The TrueSim Roster Project: NHL 23

Thought I'd start a new thread to float this out this.

I've been working on a spreadsheet for a potential NHL 23 roster on PS5, but I would need help with entering the ratings in-game to make it happen. It's too much work for me to do both and I simply don't have the time.

I understand many have already gotten their franchises started, so maybe this is a long shot. If anyone is interested in helping, reply here or shoot me a DM.

If no one is interested, I'll resume prep for my annual MLB The Show roster release.

What You Should Know About This Roster
Like previous years, these ratings are calculated using a three-year baseline (when possible) to assess everything a player does on the ice. In addition to ratings, player types, primary and secondary positions, and X-Factor abilities would also receive updates.

Both standard and advanced NHL statistics drive these ratings. Based on last year's results, improvements to the algorithm used to drive ratings calculation were made across the board.

These rosters are developed with franchise mode in mind as that is my favorite mode, and I'm strictly an offline player. The ratings work well within EA's system, but ensure player differentiation is improved.

It's franchise time folks!

Here is what I suggest when getting your franchise mode started.

Owner Mode: On
CPU Trades: On

Auto Owner Mode: On - I like being able to see the aspects of owner mode (revenue, attendance etc) but at this stage, I prefer acting strictly as GM. Let other staff handle setting those pesky hotdog prices.

Fantasy Draft: Off
Player Morale: On - This adds an element of realism to me. It also forces me to juggle lines or consider trades if plaers are complaining. Locker room chemistry does matter in the NHL.

Accept Relocation: Off
NHL Salary Cap: On

Fog of War: On
Show Player Role: On
Show Player Type: On


Auto Sign FAs: Off

GM Firing: On
Head Coach Edits Lines: Off (I turn this on during preseason so prospects get playing time)

Auto Staff Management: Off

Minor League Head Coach Edits Lines: Yes

Sim Engine Scoring: Medium
Sim Engie Shot Frequency: High
These are key for a modern NHL scoring environment. Depending on the year, you can get several 100+ point players or only a few. Or none at all. In one sim, the league leader had a 117 point season. You also get good variance with goalie stats too.

Draft Class Quality: Medium
Generated Prospect Quality: Medium
This allows for a good mix of real and geerated prospects. It keeps things interesting and will force you to scout.

Auto Rotate Goalies: On
While I think goalie rotation could be better, I leave this on. I want to be on the same playing field as the CPU.

Auto Scouting: Pro Only
Trade Difficulty: Hard

I have. 3 or 4 teams are done. Stopped to work on the spreadsheet as doing both takes double the time.

Cy..about how long does it take per team if we helped? I am willing to help with some teams depending on how long it takes for each.

Progress has resumed on this project. herms51 and I have been working together, and we are roughly 1/3 complete! We are grinding away and making solid progress.

Looking good. Don’t forget Kallgren for the Leafs. Noticed he’s missing since he’s played last year and this year unless you left him as a default.

We're at about the halfway point now, but herms51 may no longer be able to assist with the project

If anyone else can assist with in-game input (PS5), please reach out. If no one is able to, this project may not be completed this year as I'm getting ready to prepare for MLB The Show.
