    Re: TNK NHL 25 SLIDERS

I will give em a try. I think the game has a lot of potential. I like the goal varations (always scored the same way in 24) and the skating/positioning. However, I didn´t like the checking and aggression (35-25 hits is way too much). Are you happy with it or do you consider lowering these sliders? I had checking on 10 and aggression on 10 btw.)

      Re: TNK NHL 25 SLIDERS

Back for another year. The first thing I did was drop the game speed to 0. It is crazy that they have Speed set at 4 out of the box. As always you know, I've been using your sliders for years. They work for me, so I am happy to see you have a Testing Set up. Here's to another great year.

      Things I've noticed:

      - the game is fast. Skating, passing, etc.
      - I think passing accuracy and shooting accuracy are too high out of the box.
      - penalties (other than tripping) needs to be bumped up.

These are a few things I've picked up so far.

I think the game looks beautiful, especially when it's slowed down. I wish they allowed us to edit the camera options like the old EA NHL games. I miss that feature.

As always, I will be following the thread. Thanks for doing another slider set this year.
I am the lesson after the fall.

        Re: TNK NHL 25 SLIDERS

I'm trying to wrap up a season on Madden and then will be spending much more time on NHL

I wanted to get a set up for testing purposes and the past few years I've just been starting where I left the sliders off from the previous year and it seems to work well.

Appreciate the feedback and will absolutely be making changes to the sliders over the next couple weeks with a goal of having them be "Franchise Ready" for the start of the regular season

Alright.....about to play a test game right now and will post a recap with box score and some video so that people can actually see the game in action, get a feel for the flow/speed of play, etc.

Test Game #1 will be the Boston Bruins (me) at Seattle Kraken (CPU) from Climate Pledge Arena

            TNK - SLIDER TESTING

            Exhibition Game
            Boston Bruins @ Seattle Kraken

            RECAP
The Bruins killed off a pair of early penalties with some solid work from the PK unit and Seattle failed to take advantage of two early PP opportunities. Boston started to generate chances as Joey Daccord was forced to make a point blank save on Matthew Poitras and the Bruins would open the scoring when John Beecher used his speed to get around Tolvanen and took the puck strong to the net sneaking a backhand through Daccord to give Boston a 1-0 lead with 11:57 left in the 1st period. The Bruins carried the play for period but we would go to the 1st intermission with Boston leading 1-0 and out-shooting Seattle 15-5

The Kraken were playing much better in the early stages of the 2nd period earning a PP opportunity after Mark Kastelic was called for tripping but Seattle could not cash in on the PP and Boston returned to even strength. The score remained 1-0 until midway through the period when Will Borgen took a slashing penalty to put Boston on the PP and they would score 0:12 left on the man advantage when Brad Marchand carried the puck down low and found big Justin Brazeau in the slot for a one timer to make it 2-0 with 9:16 remaining in the 2nd period. Joonas Korpisalo came up with a big save to deny Jaden Schwartz on a breakaway keeping it a 2-0 game and Brazeau would get called for tripping to put Seattle on the PP with 3:32 left in the period. The Kraken had some good looks on the man advantage and Korpisalo made some tough saves including a point blank save on a Jared McCann chance but McCann would collect his own rebound and score on the second chance for a PP goal cutting the Bruins lead to 2-1 with 2:23 still to play in the 2nd period. Daccord made a great save to deny David Pastrnak in the final minute and the 2nd period came to an end with the Bruins leading 2-1 while the shots were now 21-16 in favor of Boston

The Bruins entered the 3rd period protecting a 2-1 lead and Seattle had an incredible chance just over a minute into the 3rd period when Matty Beniers grabbed a loose puck and walked in alone but was tripped as he got the shot off by Nikita Zadorov as Korpisalo made the save but Beniers was awarded a penalty shot. Korpisalo came up with another huge stop as he denies Beniers on the penalty shot keeping it a 2-1 game with 18:58 to play. Seattle had the momentum and was carrying the play leading to another PP opportunity as Max Jones was sent to the box for tripping with 15:32 remaining. The Kraken had a couple good looks on the PP but Korpisalo made saves on shots by Burakovsky and McCann and the PK unit did the rest as Boston returned to even strength with 13:32 to play. The clock ticked down under 10:00 to play in regulation with Boston clinging to a 2-1 lead and the Bruins would get a PP opportunity after a terrible slashing penalty away from the play by Shane Wright with 8:59 remaining. The Kraken would force Korpisalo to cover the puck setting up a faceoff in the Boston end of the ice and Seattle would score a shorthanded goal right off the faceoff as Oliver Bjorkstrand won the draw to Andre Burakovsky who fired a quick shot that Korpisalo got a piece of but the puck would bust through and bounce over the goal line to tie the game up 2-2 with 8:11 left to play. The clock ticked down to the final 5:00 of regulation with the score tied 2-2 and Daccord made a big save on Charlie Coyle who walked into the slot with 2:18 left setting up a faceoff in the Seattle defensive zone. The Bruins and Kraken were both playing with sound defensive structure and the clock ticked down towards the final minute of play when Matthew Poitras and Justin Brazeau converged on Brandon Montour in the neutral zone in front of the Seattle bench to create a turnover and Poitras collected the loose puck and curled away before making an outstanding effort play as Poitras carried the puck with speed to the net with Jamie Oleksiak and Adam Larsson both hacking at him and beat Daccord with a move to his backhand for an unassisted goal to give Boston a 3-2 lead with 0:57 left to play in regulation. The Kraken would pull the goalie for the extra attacker and Morgan Geekie would put the game away with an empty net goal after he blocked a shot in the defensive zone before collecting the loose puck and scoring into the empty net with 0:17 left to give Boston a 4-2 victory

