Custom League

Greetings again!

Has anyone tried creating and using a custom league in franchise and if so can you share your thoughts?

I was leaning toward going to 36 teams, but I guess I’m concerned about their being enough players to stock 4 expansion teams without depleting the 32 teams already there.

Insights? Suggestions?

If going greater than 32 teams I would assign one NHL roster to each of the first 32, then start assigning strong European league rosters to the remaining to the extra clubs.

Also make sure you create 4 AHL clubs for the extra 4 teams and assign them another 4 strong rosters. If you don’t create the extra AHL teams you’ll get Swedish 2nd division teams instead.

This will give you the entire NHL, AHL, & 8 strong European teams pooled into a fantasy draft. There will be some drop off in the bottom 6 lines but nothing crazy. If not doing a fantasy draft the new teams will be weaker but again, in a few years it’ll all balance.
