How do you set up your Online Dynasty with your friends?

We are all in the same conference and all gotten pretty good at the game. There are 5 of us. It’ll be impossible for us to all get to the CFB playoff and I was thinking maybe we should all be in separate conferences and try that out? Idk. It is also fun playing each other but stinks when we are all pretty darn good and only one or two can compete for a title. What do you all do?

In my online dynasty, we play in different conferences. Usually the only times we play each other is if we cross in bowls or on the recruiting trail

My dynasty has 10 of us broken down into 2 conferences of 5 each. We relegate one user. We play 9 user games and 3 cpu games. What’s the point of being in a dynasty with your friends if you’re not going to schedule each other?

I don’t play OD in ‘25 but I played year long ODs in every version of NCAA that had it and we were always either all 12 in the same conference or plat 6 and 6 in 2 conferences because [emoji3596]

In ‘25 knowing that you all won’t make the playoffs would make it even better as every user v user game would mean more, knowing it could decide if your in or out of the playoffs.

We were debating this very thing in my Online Dynasty this morning. Really there are 2 schools of thought with pros and cons to each.

          1. Stack the users in 1 or 2 conferences with lots of regular season user games:

          Pros:
          • Regular season games mean more.
          • Lots of user games, which is the life blood of an online dynasty.
          • Winning the Conference Championship and/or making it to the playoff is actually an accomplishment.

          Cons:
          • Regular season takes longer because you have to work around people's schedules IRL.
          • Guarantees a lot of regular season user losses.
          • The CFP and bowl season become a lot less exciting if only 2 out of 12 users make the playoff.
          • Higher attrition from the lesser talented users from season-to-season. People get tired of going 4-8 to 7-5 every year because they can't get past the dynasty's top tier users.

          2. Spread the users out and minimize regular season user games to maximize interaction in the CFP.

          Pros:
          • Regular season goes by faster because most games are against the CPU and you don't have to work around IRL schedules.
          • Getting 6 or 7 users in the CFP instead of 2 or 3, making the CFP more fun and higher stakes.
          • Lesser talented players are more engaged by getting into the playoff regularly, even if they get creamed when they get there.

          Cons:
          • Regular season is a lot less exciting.
          • Conference titles and making the CFP isn't that big of an accomplishment.
          • All the user teams become 4 and 5 star prestige juggernauts very quickly if everyone has 9+ win seasons every year without beating up on each other, which isn't very realistic.

In mine we all start in the same conference (Only 3 of us) and then we let the Dynasty take us where we go. BUT I make sure to always schedule us against each other every year, so we still get to play each other.

With only 5 users, it would be pretty easy to put you into 2 separate conferences and then schedule each other in non-con if your goal is to meet up in the playoffs.

Someone could lose every user game and be 8-4 and still have a chance to make both their CCG and the CFP.

We worry less about all getting into the same conference (though we have done that!) and more about trying to schedule each other however possible.

Join either the Big Ten or SEC, I think its entirely possible to get five teams into the playoffs, tho it may be a challenge and unlikely.

Re: How do you set up your Online Dynasty with your friends?

I was in a 6 man online dynasty for NCAA 10, we were mostly in different conferences. I was ND, there was a GT, PSU, Purdue, Alabama, and Miami. So at most 2 per conference. I was only there for one season.

My more active one was for NCAA 12 and there were only 3 of us, I was ND, the other two guys were Clemson and Miami. We definitely scheduled each other. That was back in BCS era though so if we didn't schedule each other then we wouldn't play that year unless we met in the title game or by chance in a bowl matchup.

Given the expanded playoff, I'd say it's probably best to split between conferences and minimize user vs user. If you stack all users in one or two conferences, you're just going to cannibalize each other and most won't make the CFP. If you spread out to 4 or 5 or 6 major conferences (or hell even more if some are playing as mid major teams) then more user teams will make the CFP and it will be much more interesting.

Re: How do you set up your Online Dynasty with your friends?

Now that several patches have come out and we have 1 roster update, we're finally setting up our online dynasty in the coming days and ours is broken out as follows:

-No more than 2 users per conference to start off (10 total users in the league)
-No higher than 3* prestige starting job
-If in a Power 4 conference, have to stay there for at least 4 yrs before entertaining new job offers
-If in a non-Power 4 conference, have to stay at least 2 yrs at your 1st job, and then need to stay at least 3 yrs at any subsequent non-Power 4 job
-Eventually as the non-Power 4 users move up to Power 4 conference teams, then we'll allow up to 3 users per Power 4 conference
-We just drafted teams for our 1st season and here's how they broke out:

                      AAC (North Texas and UAB)
                      ACC (BC)
                      Big Ten (Maryland)
                      Big 12 (ASU)
                      MW (Hawaii and SDSU)
                      Pac 12 (Oregon State)
                      SEC (Vanderbilt)
                      Sun Belt (Coastal Carolina)

Our goal at least starting off was to have a nice spread of users across several different conferences to promote potential match-ups in the playoffs or bowl games. We also prefer to not be playing more than 4-5 user games per season just to avoid difficulties with scheduling and time constraints. We plan on advancing the league about every 4ish days, so 1-2 in game weeks per real life week. I'm a little hesitant to mess with custom schedules and realignment based on what I've heard, but eventually I'd like to set up some sort of rotating non conference schedule for cross conference user games so we'll all at least end up facing off with everyone.

Thank you all for the responses. Curious about house rules. Does anyone have any recruiting rules and etc?
