    ***NHL 09 Official Bugs/Glitches Thread***

I am not sure if we have a EA rep like OMT or The Future on the NHL boards but if so OR if someone can relay this to someone in charge.

I think the biggest issue I am seeing with the game is......Drum roll:...........Hooking = Fighting EVERYTIME

This needs to be fixed some how. Just because you hook a player does not mean you are starting a fight everytime I hit the button. If I am out of postion and as a last ditch effort I am going to try and sneak a hook in to slow down a player so I am attempt to poke the puck away OR I might try and hook them and pin them into the boards.

It is not just the fact that hooking starts a fight. It is the fact that EVERYTIME you hit the Y button (360) it starts a fight. It is sooo bad that I can't even attempt to use the button because I would spend all game in the box for fighting.

Other than that the game is flat out amazing.

Re: EA PLEASE Fix this with patch

The easiest fix on our end is to turn off fighting. I don't want to do it, but considering fighting is at best lackluster, I'm resigned to doing it for now.

There is an EA community manager (not a developer, programmer, producer or whatever you want to call them) that visits OS. As for contacting EA, as a community rep for NHL, I can email the EA community manager. I'm going to give it a few days to let things shake out and start to compile some feedback from the community to pass along. I don't know what will become of it once it goes to him, but it's what we have available to us at this time. I'm thinking that sometime this weekend I'll try to get the ball rolling...

Hopefully they can also fix the shootout issue where the goalie knocks the puck back into his own net. I was told in another thread that this problem, which I originally found in the demo, would be fixed in the full game........apparently not.

Really sucks to lose a shootout because of something as stupid as this.

Yea I am most likly going to turn it off aswell. I did not want to because the penalities that come along with fighting make it more realistic, even if the fight engine itself is crap.

But having a fight every time someone hooks is not realistic either.

I understand were u coming from with letting it die down some. Anyway, thanks alot QB

It's in one of the dev blogs that they did fix it - it's still in the game but they supposedly were only able to reproduce it 2 times out of 500.

Ha, well if that's the case, it's my own dumb luck I guess. It happened twice in the first three shootouts I played...guess I've used up my quota for a while! Thanks for the heads up.

This honestly hasn't been a problem for me so far. I was pressing the hook button all over the place just to test it, and I got into a grand total of one fight. I did get a number of minor penalties though.

Mind you, why do we even have a button for hooking? It's pretty much a guaranteed penalty in the NHL.

Yea but EA also gave us no option to pin people into the boards so this is kind of like our only option.

Ahh... intelligence and reason prevails afterall

I have fighting turned off. It's dumb and it shouldn't be part of the sport anyway.

b/c sometimes in hockey you'll take a penalty if somebody looks like they're gonna score a sure goal.

Patch that and add the ability to see the cpu's line. You can sort of get it to show if you start the game as one team, then switch sides to the other team. The other team's line changes will show up for changes on the fly, but I don't think I saw them for break in the action changes.

only hook with a non fighter.

remember the hook button used to be lift the stick.

so the hook button had to go somewhere...

My Be A Pro is a non fighter and I got in two back to back fights. One the puck went behind the net, the cpu got to it before me and I wanted to prevent him from a wrap around goal so I hooked him and bammmmm fight broke out. The I went serve my 5 mins. I came out played a couple lines, We were heading down the ice near the neutral zone, I hit Y on accident trying to do the lift stick and bammmm fight started.

while we are talking about bugs, i got stuck in practice mode. I was practicing two on twos and I could no longer bring up the menu. I could continue doing the drill forever, but I couldn't exit or even change any of the options. Had to kill my xbox. On the plus side, I took it as a sign from god that it was time to go to bed.

Qb, that would be great if you could compile a bug list to send to EA. Be sure to include the line change bug.