            GAME NOTES
            * I am very happy with how the sliders played and felt in this game

            * Will play another game or two tomorrow night

              TNK - SLIDER TESTING

I'm feeling pretty confident that these sliders are Franchise ready

              * I'm seeing great variety of plays in all situations by both myself and the CPU

              * Things feel right as far as skating speed, turning, change of direction, etc

              * Nothing is standing out screaming at me to be adjusted

Here are a couple videos of goals by Brad Marchand and Brent Burns from a game I was playing earlier

                  UPDATE

Just a few things before Opening Night of the real life NHL season

                  * As I posted yesterday, I don't see any reason to change any settings on the sliders in Post #1 of the thread for right now. Of course, we are always one patch or tuner away from that changing things....but for now, the sliders are playing great and I feel confident that you can start a franchise with the sliders. Also, feel free to tweak them if you feel like your skill level or playing style requires you to make an adjustment. I only ask that you don't take my sliders and then post them with a tweak and call them your own slider set without giving credit

                  * If you are looking for an excellent roster to use to start your franchise. I downloaded a roster from a user named "gsize19" that he uploaded today on October 7th and the file is named "24-24 Franchise Rdy v1.4". This roster contains a ton of prospects who are not in the EA Sports roster and he did not miss much at all. There are players who last year played NCAA and turned pro created and assigned to their proper organization with the AHL teams they are playing for this year. There are also a ton of players from the EA roster that were assigned to OHL, WHL, QMJHL that are now with their AHL teams and he nailed those as well. The roster is up to date as of today - he even has Jeremy Swayman updated contract and James Reimer is on the Ducks (He was claimed by Anaheim today). I 100% endorse this guys roster

                  * I'm going through the rosters and just making final adjustments, setting team lines, editing goalies, etc......then I will be starting my Boston Bruins franchise in the next day or two

                      TNK - BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

I am ready to start my Bruins franchise after getting the rosters, goalie equipment, etc. My Opening Night roster is listed below.....couple other notes:

                      * Jeremy Swayman missed training camp and the entire preseason before finally ending his holdout and signing a new 8 year / $66m contract that will keep the young star goaltender in Boston through the prime years of his career.

                      * Joonas Korpisalo will get the start in net for Boston on Opening Night after being in net throughout training camp and preseason while preparing to be the #1 to begin the season if Swayman was still holding out. The coaching staff felt like Korpisalo deserved the start

                        TNK - BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

                        Game #1 of the Season
                        Boston Bruins (0-0-0) @ Florida Panthers (0-0-0)

The Bruins open up the 2024/2025 in south Florida for a big Opening Night matchup against the Florida Panthers at FLA Live Arena. The Panthers and Bruins have become one of the best rivalries in the NHL as the Panthers have ended the Bruins season each of the past two seasons but both series were absolutely wars that pushed Florida to the limit. The Panthers will raise the franchise first Stanley Cup Banner prior to the game in a ceremony that will have the building. Joonas Korpisalo gets the start in net for Boston after Jeremy Swayman missed the entire preseason before signing a new 8 year / $66m contract a couple days ago ending his holdout. Sergei Bobrovsky will be in net for Florida

                        RECAP
1st Period - The Bruins and Panthers dropped the puck to begin the 2024/2025 NHL season and Florida would get an early PP opportunity as Morgan Geekie was called for slashing just 1:22 into the game. The Panthers were unable to generate a single shot on the PP as the Bruins PK unit was outstanding and Boston returned to even strength with 16:22 left in the 1st period. Joonas Korpisalo made a big save on the ensuing shift as he denied Tomas Nosek who was in with a step on the Bruins D but failed to score and the game remained scoreless. The Bruins opened the scoring as Justin Brazeau laid out to block a point shot by Aaron Ekblad and then moments later would separate Evan Rodriguez from the puck in the neutral zone allowing Cole Koepke to gather the loose puck with speed to create an odd man rush the other way and John Beecher finished off a feed from Koepke for the goal giving Boston a 1-0 lead with 11:57 left in the 1st period. The Bruins started to control play leading to another scoring chance for the 4th line as Mark Kastelic fed Cole Koepke for a scoring chance but Sergei Bobrovsky made a nice save to keep it a 1-0 game with 5:12 left in the 1st period. Aleksander Barkov was sent to the box for a slash putting Boston on the PP with just over 3:00 left in the period. The Bruins won the ensuing faceoff and had some very good puck movement leading to a couple chances and saves by Bobrovsky before Justin Brazeau collected a rebound to the side of the net and would wait for a lane to open before pass across to Trent Frederic who teed up a rocket from the left faceoff dot for a PP goal making it 2-0 with 2:58 remaining in the period. The Bruins would have a chance to open up a 3 goal lead as they went back to the PP on a slashing call against Ekblad with 1:17 left but the Florida PK was doing a good job as the 1st period came to a close with the Bruins leading 2-0 and holding a 15-6 edge in shots

