Nice write up. I’m curious about how the blocking improvements affected the pass blocking. Did you still see those ridiculous animations where the end would blow by the tackle as the tackle fell to the ground? That was one of the most annoying things in 23 for me. No way that should ever be happening to Lane Johnson of all people.

Madden 24 is a step in the right direction,
Is it mandatory to say that the newest iteration of Madden is a "step in the right direction. Every review or preview of a Madden game always says that.

One of these years we are going to finally see an article state madden football "is the complete package"

Until then I guess being a step in the right direction is the best we can hope for.

To be fair, I would say the last couple years it has generally been a step in the right direction for gameplay haha. But I get it.

I was really enjoying the 23 Beta gameplay, it had me more hyped last year than any other Madden in ages. But then upon release something felt different, I compared some videos I made off of the screen of the beta (never shared of course) and simply couldn't re-create in the full release. Specifically the cutting and body shifting/movement you could do with some of the shiftier RB's with just the control stick movement. It's back and actually better than it was in the 23 beta, I had a run last night in a game that is probably my favorite that I have ever seen in any Madden game ever, I'm 47 and have been playing Madden since Xmas of 1990 on the Genesis. I am worried the same fate awaits 24's stick control movement.

If there is a fear for me, this is the biggest one...that the retail would be different than the Beta. That's why I'm going to do what I did last year. I bought a physical copy of the game. I downloaded a version of the physical copy without any patches on my Expansion Card and played that version offline. Then downloaded a version on my internal storage for updates and patches. The base out of the box version of the game without patches was the closest version to the 23 Beta that there was. Doing the same thing this year.

Reading everywhere and nothing mentioned about fixing virtually no penalties for simulation. Guess we'll go on year 4 with nothing touched.

I think Armor mentioned that penalties are still not accurate

You get a few but not nfl level penalties.

I hated the fact that Dallas was one the most penalized teams in the nfl over the last 3 years but in madden I was seeing only 2 or 3 penalties a game.

I edited player traits and unlike madden 21 that didn't help me I madden 23

Something felt different because it was different. They nerfed the cutting/body movement stuff for the ball carrier post-beta last year.

                        A most distressing development.

Good write up, except for the Geno inaccurate part....you know he led the league in comp % right?

The player ratings in the M24 beta are from the start of the 2022 NFL season before he made his dramatic ascent.

"Another improvement from years prior is the updated player models on the sideline. Previously, random players would be standing on the sidelines with the same numbers and generic names. The sideline is noticeably more lifelike this year, with players fielding realistic numbers and last names on their jerseys"

If this is the case, why am I still seeing generic players on the sidelines with no names on their jerseys? They have generic players mixed in with actual players. Hopefully this is just a product of the beta & will be fixed in the retail version. This totally kills immersion.
