    NHL 25 is broken

How in the hell am we suppose to play this game. it seem like everytime the Computer score a goal they go on a goal scoring run. They score goal after goal after goal. I trying on Pro level, all-star level and nothing is working. I seriously thinking of quiting this game or just putting all computer sliders at 0.

Can't argue with you at all.

I may dabble here and there but this game overall is chalked for me this year. It starting trending downhill for me the last 2 years and this year finally did me in.

I've said my piece multiple times on things here and there this year, not worth it anymore.

For those that can enjoy it, thats awesome, keep grinding.

The only question I have is how do you play defense? I ask because most people I’ve seen who give up a lot of goals are way too aggressive defensively and try to hit too much. If you play more positional defense and force the CPU to the outside and pick your spots of when to hit, you have much more success giving up less goals and getting shutouts.

I will say that I have been messing around with sliders to get a bit more realistic play and the scoring is a bit elevated on default sliders, but even then you shouldn’t be giving up more than 3-5 per game on 7-10 minute periods. I just played a game on default sliders that ended up 2-1 on 7 minute periods.

        I hear ya!

Hockey is such a great sport.

I wish EA could deliver us a sim-type experience the likes us The Show or NBA 2K.

That being said, Armor's set plays well and this dude's set might even play better:

Only adjustment I made was moving from all star down to pro.

Yep I am officially finished with this game.
          All pro is too hard
          Veteran is too easy

          9-18-5 on my season

The cpu scores whenever they want
          My penalty kill is 74%
Face-off are usually 24-12 every game
I am 0-5 in OT with a goal let up in less than a minute every time.

I looked back and have lost 6 games by letting a goal up in the last minute of the game! Twice was less than 10 seconds to go.

I don't mind losing but this just feels cheap.

I have scored 90 goals and let up 117
          I cant
          Gaming hard since 1988

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

I use Armor's too, with a few adjustments of my own, but I turned it up to superstar the other day, and (small sample size), the goaltending on both ends was much better, and the AI seemed much better. Good shot ratio's as well.

Biggest adjustment that I've found helps is turning down hit power and aggression...if I'm running around hitting everyone, the CPU carves me up every time I get out of position. If I sit back and play what would be considered "realistic" defense, my goalie plays much better.

If there were two adjustment that I wish a patch would nerf, it's the short-side hide snipe shots from the faceoff circle that the CPU seems to score with, and the fact that a giveaway at your own blue line seems to be an auto-goal for the CPU every time.

I am enjoying it though, and I definitely feel bad for those of you who aren't.

This is why I ask everyone how they play when they say they give up a ton of goals. In previous years you could get away with hitting everyone, but that’s not really realistic as there should be a risk/reward for it. I find in NHL 25 that it’s more important to stay in position defensively and only hit when either in the offensive zone or when you have numbers back on defense and they don’t. The CPU goal scoring numbers go way down when you force them to the outside, which is how it should be.

Game could still be improved but it’s much better than previous years.

I tried this game out during the free weekend and it’s still the same BS as always

Was up 3-1 on Detroit with Buffalo with less than 3 minutes to go

What do you know, they tied the game up with 10 seconds left like my defense wasn’t even on the ice

Just pure cheap BS. Uninstalled it right after and I’ll never go back to this series

All of a sudden I can't score goals to save my life. And it seems like the CPU has gotten a lot better at scoring. I was in competitive games on Pro even though I'm not a great or super experienced player but now I even switched to Semi-Pro and just lost 3-0 and still couldn't score. A lot of good looks on goal too and their preseason backup goalie blocked everything.

Was just gonna ask if it's worth getting it at $39.99, but from what I read i guess nothing has changed.

Was hoping to avoid having to tweak the AI and sliders on a ridiculous level to get a competitive game from the cpu, and not a score-a-thon.

As with everything in life, the loudest voices that you're going to hear on these forums are the ones from people who hate the game (or anything for that matter).

What I will say, is that there are a ton of people here that actually enjoy the game, and that have been quite helpful suggesting the adjustments to get it where I personally want it.

Regarding the sliders, it's important to remember that the majority of folks (not us!) play the arcade-y type modes that are fast paced, goal fest with a bunch of trick shots and what-not. It's where EA makes there money, so we can sit here and be mad at it, or accept that it's a reality in this game, as well as most other sports games at this point.

The great news is this-They've given us the ability to adjust sliders and tailor the game to our wants/needs. Having played a full 82 with an expansion team, and now 60ish more in my Ducks franchise, I can honestly say that it's the most authentic hockey game that I've played to date (Have played every version aside from '23, since '98).

I get the aversion to tinkering with sliders all of the time. I've done it in the past, and it's a pain. My experience with this go around was that I found a set, and spent a handful of games making some minor adjustments, and I haven't touched them since.

With this, I've had a variety of realistic results in both ends, lots of variety in CPU scoring, solid goaltending at both ends, and have had a blast.

I said it earlier in the thread, and will repeat it again...This is the first time that playing a structured defense is actually important. You can't just run around hitting everyone any more, you have to play solid, positional hockey, or the cpu will rip you apart. There are moments when it's frustrating, but it's what would happen in a real game.

The post above you referenced playing 1 game, and blowing a 2 goal lead, which apparently made it the same as every other version before it...My opinion on it, again from my experience in playing it, is that we're now at a point where adjusting strategy to counter the CPU is important. If the CPU is down, especially late, they will absolutely get extremely aggressive. That's what happens when 2 points are on the line. If you don't adjust, start chasing the puck, or have a costly giveaway, you'll get punished. That's realistic hockey. Blown 3rd period leads happen all of the time, and from my 140+ games so far, I can say with certainty, that it doesn't happen any more in this game than it does in real life. Sometimes you just need to chip the puck out, or ice it and reset..

There used to be a great thread in the MLB the Show forum, that was titled something along the lines of "If this happened in the Show...", and it was essentially moments from real-life baseball that happened throughout the year, that if they had happened in game, folks would have absolutely lost their minds about. I often think about it when I see posts about blowing a lead late, cOmEbAcK cOdEs, or other "interesting" events. If you get the chance, check it out.

Long story (very) long, I would never dream of telling someone how to spend their money, but I dropped $40 on it after Christmas, and haven't regretted it.

Hello. New to the forum and had to post.

                              I HATE THIS GAME!

I have every NHL game since its inception, I have been playing BAP since they created it

                              This year is THE WORST

As others have mentioned, the biggest issue is goals against. Every time the sim to the next shift, the other team scores. If they shoot from the point, they score and score and score.

I will either score 3 or 4 games in a row, then have ZERO points for 15 straight games. Its absurd. I dont mind not scoring, but the CPU is going to score all the time, it makes it awful.

I tried All star, and thought, maybe its too hard. Went down to Pro. .SAME ISSUES

Unless someone can give me a fix or something, I AM DONE.
