Talking Hot Shots Golf - OS Players Club Tournaments - New Tournament starts mid-April

Novice Tour Leaderboard (might need to refresh to see most recent results):

It's time for a new HSG OS Players Club Tournament. The new tournament starts Tuesday night (April 21st) with a tee time of 10 PM EST.

The rules will be:
  • Novice Characters only
  • No Power Mode
  • No Super spin shots
  • Any clubs or balls are legal (I will turn on All-Out-Battle so everyone can use Special clubs)
  • Two rounds per course (Regular tee then Long Tee (Mirror)
  • 8 course tournament (6 courses that come with the game, plus the 2 DLC courses)
  • Leaderboard scores will be the combined total for the two rounds on the course each Tuesday night.

Just like the previous tournaments we've had, we'll meet in an online lobby within the online portion of HSG a few minutes before tee time. You can do a search for the user aukevin by pressing triangle when you are in a lobby and choose the player search option. If I'm in a lobby, the game send you to the lobby I'm in. Once we are ready to start, I will create a game room and we'll start the Regular Tee round. Right after that round we'll all be dumped into the lobby again and I'll create a game room for the second round on the Long Tee (Mirror) course. It generally takes 1.5 hours to play both rounds.

The course order we will play is:
Week 1: Highland
Week 2: Okinawa
Week 3: Euro Classic
Week 4: Safari
Week 5: Oceania ($5 DLC course)
Week 6: Silver Peaks
Week 7: Golfasaurus Rex ($5 DLC course)
Week 8: Crown Links

If you cannot meet up with us one week, that's ok. Just play the rounds with someone in this tournament within a couple weeks and post a screen shot of your score (using the in game screen-cap feature) and I'll put you back on the leaderboard.

We will be using Skype again for voice chatting during the game so we don't have to type so much between holes. I will be on Skype with the user name aukevin1 to set up a conference chat. Hopefully all can use that because I doubt we type much between holes if we are able to voice chat together.

You must have the 6 courses (and the Long Tee (Mirror) counterpart to each course) unlocked in the game through Challenge Mode to play online with us. The game will not let you play a course online if you do not have it unlocked in Single Player through the Challenge Mode. But, you can download a game save with all the courses and characters unlocked and use that save. So I am providing a game save that has everything unlocked for anyone to use. Remember if you are replacing a game save on your system, it will be overwritten with this one unless you copy it to a different user on your PS3. If you overwrite a save, you will lose all your records and saved videos (and will get my records and save vids from the gamesave I am posting). So if you don't want to lose your stats, backup your save and just load this one for the tournament.

Here is a link to a game save with all courses, characters, and clubs unlocked: All courses unlocked game save

Here are the steps to put the save on your PS3:
1. Download the zip files from the link above.
2. Unzip the file, you should be left with a PS3 with a SAVEDATA folder within it, and then the game save folder within it.
3. Copy the PS3 folder (not the zip file) and all its contents onto a flashdrive.
4. On the PS3, go to the "Saved Data Utility" under Game in the XMB, select the flash drive you copied the file to, and you should see the file.
5. Press Triangle and select copy. It will overwrite your old data though - stats, loyalties, saved shots - everything.

That's it! You'll also get a message the first time you go online with it saying that the data has been copied and will be reset, but it won't affect your ability to select all the characters and courses - it's really only talking about your G-rating for online tournaments.

Ok, I think I've covered about everything. So whoever wants to join this tournament, please post and let me know you are interested.

The Ultimate Challenge Tournament has ended. Congrats to Ruffy for taking home the championship!

The next HSG Out of Bounds tournament will begin mid-April. Rules are being discussed now. Post in this thread if you want to join.

Ultimate Challenge Leaderboard:

For details go here: OS Players Cup - Ultimate Challenge Tournament

================================

The Long Tee Classic Tournament has concluded (congrats to rspencer86 for the win!). Discussions on the next tournament start around post #217. It will be a team-play tournament with Match Play games to decide teams. Rules for the tournament are TBD.

================================

Are you guys ready for another tournament? The last one went great, the best one yet!

