OS Has Gotten Outta Control with the Ads
Look I understand you need revenue to keep the lights on but this website is outta control. Ads at the top and bottom plus a scrolling ad. There are so many ads that navigating the website can be a challenge. This website used to be a great resource for sports games, now it's more annoying than anything else.Tags: None -
Re: OS Has Gotten Outta Control with the Ads
I have to agree.
Imthinkmthe most annoying part of it is when the ad pops up while typing content, and it makes you stop entering content. I've had this happen on numerous occasions whyle posting on the forums.
Also, in the last couple days, the site has been extremely slow to load, if it loads at all. -
Re: OS Has Gotten Outta Control with the Ads
I don’t have a problem with the ads per se, just the way they are optimized. But OS is the only website that crashes on my phone constantly (safari). It’s because of the flash ads. I can use the forums just fine, but I can’t read an article more than 30 seconds without my safari app crashingComment

I don't like to admit it, because I love the site and enjoy the forums, but it really is overwhelming.Comment

Scroll to bottom, look on the left. I believe it's set to OS 4.0, put it on OS 2.0... no ads.Comment

Re: OS Has Gotten Outta Control with the Ads
Ads don't bother me, I'm used to the prevalence of them everywhere else that I subconsciously tune them out. The extra recent traffic is majorly slowing me waay down tho and absolutely grinding my gears.T-BONE.
Talking about things nobody cares.Comment

Re: OS Has Gotten Outta Control with the Ads
I’m not one to complain but this site is awful lol. Also, I know my phone is old but does this site completely drain anyone else’s battery at a really fast rate? I thought it was my phone finally kicking the bucket but I’m convinced it’s only this site that does it.Comment

Re: OS Has Gotten Outta Control with the Ads
If everyone is required to pay a dollar that should be a nice chunk of change to avoid ads
OS today looks like MLB the movie when Roger Dorn put ads for back problems etc all over the outfieldComment

Re: OS Has Gotten Outta Control with the Ads
I access the OS forums using the Tapatalk app and it’s been painfully slow the last handful of days. Hoping it’s temporary as it’s not been my typical experience. What’s the best way to view OS forums?Tapatalk, direct site, something else?
Ads cause occasional scrolling issues for me but that doesn’t bother me much. I appreciate the site and I’ve been here since 2004. I’ve met a lot of great people and have learned so much from all of you.Comment

I also usually use Tapatalk.
Up until the last week or so, speed hasn’t been an issue. But yeah, it seems to have slowed down considerably recently.

Re: OS Has Gotten Outta Control with the Ads
Sadly the days of web forums like this are nearly extinct with Reddit taking it over. Personally I strongly dislike Reddit because it's nothing but DD and RTTS stuff for this game. And usually just people posting to show off their new card, or some highlight of theirs.
This site is my go to for anything video game related sports or not. Been around for over 15 years now and yes the ads weren't a thing back then, but the foot traffic was far more and the engagement in the forums was more lively and honestly encouraging in some ways. It's nice to still see so many around here that I've been seeing post for over a decade or longer. Which to me is the greatest thing about forums like this. You become part of a smallish community of people who enjoy the same game as you do. Reddit will never have that.

Re: OS Has Gotten Outta Control with the Ads
This is simply not the case. I have been on version 2.0, but there is still very much ads. Maybe not in the forums, but certainly in the articles and on the homes page. I’m sure they would have people writing articles if they didn’t want users reading them. Right now it’s a slog to get through a home page articleComment
