    Thanks to Peter Moore

I love the fact that the team at EA that produces Madden is interacting with the communities much more this year. The interaction and detail in the weekly blogs, the replies to the emails, the willingness to listen to the suggestions and react to those that make sense is an outstanding and positive change to the experience that was before. And as much credit as I give (along with the rest of you) to Ian and crew, I can't help but think that this direction comes from the top. So, I also thank Peter Moore for setting a new tone, a better tone, and one that is being followed. You see it in Madden, Tiger, NHL, Live, etc. - the team at EA seems to have had the light go on. And I believe the guy that turned the switch is the president himself.

So, thank you Peter, and cheers to all of you with hopes of a GREAT Madden game this year.

Peter's also the man that brought us the consoles that never die. Wait, I meant always die. The 360's RRoD lays at Moore's feet.

What other product in history is in the same price range as the 360 that offers a 3 year warrenty on their product for absolutely no cost? They break, yes, but other than the time it takes to send it off and get it fixed, what has it cost the customers?

                NONE...

The warranty is free cos they know their product is broken.

Peter Moore worked for Microsoft games, he did not design or help build the Xbox 360.

Interesting considering he headed the Xbox and Games for Windows divisions, not 360.

The XBox 360 falls under the XBox division and Peter Moore was the exec in charge of launching the XBox 360 console.

Peter Moore, the Microsoft executive who led the launch of the second-generation Xbox 360 game console, is leaving for game publisher Electronic Arts (EA).
                      http://venturebeat.com/2008/09/05/xb...-console-woes/

Microsoft knew it had flawed machines, but it did not delay its launch because it believed the quality problems would subside over time. With each new machine, the company figured it would ride the “learning curve,” or continuously improve its production. Even though Microsoft’s leaders knew their quality wasn’t top notch, they did not ensure that resources were in place to handle returns and quickly debug bad consoles. There were plenty of warning signs, but the company chose to ignore them.
As for the 3 year warranty. There should have been a class action lawsuit against them for faulty hardware (not sure if there was). I have 2 XBox 360s and both have failed, the latest one, a brand new one as of last year just got the dreaded black screen of death E74 error.

A google search of Moore will reveal that he's had ideas about Madden that would make simulation-hoping fans of the Madden series very uncomfortable. For that reason, I don't care for him.

If Madden ends up being more simulation-based, I believe Ian and his crew will be the ones to thank--and I'd have no problems doing it.

The only thing I would remotely thank Mr. Moore for is having enough sense to stay out of Ian and Co's way as much as he's willing.

                            Re: Thanks to Peter Moore

I got impatient waiting for the PS3, and bought the 360, in March of '06'. I guess I was lucky...mine lasted about two years worth of fairly light duty. Then the "Ring of death" struck. Been good since. But again...through light duty. [Madden hasn't been very good.]

I don't know the figures, but I'd imagine MS would have been better off if they'd delayed the launch, vs what ended up happening. Pretty lame they knowingly released a flawed product, but the three year warranty imo, was at least the halfway decent thing to do. I really like the 360, but if I do experience another failure, I'll probably look into getting a PS3.

But back on topic....I do believe Peter Moore has played a role in EA's willingness to interact.

When the Xbox 360 was launched in 2005, there were many problems with Microsoft's new console, but in September 2007, they reduced the Xbox 360's CPU chip from 90nm to 65nm. My point is that many of the newly made Xbox 360's overheat less and last a lot longer than the older ones. I bought mine at the end of 2007 and I've never had any problems. Peter Moore should be credited for his approach on gaming. EA Sports has never done what it's doing now by using the community to influence its games. Give the man some credit!