The rules are a little different this time around, here they are:
  • This tournament will have suicide tournament style of picking, meaning you can only use a golfer once in the tournament. The golfer you choose will be the one you use on BOTH rounds of the course. The next week you will have to choose a new golfer, but you cannot pick the same one that you have used on a previous course. So you'll have to make the decision of when to use your favorite golfer.
  • All participants each week will use a golfer no other participant is using that week (for example there cannot be two Sasha's playing on the same course). The picking order for which golfer each participant uses each week will be based on the reverse order of the current standings on the leaderboard. For example, if I am last on the leaderboard, I get first character selection on the next course whereas the leader or the leaderboard will select last. This will add even another level of strategy to who you select to golf with because remember, you cannot choose a golfer that you have used on a previous course. For the first course of the tournament, the results from the OS Players Cup tournament will determine the picking order. If you were not part of that tournament, you are definitely still welcome to play. Newcomers will pick after the the lower three players on the OS Players Cup leaderboard (so you'll get the 4th pick, then the 5th, and so on).
  • The tournament will include the 7 courses available on the game, this includes the Oceania course purchased for $5 in the PSN store. We will start with Highlands and make our way to Crown Links for the finale. We will be playing the Long Tee (Mirror) versions of these courses so you must have these unlocked from single-player Challenge Mode to participate. You unlock the Long Tee courses by in the card flipping game after you win each event in Challenge Mode.
  • All equipment and golf balls are legal in this tournament as well as power mode.
  • TEE TIMES! - Tee times for this tournament will be on TUESDAY NIGHTS at 10 PM EASTERN TIME, starting August 26th. We try to tee off right at 10, so be in whatever online lobby we decide to meet in that week at least 5 minutes prior to the start. I am open to changing the tee time anywhere to an hour earlier on Tuesday nights if that will work better for anyone. If there is a big conflict with Tuesday nights, we can continue to play on Monday nights, but 10 PM is the earliest I can make it.
  • Make-up games - If you cannot make a week's meetup, you have until the next meetup to make up the two rounds of the course. All you have to do to make it up is find someone in the tournament to play two rounds with you online. Record your scores and PM them to me or post them in this thread. If you have to play a make-up game, you get last pick in golfer selection. In the event you can only play one round on the official meetup night, as long as you play in the first round, you can select your golfer based on reverse leaderboard position.
  • For updated leaderboard positions, visit this link: OS Players Long Tee Classic Leaderboard

Alright I believe those are all the rules, let me know if I forgot something. I'm looking forward to getting this going. Post here if you are interested in joining, and remember just because you can't make each week's meetup, there is plenty of time for makeup games and you are also welcome just to play on a week-by-week basis just for fun.

Re: Hot Shots Golf - OS Players Long Tee Classic - Tee Times, Rules, and Discussion!

Here is the pick selection for the first week of the tournament on the Highland CC course on Tuesday August 26th. The listing is in reverse order of the final standings of the OS Players Cup leaderboard and shows the players that I believe already said they will be participating in this tournament. Anyone not on this list that wants to be part of this tournament will start picking at slot #4. Any newcomer, or someone that participated in the OS Players Cup that wasn't on the final leaderboard, that posts first in this thread that they want to play gets slot #4, the next one gets slot #5, and so on. As players make picks (and hopefully join us) I will update this with who they picked. Also on the leaderboard I will put a picture of the golfer chosen next to their round's score so that we can keep a log of which golfers a participant can't select again in future rounds. Week two's pick order will be based on the reverse leaderboard position of the Long Tee Classic leaderboard.

1. wvgolf22 - Felipe
2. aukevin - Nick
3. SqueakyD - Sasha
4. fishepa - Jasmine
5. Jordanfan23 -
6. NEW PLAYER SPOTS
7. justamush
8. Ruffy
9. rspencer86 (MizzouTigerrr)

If bcruise magically is able to play this tournament, he'll get last spot since he was our champ.

Let the selections begin!

Re: Hot Shots Golf - OS Players Long Tee Classic - Tee Times, Rules, and Discussion!

For anyone who has Hot Shots Golf and did not play in the previous tournament, I would highly encourage you to join us for this one. HSG online is a fantastic, fun experience, and playing in a tournament with OS'ers makes it even better. If you don't have this game and are looking for a fun golf game to play, pick up HSG and join us! It's a blast.

As a general rule, let's try to get all of the character selection stuff out of the way well before our meetups on Tuesday night. I don't want to have to refresh this thread every minute right before our meetups trying to figure out which characters have been selected, and I sure don't want to have to do it in the online lobby.

I'm looking forward to next Tuesday night! Should be a lot of fun.

Yeah I thought about putting a deadline for character selection in the rules, but I didn't know how that would work. Because say if whoever has the 3rd pick hasn't selected, if we make it so they have to select by a certain time how much time would the people after that have to decide on their picks?

The only way I can think of doing it is that all selections must be made by noon on the Sunday before the meetup. At this point anyone who has not selected yet (even if it is because someone ahead of you is slow) must have either their selection (meaning that all picks before you have been made) or their top 3 choices for the week. That way at noon on Sunday I can drop anyone who hasn't posted to last choice and assign the selections to the rest based on their top 3 options.

Hopefully their won't be a problem though, I don't really see that happening unless someone is out of town.

I am in.

With the first pick in the draft, WVGolf22 chooses Felipe.

I might have to make some time to finish up this game. I don't have all of the golfers opened up! Oh well, it is fun and I'll get to pick first every time (hope not!).

See you guys Tuesday.

This will be your tourney. You had some good runs last tourney, just holes came along that blew your stroke count up.

With the second pick, I'll take Nick!
