Bard's First Take

- Gameplay is smooth. Very similar to last year, but feels great once you get a match going.

- Online I've played three matches. One crash, two no problems at all.

- No top of pod finishers in the Elimination Chamber?

- Models overall look VERY good. In-game is very different than even the best looking screenshots. Game looks good.

- Island is whatever. I'll be doing it for content on YouTube, but meh, kinda fun to walk around, but not much to do.

- New Zealand is very nice this time of year!


This is about two hours of playing, off to work, and will be back on in about 7 hours.

I'm a cpu vs cpu guy so I want to ask if you see improvements with Tag Team gameplay?
Do the cpu wrestlers tag often and perform tag moves?
What about the tag team finishers?
Tag Team ai, in 2k23 and 2k24, was atrocious... Hope you have good news for us

Well, this is a new one. I have a bug and cannot set an AI vs. AI match?

If you do not have early release, I'll try again on my PS5 tonight when the game launches for the United States.

Edit: I just looked, and saw two other people on Reddit with the same issue on Xbox.

The gameplay is even more fluid this year. Happy they have win loss record. Sucks there a bug where the cpu doesn’t have a win loss record. Love the new camera angle. Love the new cuts and how you can set it for how often it happens. Graphically its beautiful

I can't stop looking at Jacob Fatu, lol. His model is insane!


Skipped the tutorial earlier on Xbox, just did it on PS5. I enjoyed it, but I didn't even try this earlier, the barricade dives are so fun!

Absolutely a bug, no way they would remove AI v AI matches.

I mean, they could remove them...but I don't see why they would want to alienate a large base of players by doing that. I still haven't purchased. I was going to pre-order Deadman or Bloodline edition last night and thought "Let me just wait and see the temperature in the room before buying."

I'm sure it is a bug that should be fixed quickly, but in case it isn't, glad I held up on that purchase lol

I only played a few matches since the game was released late and i had to be up early for work so my impressions are limited.

First impressions:
Game felt slower to me overall. Could tell a difference between guys like Je'Von and Oba.
Chain Wrestling is back! Although i think the icons and graphic for it is way too large
The body damage is very well done
Underground was cool, although i thought it was no DQ? I lost via DQ
The free cam in entrance is a nice feature although its only rotated, can't zoom (at least that I've seen).

Tag team entrances or lack of is really noticeable and bad. I only used 4 teams and none were good:
Tama Tonga + Tonga Loa = Hurt Business entrance
4 man Meta Four = 4 man Hurt Business
Fraxiom = No idea but definitely not theirs
Chelsea Greene and Piper Niven = Piper had her hand out the whole time carrying an imaginary belt. I assume this is because Chelsea is the US champ so maybe this triggered a champ entrance for the two of them? Just looked stupid because Piper wasn't carrying anything.

I'll have more impressions tonight after work.

No problem for me, I have it on PS5 and I was able to program ai vs ai matches. So no worries 😉

The only small bug is to modify the match options and change the referees in universe mode, you have to put the intergender matches on "on", otherwise it puts an error message, but otherwise the ai vs ai matches work.

Nevermind. I figured it out. At the wrestler selection screen on PS5, press square to toggle the AI or HUM control.

I think we got WWE swerved on this game. I had high hopes and it's been nothing but a let down. Nothing has changed. Same sliders, same game as last year with the exception of "The Island".

The matches seem to be random and don't take the attributes into play much. Lower rated wrestlers are just about destroying higher rated wrestlers with everything at default.

Personality Traits, for 5 years running, are broken. You can't adjust them. One slight move to the right/left and the numbers jump 3-6 increments instead of 1.

Post match attack and the ref stood outside like a mannequin. Literally just stood there. When the wrestlers walked into him, he slid across the floor and made no movement.

I know it's the first few days of release, but these bugs are very apparent and some have been there for years. I don't think 2k put much effort into the gameplay as much as they did for presentation. It hurt the core game. This is a very underwhelming release. If I had to rate this, as of right now, 4/10. Very disappointed.