2nd Period - The Bruins began the 2nd period with 43 seconds of PP time carrying over and Florida was on the verge of finishing off the kill when Charlie McAvoy fired a long wrist shot through a screen from the point that broke through Bobrovsky for another PP goal with 2 seconds left on the penalty to Ekblad giving the Bruins a commanding 3-0 lead in front of a stunned crowd at FLA Live Arena who find their team trailing 3-0 early in the 2nd period after raising the first Stanley Cup Championship banner an hour prior. The Panthers answered just under a minute later as Korpisalo made a couple saves to deny Tkachuk before Gustav Forsling carried the puck back into the offensive zone along the wall and fired a pass across to Matthew Tkachuk crashing the net and he would get the puck to sneak through Korpisalo for a huge goal to get the Panthers on the board and cut the Bruins lead to 3-1 with 18:24 still to play in the 2nd period. AJ Greer took a bad penalty a minute later and the fans were starting to get on the refs as Boston goes back to the PP. The Panthers did a good job on the PK and Mason Lohrei was called for tripping with 27 seconds left on the penalty to Greer and we would skate 4 on 4 before Greer exited the box and Florida would have 1:33 of PP time to work with. Korpisalo made a couple quality saves and the Panthers failed to convert with the man advantage as the bruins return to even strength leading 3-1 with just over 13:00 left in the period. Sam Bennett made his presence felt as he laid out Max Jones with a huge open ice hit that sent Jones slowly back to the bench and Jones would remain in the game although he was obviously hurt on the play. Florida was controlling play in the late stages of the period and both Carter Verhaeghe and Sam Bennett had chances but were denied on good stops by Korpisalo keeping it a 3-1 game with under 5:00 left in the 2nd period. The fans continued to voice their frustration with the officials as any momentum Florida was building was put on hold when AJ Greer was called for interference sending the Bruins to the PP with 1:46 left. Aleksander Barkov had a good shorthanded chance in the final minute of the period but Korpisalo made a nice stop while Bobrovsky made a nice glove save on a shot by David Pastrnak at the other end and the 2nd period would come to an end with the Bruins leading 3-1 and the shots were now 24-21 in favor of Boston

3rd Period - The Bruins had 14 seconds of PP time left as we begin the 3rd period with Boston leading 3-1and looking for a solid defensive effort in the 3rd period as the Panthers had the momentum and were carrying play late in the 2nd period and are sure to come out flying in the 3rd period as they look to stage a comeback. The Panthers returned to even strength and Eetu Luostarinen would get an early chance from the high slot but was denied by Korpisalo. The Bruins were playing sound defensive hockey and Bobrovsky made a pair of saves on shots by Mark Kastelic as the score remained 3-1 with 15:00 left in the 3rd period. Korpisalo made another save on a chance by Jesper Boqvist and froze the puck for a faceoff to his left. The Bruins would gain possession the ensuing faceoff and would head up the ice where David Pastrnak and Elias Lindholm executed a beautiful give and go with Pastrnak finishing off a feed from Lindholm on the rush for the goal to extend the Bruins lead to 4-1 with 13:42 remaining. The Bruins would put the game away a few minutes later as Hampus Lindholm broke up a rush with Sam Bennett and AJ Greer and Trent Frederic would gather the loose puck and fire a quick pass to send Justin Brazeau in on a partial breakaway where he would beat Bobrovsky to push the lead to 5-1 midway through the 3rd period with 10:44 remaining in regulation. Korpisalo made the save on a Bennett chance from the high slot moments later and Brandon Carlo would be called for holding to send the Panthers to the PP with under 10:00 to play. Florida generated some good chances on the man advantage but Korpisalo was sharp in the Boston net and the Bruins returned to even strength with 7:50 remaining. The Panthers scored just 13 seconds after the PP expired as Sam Reinhart would be credited with an unassisted goal after Korpisalo stopped a Carter Verhaeghe shot but the puck was loose in the crease and Reinhart swatted at the rebound with Charlie McAvoy eventually knocking the puck into the net to make it 5-2 with 7:37 remaining. The Panthers continued to generate chances but Korpisalo made a pair of big saves on Luostarinen and Lundell chances keeping it 5-2 as the clock ticked down under 5:00 to play in regulation. Korpisalo denied Sam Bennett from in close and the clock would tick down under 2:00 to play. Florida continued to pepper Korpisalo and Matthew Tkachuk would score his 2nd goal of the night on a deflection of a point shot from Ekblad cutting the deficit to 5-3 with 1:13 left in regulation. Florida would get Bobrovsky off for the extra attacker with under 1:00 to play and Korpisalo made a glove save on a Verhaeghe shot and froze the puck for a whistle with 0:31 remaining. The Panthers had a great chance off the ensuing faceoff but Korpisalo denied XXXXXX and Boston would go the other way with Pavel Zacha scoring the empty net goal with 0:20 left to finish off an impressive 6-3 opening night road victory for the Bruins over the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers

                        GAME NOTES
                        * The Bruins open the 2024/2025 season with a strong showing as they go to Florida and beat the defending champs 6-3 on a night where the Panthers raised their first Stanley Cup banner in franchise history.

