!

        A. Faneca Being a Steelers homer I just could not resist. 7.7 a year over 5 13m Bonus. Didn't really need a LG, did need a LT, so I moved him there. 95 overall. that will work.

        K. Hamlin 3.5 a year over 4, 2.5 mil bonus

        S. Andrews 4.4 a year over 5, 4 mil bonus. move him to RG.

I decide to look around, as it stands I have a great OL now, expert RT, I send out trade offers for a few good ones but they want way to much. So why not check LT's. If I'm switching my starters around my not continue it. I give the Giants a call for LT Diehl. After some talk we decide SS. Wesley, DT Boone and a the 195th pick (7th) is a good deal. So my OL is set.

But I had just traded my Starting SS. He was only there for maybe it's worth it. I still have Pollard but I'm not impressed with him. So I give my favorite Steelers a call. You want Polamalu for how much? How does the 82nd (3) pick in the years draft and my 2nd next year sound. OK deal. SS problems are solved.

I also wanted a good TE, looking at the draft I just was not impressed with what was coming my way. Indy's offense, how about D. Clark. They take the 66th pick (3) my 2009 3rd and QB Croyle for him. NICE!

(While I understand that Pitt and Indy would probably never trade these players, if the game is gonna let me do it then fine...)

Cleveland offers me the 189th (6) and 216th (7) for CB Blackenridge. Sold.

I sign RT D. Foster for 2 years 700k a year and no bonus. Good thing because Svitek signs his tender the next day.

All done with trades and signings. off to the draft!

Re: Kansas City Dynasty (NFL Head Coach 2009)

Draft day has come and gone, I did 12 trades up and down that day. Not going to list them all. But here are my Draft picks:

1/3 C. Long RE (Wanted QB Ryan but he went 1st, J Long went 2nd)
1/5 Wanted Dorsey here, but he went 4th. McFadden is still available, but I already have Johnson and he makes way to much money to get rid of) Traded to the Tenn for the 24th the 54th and their 1st in 2009
1/13 I traded up here, Looking at the pick the pick the Panthers were looking to get Jenkins here. I figured I could get him with the 17 so I had to make a move. They must have wanted Trufant until I took him in FA. Drafted Jenkins, gave up my 17th the 54th (2) I got from the titans and the 102nd (4).
1/24 from titans. NYG gave me the 31st, 95th(3) and the 195th (7), OK.
          1/31 Sent to Seattle, for the 55th (2) 86th (3) and the 118th (4). Sure.
Did a ton more trading like I said. Just wanted to recap the 1st round.
          2/23 D Jackson WR
          2/26 T. Gooden MLB
          3/9 D, Moore DT
          3/22 H. Douglas WR
          3/31 Z. Bowman CB

          4/22 J. Johnson QB
          4/29 A. Serna K
          5/1 R. Schuening LG
5/4 A. Woodson QB (made GM Happy, didn't want him, had him before, His delivery sucks.)
5/23 J. Leman MLB (Another GM happy pick, I had ignored all his pick before, he was getting mad)
          5/29 J. Sullivan C

            Start of preseason

            Invites of interest:
            B. Leftwich QB
            K. Faulk RB
            J. Mincey LE

            D. Tribble CB
            Signed D. Foster RB

Sent Leftwich to Jacksonville for a 2008 5th

            Went 1-3 in preseason.
I simm'd this entire season. Made a few changes and Won more games that I figured I would. I will give a quick recap of every game.

Re: Kansas City Dynasty (NFL Head Coach 2009)

Up to this point Jenkins is the Def ROY and Manningham is the Off ROY.

My starting LG B. Waters, who was hurt almost the entire pre season, week 2, 3 and now again after week 4 is hurt. I send him to the Giants for a 2nd and 6th round pick in 2009.

                Week 5 KC Vs Car
24-14 Johnson finally finds the end zone!

