Best madden for last gen?

Hey guys I think I might pick up an Xbox 1 and get into some of the old maddens, can you list the madden(s) you think were best and why.

Also what is the best madden for this gen?

Also for the Xbox original I'm thinking the graphics will look nasty on my 50" plasma, would it look alright on a 22" LCD monitor?

Just buy 09 for xbox, it builds upon a solid foundation. The xbox visuals look pretty sharp imo, but if your going worry about graphics you shouldn't be playing the game in the first place. I still play old supernintendo and psx games.

I personally love 2004 I think it was because of the franchise mode. Correct me if im wrong but it was 04 I think that had it where you could choose where to advertise, what to give fans at games as far as food etc...and had the feature at the end of a season that you could edit the teams stadium. Not a big deal to some maybe...small things count for me though..adds to not only the realism at times but the fun as well. The stadium thing i personally wish they would bring back...added to the freedom you had as far as being an owner of a franchise.

As for the monitor deal...I play my 360 on my monitor and I love it...i personally prefer it. I have a HP w2007 20.1" LCD and its perfect. Looks awesome..better than most good tv's i think.

Thanks guys, I'm not too worried about graphics, but 2K5 looks real bad on my 50" Plasma. Just too big, like I get black lines and jagged edges. I already have 04, just not an Xbox to play it :P

I owned 2001, 2003, and 2006 for PS2, and 2008 for PC (basically the same as last-gen). I remember 2001 being great, but it's probably not so great now. Loved 2003 as well. You are probably best off with a newer one, though.

If you think NFL2k5 looks bad on your television, i'm guessing madden will look bad too. But peoples opinions of bad vary. You have to realize your playing an xbox game. Did you try playing NFL2k5 on your 360 it is backwards compatible unlike madden.

I play my ps2 sometimes when I get an urge to take it back you might say...I have a 55" sony lcd. The picture is a little off I guess you could say but its just due to the system and the picture being so stretched out. As far as My 360 goes ofcourse its fine bc i can use my hd plug ins. I still prefer to use my monitor though..to me the picture is alot more sharp.

If you can find a Madden 09 for Xbox, that'd be the one to go with. There weren't many made though, so you might need to look around a bit. But that'd be the way to go, as it has the most up to date rosters, and still has the Owner Mode stuff etc.

But the best Madden for pure gameplay was Madden 2003. Very well balanced.

Are you using composite (yellow cord) or component (red, green, blue) PS2 cables to your tv? There is a very noticeable difference in picture quality b/w the 2.

The madden i loved most was madden 07 ps2 version. Because of it's deep franchise/owner mode in it.:wink:

Madden 2004 or Madden 2005. I personally loved Madden 2005!

i would say at least madden 07, since the run blocking is a little better. madden 05 had ******** run blocking and superman defenwsive backs