                        * The Bruins open the season with a win improving to 1-0-0 while the Panthers begin their defense of the Stanley Cup trophy with a loss falling to 0-1-0

                        * The Bruins got 6 goals from 6 different scorers as John Beecher, Trent Frederic, David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy, Justin Brazeau and Pavel Zacha all scored for Boston

                        * Charlie McAvoy and Trent Frederic each had a 3 point night for Boston with both scoring a goal and recording 2 assists on the night

                        * Joonas Korpisalo was expected to be the new backup goalie in Boston after being acquired as part of the Linus Ullmark trade in the off-season but Jeremy Swayman did not report to camp as he and the Bruins could not come to terms on a new contract. Swayman finally signed a new 8 year / $66m contract with the Bruins ending his holdout a day before the regular season while Korpisalo had been with the team throughout camp and was rewarded by Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery with the start on Opening Night. Korpisalo rewarded his coach with a very strong performance in his Bruins debut as he stopped 39 of 42 shots for Boston and made several big stops at key moments which kept Florida from building momentum

                        * Sergei Bobrovsky allowed 5 goals making 27 saves on 32 shots in a tough opener for Florida

                        * The Bruins will have a day off tomorrow as they travel to Boston for their home opener at TD Garden against the Montreal Canadiens. Montreal lost their opener to the Toronto Maple Leafs and will be looking for their first win of the season. TD Garden will be rocking as the Bruins are coming off a big win and Jeremy Swayman will be making his season debut fresh off signing a 8 year / $66m contract with the Bruins and ending his holdout which caused him to miss training camp and the entire pre-season.

                        HIGHLIGHTS & BOX SCORE
                        * I'm including some longer highlights early in the season so that people can get a better feel for seeing the flow of gameplay, speed / pace of play, more puck movement and the little plays in all 3 zones that lead to the goals and highlights, etc.

                          Montreal Canadiens (0-1-0) @ Boston Bruins (1-0-0)

The Bruins are set to play their home opener and will host their arch rivals as the Montreal Canadiens come to TD Garden for what is always a big game when the two Original Six teams and Atlantic Division rivals meet. Jeremy Swayman will make his season debut after serving as the backup on Opening Night in Florida fresh off signing a 8 year / $66m contract with the Bruins ending his holdout which caused him to miss training camp and the entire preseason. The Bruins will make a couple lineup changes as Parker Wotherspoon steps in on D in place of Mason Lohrei while Riley Tufte steps in at F with Max Jones coming out of the lineup

                          RECAP
1st Period - The Canadiens would lose Juraj Slafkovsky to injury on the games opening shift after he blocked a Charlie McAvoy slapshot taking a rocket right off the skate and he would make his way to the bench and straight down the tunnel. Boston would go on the PP just 2:26 into the game as Patrik Laine was called for tripping and the Bruins would score with the man advantage as Brad Marchand took the puck wide on his off-wing before laying a saucer pass into the slot where Pavel Zacha one timed a quick wrist shot beating Cayden Primeau to give Boston a 1-0 lead with 16:18 left in the period. The Bruins and Canadiens were both defending well as Montreal didn't record their first shot until just about midway through the 1st period and Boston had only generated 5 shots at that point as well but had a 1-0 lead. The Canadiens started to generate some offensive chances in the late stages of the period but could not get the puck past Jeremy Swayman while Cayden Primeau settled in after allowing an early goal and the 1st period came to a close with the Bruins leading 1-0 and holding a 12-9 edge in shots

2nd Period - The Bruins had a quick chance off the opening faceoff to begin the 2nd period but Primeau made a nice stop on a John Beecher chance keeping it 1-0. The Canadiens would get their first PP opportunity of the night when Charlie McAvoy was sent to the box for tripping with 19:03 left in the 2nd period. Montreal went to work and generated 4 shots on the PP but were unable to convert with the man advantage as Swayman was sharp in the Boston net and the score remained 1-0 as the Bruins return to even strength with 17:00 left in the period. Both teams continued defending well as we reached the midway mark of the 2nd period with Boston leading 1-0 and the shots were 14-14 with very few quality scoring chances being generated by either team. The Bruins would score a big goal a couple minutes later as they managed the puck well in their defensive zone and would break out cleanly leading to the goal as Trent Frederic carried the puck wide on Matheson before sliding a pass across the slot to big Riley Tufte who beat Primeau to make it 2-0 with 7:26 left in the period. Joel Armia was called for holding to send Boston to the PP with 6:18 remaining the Bruins were unable to get anything going on the PP as the Montreal PK unit did a great job and the Canadiens would get back to even strength with 4:18 left in the period. The Canadiens had a flurry of chances but Swayman made saves to deny Brendan Gallagher, Josh Anderson before robbing Alex Newhook with an excellent blocker save keeping it a 2-0 game with under 2:00 left in the period. The 2nd period came to an end with the Bruins leading 2-0 while the shots were 22-19 in favor of Boston through two periods

