    Team Selection in Franchise

What is the reasoning behind Madden being the only sports franchise on the market (minus NHL because I don’t play that so I don’t know) where I am only allowed to select 1 team in the beginning of a franchise and ONLY play their games? I can’t select all 32 teams or even select a game that is not my team in the mode to play just to change things up every now and then. You can’t call it full control if you don’t actually have full control.

I’m fully aware of the workaround, but who really wants or has time to do that every time they want to start a franchise? It’s been years and this is still accepted? I assume 25 is exactly the same.

They structured Connected Franchise in a way that gives off the impression they had zero foresight in multiple areas. This is one of them. It seems like they are stuck in a spot where the mode being built in a certain way makes this something they cannot change without a large effort which they seem unwilling to do for such a "small" change.

They've done work to make Connected Franchise a better experience, but it truly feels like it was built with a completely incorrect vision and we're still paying for it years later.

I posted this on Twitter too and am getting killed like this is some crazy request or want. Kids are built different these days. I guess we don’t matter anymore.

Connected Franchise mode was and is set up as an online game mode first and foremost, and it just so happens work offline as well. When playing online Franchise in a multiplayer setting, it makes plenty of sense to limit one user to one in-game character / team. Otherwise you'd have chaos.

The complaint that offline users can't use Franchise mode like a sandbox and just do whatever they want with all the teams and only one user is likely a (relatively) easily resolved problem by setting up the lone user character of an offline franchise file with "super-user" privileges (a common thing for database-driven applications). Given that there's the 32-character offline workaround which already exists, however, I cannot imagine that creating that hypothetical superuser character and implementing all the corresponding UI changes to support a character with elevated privileges is that high of a development priority.

I know that it is a pain to control all 32 teams, but that is what I do all of the time. If you are using the current roster and want to use current coaches, it really does not take long to set up. Then, simply save that as a template. Then make another save, from that franchise file for the season you want to play. If later you decide to start another franchise, just go back to the template you created, and then make a new save from it.

Again, I know it is not ideal, but the functionality is there and again really does not take that long to set up. I wish the process was easier, but I do not see them changing it, CM Hooe is correct. It is just not a high priority for them to add. Especially when it is possible to control all 32 teams.

Since it seems like Dynasty Mode was built off of Franchise mode, this will likely be the same in CFB25.

I’m getting that feeling too. Very obnoxious.

The thing that sucks the most about the workaround to me is that if an updated, more accurate roster comes out during the season, you have to do the whole process again. In my 20’s i might have been that dedicated. But at 40, I just don’t have the time or patience to do such things anymore.

It is really simply, just a bit time consuming on the front end.

This is only possible for Offline Franchise.

When you start the franchise and select your team, pick the team you really want to control. It is also the team that will act as the commissioner.

Set up the franchise settings however you want them. Either use the actual coach or create your own. Start the Franchise.

Once you are in the main franchise screen, on PS5, press the middle button. It will take you to a screen and you will see "characters" along the top. RB1 over to that tab. There will be an option to create a new character. Select it and it takes you to the team select screen. Go through the process as normal, set that team's franchise options. Repeat the process until you have all 32 teams done. Then save that file! I usually call it Template. Then, make another save with whatever name you want. That is the file you will use to play the games. The template file will remain untouched. If down the road you want to start the season over again, simply load the template and then create a new save with a new name. The template is still saved and you have another file to play.

                      That is it!
Like I said, it is time consuming but I think it is worth it. What I do is set all of the teams to be pretty much auto on anything I do not want to mess with. You can still go in and handle whatever you want for each team. You can play any game you want, watch any game you want, etc.

Give us a Commissioner Mode that automatically selects all 32 teams and gives us full control over everything. You can select things to be done automatically by the CPU or set things to Manual to have control over what you want to do and how much work you want to put into it.

For those of us that have played a CFM for a decade now it's really not nearly as time consuming to go through all 32 teams to select as it is to get the rosters, depth charts, settings and such the way we want them.

It is indeed an unnecessary step you are put through though.Every other sports title allows you to select all the teams easily before you start in the initial setup.

I haven't played their NHL game in awhile but I think you can only select one team in franchise.I'd have a very hard time with that personally.I could do that in CFB but that's about it.
