    rspencer86's 20-Minute All Conference Sliders

NOTE FROM MILLENNIUM: THIS FIRST POST ARE RSPENCER'S FINAL SLIDERS.

    Hey everyone,

Just thought I would update this thread with my final settings that I have been using for a while now. I've started an open legacy with Western Illinois and it's been a blast so far. I'm currently 5-12 in my first season and trying to claw my way back up the conference standings. My stats are pretty much spot-on... it's cool to go to the Team Stats page and feel that pretty much everything is how it should be.

    Gameplay
    Difficulty: All-Conference
    Half Length: 20 minutes
    Simulated Half Length: 20 minutes
    Game Speed: 55
    Player Speed: 55

    Energy Recover Rate: 50/50
    Injury Frequency: 50/50
    Injury Effects: 75/75

If you haven't been following the whole thread, I play a "No Switch" defense. That is, while on defense, I never switch players. I find it to be a very fun and fresh way of playing the game.

Like I said, my stats are pretty much spot on. There could be more non-steal turnovers, but that's more of a game issue in general. In my open legacy, I implemented a slow-it-up type offense, hoping to minimize possessions and let my defense rule the day. Sometimes it works... I won my last game 55-48 over Oakland. Sometimes it doesn't... UCLA pounded me 74-52.

The point is, you can run you team however you want to and these sliders should keep the stats realistic. If you run a fast-paced offense, you shouldn't see games get into the 100s on a regular basis with 80 shot attempts per game. If that happens, well, I tried

Anyway, regardless if you find these sliders are for you or not, I hope you find some settings that fit, because this game is just amazing. The fact that I'm still playing this game regularly is a testament to just how good it is.

What team do you play with?

I believe that has a huge bearing on the correct level. The thing is we always get better at the game.

I like that defensive switch house rule; might look into doing something similar when I start my franchise.

I play with Mizzou. The thing is, I personally believe that the levels simply invisibly bump up all of the sliders for the CPU. So, I think I can achieve a MOP-type challenge on All-Conference, without the cheating AI that comes with it.

It is a really fun way to play defense IMO. You can hedge screens, double team, play help defense, slide over and take charges... really opens up a lot of possibilities.

Re: rspencer86's 20-Minute All Conference Sliders

I made some changes to the sliders, human shooting especially was a little too low, so I bumped those up a bit.

Also changed Free Throw difficulty to 100 in order to make FTs more challenging. I'll play a few more games to see if this is too high.

Also dropped Offensive Awareness to 0 for both sides. I was wary of doing this at first, but it cut down on the ridiculous passes inside for the CPU, and also makes double teaming more effective because you can cause a jump ball every so often. Other than that, the CPU still plays very smart, and will hit the open man out of the double team. Zeroing this out also produces even more non-steal turnovers, which I love.

Reach in fouls went up to 75 to discourage swiping at the ball (most steals IRL occur off of deflections/stolen passes). Steal success drops to 50.

Here are the stats from my last game using the updated settings:

                  Well, there you go!

I was shocked at how K-State was able to get to the line. I've never seen such a disparity in FTA favoring the CPU like that. I average around 15-20 FT per game. But I was helpless as the pounded the ball inside to Beasley over and over.

I'll play a few more today and post those as well.

I like the way these play. Nice sliders. I'd up the player speed slightly though. Also 3pt shooting needs a slight boost.

Thanks. I tried upping the player & game speed to 55, and it seemed a lot more realistic. Seemed like I was controlling actual athletes instead of YMCA league guys, lol. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've made a few tweaks and am getting very close to a final version. I played a game last night (Mizzou against the CPU's Iowa State) that ended in a 69-67 OT win for my Tigers. I'm very happy about how the scoring and stats are turning out with 20 minute halves.

I'll post an update either tonight or tomorrow.

Those are unrealistic stats: Beasley with only 20-points?

Awe shucks, I'll check 'em out anyway. Been hoping to play 20-min halves.

Hey, let's not forget that Beasley only managed 17 points in their loss against the Tigers in Columbia.

I'll try to post my current settings once I get home from work so you guys can give my most recent tweaks a shot.