3rd Period - The Bruins head to the 3rd period looking for a solid 20 minute effort to finish off what has been a well played and hard fought game through the first two periods and Boston needs to be ready for Montreal to come out flying to start the 3rd period as they look to come from behind in the final 20 minutes. The Canadiens had a chance when a shot from the point was knocked down and the puck bounced right to Jake Evans who was stopped point blank on a big save by Swayman. The Bruins would get a big insurance goal moments later as John Beecher got in on the forecheck knocking Lane Hutson off the puck and Mark Kastelic and Beecher would wind up in a board battle against David Savard and Christian Dvorak before Beecher would dig the puck free from the scrum and come out of the corner and ripped a rocket past Primeau to extend the Bruins lead to 3-0 with 15:16 to play. Montreal would get on the board as we neared the midway mark of the 3rd period on a great play by Brendan Gallagher as Nikita Zadorov had a good stick to disrupt a shot attempt by Justin Barron and the puck would bounce up into the air where Gallagher made a nice play to catch it and drop it down to his stick and fired a quick shot that beat Swayman to cut the deficit to 3-1 with 11:57 still to play. The Canadiens came right back down off the ensuing faceoff and came close to making it a one goal game but Swayman came up big with a pair of point blank saves to deny Nick Suzuki and Alex Newhook and the score remained 3-1. Things got very heated moments later as Suzuki delivered a huge open ice hit to Brad Marchand who stayed down on the ice for a while before finally getting to his feet and heading down the tunnel with the trainer as the Bruins will be without their captain for the final 10:27 of the game. The Bruins were making safe smart plays with the puck happy to bleed the clock down and Gallagher would take a holding penalty to send Boston to the PP leading 3-1 with 5:33 remaining. The Bruins PP was cut short as Kastelic was called for tripping just 15 seconds into the PP and we would skate 4 on 4 for the next 1:45. Gallagher and Kastelic would each exit the penalty box as we returned to 5 on 5 play with the clock winding down under 2:00 to play in regulation with Boston hanging on to the 3-1 lead and Montreal continuing to get pucks to the net trying to cut the deficit in half and make it a one goal game. Suzuki would get tripped by Nikita Zadorov to put Montreal on the PP with 1:11 remaining. The Canadiens would get Primeau off for the extra attacker and were skating 6 against 4 but the Bruins PK unit was doing a good job as they cleared the zone a couple times before Montreal gained the offensive zone and Swayman stopped a shot from Suzuki and held on for a stoppage with 0:25 left. The final seconds would tick away and the Bruins hang on for a

                          GAME NOTES
                          * The Bruins win their home opener beating the Canadiens by a score of 3-1 at TD Garden

                          * The Bruins improve to 2-0-0 while the Canadiens fall to 0-2-0 on the season

                          * Jeremy Swayman was making his debut after sitting out the season opener in Florida after signing a new 8 year contract and Swayman was excellent stopping 26 of 27 shots and didn't look like a guy who missed all of training camp and the preseason

                          * The Bruins goals came from 3 different scorers as John Beecher (2), Pavel Zacha (2) and Riley Tufte (1) scored for Boston. Beecher and Zacha have both scored in each of the Bruins first two games of the season while Tufte scored in his first game as a Bruin after coming over from Colorado in free agency

                          * The Canadiens goal came from Brendan Gallagher (1) for his 1st goal of the season

                          * Cayden Primeau started in net for Montreal and stopped 26 of 29 shots

                          * INJURY - Brad Marchand exited the game midway through the 3rd period after taking a huge open ice hit from Nick Suzuki that left Marchand with what the team is calling an "upper body injury" that is expected to keep him out for a month.

                          * INJURY - Montreal lost Juraj Slafkovsky in the opening minute of the game as he blocked a shot by McAvoy with his skate and did not return

                          * The Bruins will get a boost to the lineup for their next game as 20 year old forward Matthew Poitras is set to return and make his season debut after a minor preseason injury kept him out of the lineup for the first two games of the season. The return of Poitras is huge for the Bruins offensive attack after the injury to Brad Marchand

                          * The Bruins remain at home for their next game as the Los Angeles Kings come to TD Garden for a Saturday matinee game. The Kings are 1-0-0 while the Bruins are 2-0-0 in what should be a good test for both teams

                            RECAP
1st Period - The Kings would get an early PP opportunity 3:35 into the game with Mason Lohrei going to the box for tripping. Los Angeles went to work on the man advantage and moved the puck around leading to multiple good looks for Kevin Fiala but Jeremy Swayman turned each of them aside and the Kings PP was cut short with a little under a minute remaining when Trevor Moore took a slashing penalty. The teams skated 4 on 4 before Boston took over on a shortened PP but the Kings would score as Quinton Byfield made a great read to intercept a pass by Nikita Zadorov and walked in alone with a step on Hampus Lindholm and beat Swayman with a move to his forehand for a shorthanded goal giving the Kings a 1-0 lead with 14:19 left in the 1st period. The Bruins answered a few minutes later as Swayman made a nice save to deny Anze Kopitar and Boston would transition the puck the other way where Mark Kastelic protected the puck to get around Kyle Burroughs before finding Mason Lohrei jumping into the play in the slot and he would beat David Rittich to tie the game 1-1 with 12:04 left. Kastelic was called for holding on the ensuing shift and Los Angeles would score late in the PP as the puck came to Arthur Kaliyev who wound up and fired a rocket that beat Swayman who was screened on the play and the Kings take a 2-1 lead with 9:46 still to play in the 1st period. Boston responded again just over a minute later as Trent Frederic passed to Max Jones who just stepped on the ice and had a full head of steam as he split the D and was able to beat Rittich on his backhand for a pretty goal to tie the game 2-2 with 8:27 left. Swayman and Rittich would both make big saves late in the period and we would head to the 1st intermission with the score tied 2-2 and Los Angeles out-shooting Boston 14-11 after 20 minutes

