Playing a Single Season - Options?

I have not played The Show since 2020 and I would like to play a single season of baseball without managing a team. What are my options to just play baseball without worrying about any rewards/points, etc?

Also, can I adjust the season length like I used to in earlier years of baseball games (I am 57 and have gamed since I was a kid). Can I somehow select a short/medium/full length season in The Show 25, or is that not an option?

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Sadly they removed truncated seasons in 2018, but you could play one sim two and still have a huge impact on being a playoff team or cellar dweller. Most teams will win 54 and lose 54, the other third of games is what separates the haves from the have-nots.

Also, when playing a season, at the very start there are three major areas that you have the option of either going manual (you control everything) or auto (you control nothing).

EDIT - Those three major areas are:
    1) Manager Tasks - Lineups and Injuries. Complexity Level 1 Star.
    2) Development Tasks - Scouting. Complexity Level 2 Stars.
    3) General Manager Tasks - Everything from trades to contracts to free agency to coaching and scouting hires and more.
    Complexity Level 3 Stars.

I might at the very least consider going manual with Manager Tasks Complexity Level 1 Star.

I totally understand why people are hesitant to sim even one inning but 54 game seasons are a blast in my opinion.
    162x9 innings = 1458 innings.
    54x9 innings = 486 innings.

Ghost, thank you for the reply.

To be clear, you are suggesting playing 54 games during the season, while simming the remaining games of the season?

Should give you an idea how some shorten up a season. I too control lineups only. I want to play not manage. Thats what OOTP is for .

I was indeed miffedwhen they removed customizable season length but now I dont miss it at all when I play 54 , sim 108. But I do get why there are people who cant stomach the thought of any simming.

I think I’m going to give play one, quick manage 2 or 3(4 game series) a go. That way I still have input on strategy in the games I don’t play.

A fun way to play is to play the last game of every series. It lets you experience most of the teams and stadiums without making you not feel involved. Quick manage the first 1-3 games in the series.

You can also select to drop in at select moments throughout the season in the games you sim. You can set the criteria in franchise.

What do you mean without managing a team? You can always do a 30 team Franchise and have the CPU automate any tasks that you don't want to deal with.

I play Franchise Mode basically as a single season mode and I never once paid attention to rewards or points.

Plenty have answered your second question, I’ll take a stab at the first. There is no true “season” mode.

March to October is essentially franchise “lite”. There’s only basic, prompted roster management decisions and you only play important moments of some games. It’s a speedy and guided single season experience, though you can continue multiple years if you want to.

Franchise is locked at 162 games but allows you to automate every aspect of roster management if you choose and gives a lot of options to either play your games quicker or simulate while retaining managerial control.
