Question re: Potential Bug (Encourage Transfer)

I am at the end of the first offseason of my online dynasty where it is time to encourage transfers, and I have a 58 overall RS-SR tight end that the game says cannot be transferred.

He isn't a new signee. He was a 53 overall senior tight end in the South Alabama default roster that I redshirted year 1 because obviously he wasn't going to play.

Obviously I know you can't cut new signees, but can you not cut guys you redshirted the previous season, either? Or is this a bug?

I don't believe cutting him would put me below the minimum required number for tight ends, either. I still have 5 more without him.

I'm not sure if it is not being able to cut a redshirt player, but I think it might be an issue with not counting FR as numbers towards the minimum requirements at a position. So the game thinks that if you cut him you will only have 2 TE when in reality you have those 3 FR there as well.

I think it’s cuz it thinks you won’t have enough TEs (but I’m not sure why that is, but it could be the freshmen thing listed above). I know in every season I’ve played I haven’t even been able to redshirt (manually) my FR TEs because it would “put me below the minimum required for this position” even when I’ve had 4 TEs (don’t know if I’ve had 5 or 6). I’ve always had to just leave my TEs off the depth chart so they automatically redshirt due to lack of playing, while I can manually redshirt anyone I want from other positions.

I’ve only noticed this issue with TEs.

        He's definitely a long snapper.

Jesus Christ. These bugs never stop.

Still hoping someone else has encountered this and found a work around. I planned my whole recruiting board and offseason around this guy being cut, as you will note I'm at 86/85.

Anyone else the game makes me cut would actually be useful as upperclassmen in line to play next year, or underclassmen with time to develop.

Honestly not sure whether this was a joke, since I could totally see the programming saying "you can't cut this guy, he is a starter" when the depth chart isn't available during the Encourage Transfers week.

My work around on this is when I figured ran into this in an offline dynasty. I went back to the position player changes save and moved him to a different position where there are plenty of players to cut.

Now in all my online dynasties where I can't go back to a save point, I do advanced encourage transfer planning and move all players I want to cut to FB where I can cut as many as I want.

This works great for that real dead weight you want to cut at spots you don't have replacements but are willing to play people out of position in the short term.

Is there a list of position minimum requirements for encouraging transfers somewhere?

I know the minimum to cut/encourage transfer is not the same as what's listed on the team needs page because that says a minimum of 2 TE's and last year I was unable to get a 60ovr Junior TE off my roster even though I had 4 others.

Heck, I may as well make you even more ticked. He left USA for UCLA, signing in June (https://uclabruins.com/sports/footba...s-drosos/14494).

I have not had this bug, so I can't help. My question is why did you redshirt him? He would still be under 60 overall and could be upgraded with a 2 star recruit.

Who to cut? Every year I get a list of players with the Normal development trait to encourage to transfer if I need them to. The other development traits are Impact, Elite, and Star and players with those traits develop more quickly during and after the season. I am redshirting a 64 and 65 TE who have the Impact development trait and I will encourage a RS FR 69 to transfer next year (Normal development trait) because he will likely back them up when he's a junior.

Try switching your offense (or defense, if cutting on that side) to a different playbook/scheme. If you need to cut a TE, switch to an Air Raid scheme, then you should be able to cut a TE. The game (as far as I can tell) bases your possible cuts on how many players you must have for the playbook, not for any other reason.