                Kolb 17-27 230 yds 1/0
                Johnson 22att 142 yds 2TD
                Manningham 7c 117 yds
                Bowe 6c 85 Yds 1TD
                C. Long 2 Sks

Long and Jenkins 1-2 in Def ROY

It's my Bye week so I make a final trade.

Looking at the free agent wire I see a guy named Angelo Craig,
He's an 80 overall with a POT of 87, his learning sucks but I don't think there will be a drop.

                D. Edwards, my Starting ROLB is 35 and his time might be up. He's an 85 overall and I hate to lose him but sometimes you have to think about the future. I trade him to Carolina for a 2009 2nd and a 2010 7th.

I also Drop HB Battle and pick up D. Sproles. Not sure how I missed him all this time. Now I have him and Cribbs returning kicks

I'm 4-1, not bad for a rookie coach siming the 1st season.

                Week 7 Tenn Vs KC
12-7 Both offenses are terrible. This game would have been great to watch...........Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

                Kolb 8-29 144 yds 0/2
                Johnson 10 att 57 Yds 1TD
                Bowe 4c 97 yds
                Hali 1 Sk
                Jenkins 1 Int

Been looking at the next years draft. I'm in the English Draft tree and I have heard it's full of powerhouse Qb's. Gooden, my starting MLB is hurt till near the end of the season, being hurt in your rookie season doesn't make me feel good. I check out the MLB's in the draft and since I have 2 1st round picks I figure I can get one there. Also checking out the TE's, I have a few 2 tight end sets in this offense and both my backups are 67/77's. My GM has small school insider and he's not to far from Major school so I focus on mid. I figure my draft focus will be MLB, TE, and G. Schuening has been progressing well, but he feels like backup material to me.

51-10 Ouch, you would think Kolb blew their doors off. Nope Started off good. Cribbs took the opening kickoff back for a TD.

9-4 Getting a little excited. SD is 10-3, if I can beat them I may even have a chance at a home game in the playoffs. No chance of a bye, NE has only lost the game to me and Indy only has 1 loss as well. And guess who's next. SD!

                    Week 15 SD vs KC
27-24. Lost another close one..... And they win the division. I almost need to win out to get the WC. I was hopefull. They told me I was better prepaired than my opponent. I guess my run D forgot to wake up again. LT 19att 144yds, 1 TD. Rivers 12/15 193yds 2/0. 51 points last week against Denver, wish I could have save a few.....

Great things happen to great teams during the playoffs. Bad things happen to teams that should not have been there in the 1st place. Kolb gets hurt on the final day or practice... Knew I should have canceled it and rested.....and L. Johnson had no stats during the game and was on my injury report for 4 days after the game.

                              Tribble CB

                              I signed 0 free agents.

I made 2 pre draft trades:

QB A. Woodson to Chi for the 2009 73rd pick
WR H. Douglas to Tenn for the 2009 178th and the 210th Pick

                              Pre Draft thoughts.

After a full season with Kolb, I feel he is better for me as a backup. With the big three, English, James and Morrow in this draft I will go in that direction. Rb I'm set in, Maybe a good backup, at least better than Sproles. At WR I'm set. Manningham and Jackson were good pickups and Bowe was already in place. Clark is great, Just would like an upgrade at Backup for the 2 TE sets. My O-Line is great, Would like to upgrade the LG and put Schuening back to the backup spot where he belongs. I can shift Andrews back to LG if I find a good RG. Looking at Boma, a guy I have see talked about and a guy names Beets. he is compared to Faneca so he has hope.

On Def My line is set, Unless I get a guy that blows me away I'm only need backups. While I like Gooden at MLB, His injury scares me. M. Jackson is slotted to be a top notch MLB, so I will focus on him. ROLB is also a big deal for me. Craig is good, but backup good as far as I'm concerned. D. Mayo is also a top notch LB, both he and Jackson are end of the 1st round guys, having the 18th and 22nd pick, I may just get lucky. CB I'm all set, Just need a 5th filler guy. FS and SS I'm good. I have a ton of draft picks, so it's possible for me to get upgrades at positions I would not consider.