2nd Period - The Bruins had a good scoring chance in the opening minutes of the 2nd period as Justin Brazeau set up Trent Frederic on an odd man rush but David Rittich made a clutch save keeping the score tied 2-2. The Bruins were carrying play early in the 2nd period before Charlie McAvoy was called for tripping sending the Kings to the PP. The Bruins were half way through the penalty kill when John Beecher had Fiala pinned to the boards and was called for holding to give LA a two man advantage with just over a minute left on the initial penalty to McAvoy. The Kings went to work on the 5 on 3 PP and moved the puck around nicely creating multiple chances as Swayman was under heavy pressure and he would make a couple big saves as he stopped a point shot and then sprawled out to rob Byfield on the door step but Nikita Zadorov briefly had possession but couldn't clear as Byfield knocked the puck off his stick and put it past Swayman who was still sprawled out in the crease as the Kings strike for their second PP goal of the night to take a 3-2 lead with 13:31 left in the 2nd period. The Bruins would get McAvoy back but the Kings still had over a minute of PP time left skating 5 on 4 but Trevor Moore would take a hooking penalty to even things up as the teams would now skate 4 on 4 for 34 seconds before Beecher exited the box and Boston would have 1:24 of PP time to work with. The Bruins cashed in on the PP as Justin Brazeau moved the puck up top to David Pastrnak who worked it right back down low to Max Jones who tapped it back to Brazeau on a rotation allowing Brazeau to use his size and reach to protect the puck as he curled towards the middle of the ice and beat Rittich with a nice shot to tie the game at 3-3 with 11:22 still to play in the 2nd period. Kyle Burroughs tripped Matthew Poitras to put Boston back on the PP just 20 seconds after the tying goal and the Bruins now have a man advantage with a chance to take the lead. The Bruins would score right off the ensuing faceoff as they had a flurry of chances and Charlie McAvoy would score but the referee waved the goal off immediately for goalie interference as McAvoy made contact with Rittich while crashing the crease and the score remains 3-3. The Bruins had good puck movement and Rittich would make a couple big time saves to deny Elias Lindholm and Pavel Zacha before covering up for a faceoff. The Bruins continued to apply pressure and Mikey Anderson was called for slashing making it a two man advantage as Boston would have 1:03 of 5 on 3 PP time. The Kings would get Burroughs out of the box just as Pavel Zacha was digging the puck loose from a scrum in front of the benches and Zacha would hit Matthew Poitras with a nice pass sending Poitras in on a partial breakaway and he would deke Rittich with a move to his backhand for a PP goal to give Boston a 4-3 lead with 8:56 remaining in the 2nd period. Los Angeles would get a PP opportunity a minute later as Cole Koepke was called for holding and the Bruins PK unit was doing a good job on the kill before Zadorov was called for slashing with 29 seconds left on the initial penalty to Koepke to make it a two man advantage for LA. The Kings went to work on a brief 5 on 3 before Koepke exited the box and Los Angeles still had 1:30 of PP time remaining now skating 5 on 4. The Bruins PK unit was doing a good job with under a minute left on the kill before Byfield lost control of the puck but it would go right to Trevor Moore who beat Swayman for a PP goal tying the game back up at 4-4 with 5:22 still to play in the 2nd period. The Bruins regained the lead a couple minutes later as Mark Kastelic and John Beecher executed a perfect give and go play where Kastelic was streaking towards the net after dishing to Beecher who fired a hard pass back to Kastelic who angled his blade perfectly to redirect the puck and it would beat Rittich on the change of direction to give the Bruins a 5-4 lead with 3:21 left in the period. Boston had good offensive zone pressure in the final minute and the horn would sound ending a wild 2nd period as the Bruins and Kings go to 2nd intermission with the Bruins leading 5-4 and holding a 27-21 edge in shots after 40 minutes of hockey

3rd Period - The Bruins head to the 3rd period trying to protect a 5-4 lead and looking for a strong defensive effort in the final 20 minutes of what has been an entertaining hockey game. Boston would go to the PP after Trevor Moore went to the box for holding with 17:18 to play. The Bruins had some good looks on the PP but Rittich came up with clutch saves on Poitras, McAvoy and Lindholm chances and the Kings returned to even strength with just over 15:00 to play in regulation and Boston leading 5-4. Swayman made a nice save to deny Kopitar from the high slot on the rush with just under 13:00 left and the Bruins would score a minute later when Charlie McAvoy fired a shot from the point that deflected off of Elias Lindholm and squirted past Rittich on the change of direction for a big goal to give the Bruins a little breathing room with a 6-4 lead and 11:50 remaining in regulation. The Bruins put the game away on the ensuing shift as Matthew Poitras stole a pass and was denied on a great save by Rittich but the puck was loose and Max Jones would knock it in for his 2nd goal of the game making it 7-4 with 10:54 to play. The Kings refused to go away quietly though as Arthur Kaliyev was denied by Swayman on a good chance but LA was able to keep the puck in the offensive zone and Kaliyev would find Alex Turcotte with a back door pass for a big goal to cut the deficit to 7-5 with 8:48 remaining. The Bruins pushed the lead back to 3 goals with 5:15 left when Hampus Lindholm put a shot on net from the point that was tipped on the way in by Matthew Poitras for the deflection goal making it 8-5 with 5:15 remaining. The final 5:00 would tick away

                            GAME NOTES
                            * The Bruins continue their impressive offensive start to the season as they put up 8 goals in a 8-5 victory over the Los Angeles Kings at TD Garden

                            * The Bruins improve to 3-0-0while the Kings fall to 1-1-0

                            * Matthew Poitras was in the lineup for the first time this season after a minor injury during the preseason caused him to miss the first 2 games of the regular season and Poitras had a big game in his season debut scoring 2 goals while adding 1 assist for a 3 point night. The 20 year old Poitras comes into his 2nd NHL season with high expectations after bursting onto the scene as a complete surprise to the organization as a 19 year old and making the team out of training camp last season. Poitras put up 15 points in 33 games before a shoulder injury ended an impressive rookie season and his development will be a major factor in the Bruins success

                            * Max Jones had a 3 point night for Boston while Quinton Byfield had a 3 point night for Los Angeles with both players registering 2 Goals & 1 Assist

                            * Jeremy Swayman made 22 saves on 27 shots for Boston while David Rittich made 31 saves on 39 shots as neither goalie played particularly well in this game

                            * The Bruins will remain at home to wrap up this 3 game home stand as the Florida Panthers come to TD Garden for a big Atlantic Division clash and the Panthers will be looking for payback after the Bruins defeated the Panthers on Opening Night in Florida on the night where the Panthers raised their first Stanley Cup Champion banner to the rafters. Florida has had a rough start to the season as the defending champs are 0-3-0 and now face a red hot Bruins team who Florida knocked out of the playoffs each of the past two seasons and would love to see the Panthers continue to struggle and keep them win-less on the season

The Bruins and Panthers meet at TD Garden for the second time already this season and Florida will be looking for pay back after the Bruins beat the Panthers 6-3 on Opening Night in Florida. These two teams have developed quite the rivalry in recent years as the Panthers have knocked the Bruins out of the playoffs each of the past two seasons but both series were absolute wars where the Bruins gave the Panthers everything they could handle. The games are always very physical and the intensity level ramps up whenever these two teams meet and the Panthers are looking to get on track after starting the season 0-3-0 while the Bruins look to continue their hot start as they are 3-0-0 to begin their season

                              RECAP
1st Period - The play was pretty even in the early stages of the 1st period with neither team able to take control of play or sustain much pressure offensively. The game remained scoreless until Boston had some good zone time and opened the scoring when Andrew Peeke shot from the point was tipped on the way in by Trent Frederic and Sergei Bobrovsky made a nice save on the deflection but the rebound went right to Matthew Poitras who scored as Bobrovsky could not make the diving desperation save as Boston takes a 1-0 lead with 12:22 left in the period. Boston was out-shooting Florida 5-3 midway through the period as shots and scoring chances were hard to come by as both teams were playing physical and defending well. The Bruins extended their lead a couple minutes later when mark Kastelic poked the puck away from Dmitry Kulikov at the blue line and sprung himself for a breakaway where he would snap a quick shot past Bobrovsky glove side to make it 2-0 with 8:16 to play in the 1st period. Florida had a great chance moments later as Sam Reinhart threaded the needle with a nice pass to send in Aleksander Barkov all alone but he was denied on a big save by Joonas Korpisalo keeping the score 2-0 with under 6:00 left in the period. Trent Frederic was called for tripping to send Florida to the PP with 3:26 remaining in the 1st period. The Panthers would win the ensuing faceoff and score in a matter of seconds as Nate Schmidt fired a shot through a screen from the point and Korpisalo would get a piece of it but the puck would break through him for a big PP goal to get the Panthers on the board and cut the Bruins lead to 2-1. The Panthers were sparked by the Schmidt goal and came right back into the offensive zone leading to a holding call against Elias Lindholm to send Florida right back to the PP. The Panthers were midway through the PP without a shot on net when David Pastrnak tripped Adam Boqvist to give Florida a two man advantage. The Panthers moved the puck around on the 5 on 3 PP leading to a good look for Boqvist but his point shot was stopped and smothered by Korpisalo to freeze the puck for a faceoff. The Panthers gained possession off the ensuing faceoff and set up in the offensive zone and Cole Koepke would disrupt a shot attempt by Gustav Forsling but the loose puck would go right to Sam Reinhart down low to the side of the net and he would make a move to his backhand beating Korpisalo as the Panthers score a pair of PP goals late in the period to come back and tie the game 2-2 with 0:59 remaining in the period. Lindholm exited the box on the Reinhart goal but the Bruins were still shorthanded and the 1st period came to an end with the score tied 2-2 and the shots even at 10-10

2nd Period - The Panthers had 35 seconds of PP time carrying over to begin the 2nd period and Korpisalo made a nice save on a shot from Carter Verhaeghe and Boston would finish off the penalty kill as Pastrnak exits the box and the Bruins get back to even strength. Korpisalo made his biggest save of the night moments later as the Panthers had heavy offensive zone pressure and Verhaeghe would set up Matthew Tkachuk for a one timer in the slot but he was robbed on an outstanding glove save by Korpisalo who hung on to freeze the puck. The Bruins took the lead on the ensuing shift as Mark Kastelic entered the offensive zone on the right wing before curling and finding Charlie McAvoy trailing the play in the high slot and McAvoy fired a rocket beating Bobrovsky to give Boston a 3-2 lead with 17:04 to play in the 2nd period. Bobrovsky stopped shots from Kastelic and Lohrei at one end while Korpisalo denied Eetu Luostarinen and Anton Lundell at the other end as we passed the midway mark of the 2nd period with Boston leading 3-2. Bobrovsky made a big save to deny Elias Lindholm in close with under 4:00 to play in the period and Korpisalo made a point blank save on a Luostarinen chance with 2:00 left as the score remained 3-2. The 2nd period came to a close with the Bruins leading 3-2 and the shots were 20-17 in favor of Boston after two periods

3rd Period - The stage was set for what should be an entertaining finish to what has been an excellent hockey game as the teams head to the 3rd period with the Bruins leading 3-2 and looking for a solid defensive effort in the final 20 minutes while the Panthers will be playing with desperation as they try to avoid starting the season 0-4-0. Pavel Zacha was called for interference just 17 seconds into the 3rd period to put Florida on the PP looking for the game tying goal. The Panthers were unable to cash in on the man advantage as David Pastrnak came flying up the ice for a shorthanded bid as he fired a shot on the rush that was kicked out by Bobrovsky and Aaron Ekblad would be called for slashing at the tail end of the PP. The teams would skate 4 on 4 for 18 seconds before Zacha exited the box and Boston would have a man advantage with 1:42 of PP time to work with. The Bruins moved the puck around nicely on the PP generating some very good looks but Bobrovsky made some big saves denying Pavel Zacha, Charlie Coyle and Trent Frederic and keeping it a 3-2 game. The Panthers PK unit survives as Ekblad exits the box and Florida returns to even strength before getting a big PP opportunity of their own seconds later as Zacha was lucky he was only assessed a two minute minor penalty after taking a run at Carter Verhaeghe along the boards and hitting him square in the back as the Panthers would head to the PP looking for the equalizer with 15:25 remaining. Charlie McAvoy made a great defensive play early in the PP as Boqvist and Verhaeghe failed to generate a shot on a 2 on 1 rush that was broken up with a good stick from McAvoy. Florida had a few chances on the PP but Korpisalo stopped shots by Bennett, Verhaeghe and Reinhart and the Bruins PK comes through as they return to even strength holding on to a 3-2 lead. The Panthers were starting to control play leading to chances for Evan Rodrigues and Carter Verhaeghe but Korpisalo came up with clutch saves and the clock would stop with under 11:00 to play in regulation with Boston clinging to a 3-2 lead. The ensuing faceoff was to the left of Korpisalo and Rodrigues would win the draw back to Dmitry Kulikov who beat Korpisalo who may have been screened a bit with a rocket from up top tying the game at 3-3 with 10:39 left in regulation. The stage was set for a thrilling finish as the Bruins and Panthers were tied 3-3 and both teams were competing with playoff level intensity as the clock ticked down under 10:00 to play. The Panthers would get another big PP opportunity when Reinhart was denied by Korpisalo but was slashed by Brandon Carlo on the shot attempt to send Florida to the PP with 8:43 remaining. The Panthers would strike right off the ensuing faceoff as Reinhart won the draw back to his defense and Gustav Forsling went D to D over to Adam Boqvist who fired a shot from the top of the circle and Matthew Tkachuk would be credited with the goal as he got his stick on the shot that beat Korpisalo on the change of direction for a go ahead goal giving the Panthers a 4-3 lead with 8:40 left in regulation. The Bruins found themselves trailing 4-3 and in danger of suffering their first loss of the season while the Panthers are trying to hang on to finish off their first win of the season. The Bruins were generating chances but Bobrovsky denied Pastrnak on a shot from the high slot and the clock would tick under 5:00 to play and a point shot through a screen by Mason Lohrei beat Bobrovsky but the puck rang off the post and stayed out with 4:35 remaining. Bobrovsky and Korpisalo both made clutch saves as Bobrovsky denied Frederic at one end before the Panthers rushed the other way where Korpisalo denied Aleksander Barkov and covered for a faceoff stopping the clock with 3:22 to play. The Bruins sent out the 4th line with a faceoff coming to the right of Korpisalo and the Panthers would win the faceoff but the Bruins would gain possession as Cole Koepke skated out from behind his own net and fired a stretch pass up ice to Riley Tufte who entered the offensive zone using his size and reach to shield the puck and carry it deep before passing across the slot to John Beecher streaking to the net on the far side with position on Kulikov and Beecher would take the pass from Tufte and shoot quickly on his backhand just sneaking the puck between Bobrovsky shoulder and the post for a huge game tying goal as the Bruins even things up 4-4 with 2:57 left in the 3rd period. The TD Garden crowd was rocking as we enter the final 2:00 of regulation but the Panthers would retake the lead as Korpisalo made a pair of excellent saves as he denied the initial shot from Lundell and then got the pad over to deny Luostarinen on the rebound before the puck went right to the stick of Mackenzie Entwistle who buried the 3rd chance for Florida giving the Panthers a 5-4 lead with 1:31 left. Boston gained possession and Korpisalo would race to the bench for the extra attacker as the Poitras carried the puck deep into the offensive zone with 1:15 remaining. The Bruins would never generate a quality chance as the Panthers did a great job of defending and time would run out on Boston as the Panthers pickup their first win of the season and hand the Bruins their first loss of the season by a score of 5-4 in what was as entertaining of a regular season game as you will see

                              * The Bruins and Panthers treated the fans to a playoff level battle between two very good hockey teams that have developed a genuine hate of each other over the past couple seasons and the game was tied 4-4 with under 2:00 to play when Mackenzie Entwistle buried a 3rd chance opportunity after Joonas Korpisalo made a pair of excellent saves but could not make the desperation save and the Panthers would go on to win 5-4

                              * The Bruins suffer their first loss falling to 3-1-0 while the Panthers shake off the Stanley Cup hangover recording their first win moving to 1-3-0
