Please God no. A more improved and refined version of last years story would be perfect.

No if it would go that direction with those stories i wouldnt play career at all. I rather see them seperate career mode and the city so they can focus career mode to fully offline and complete focus on the NBA career instead of all the nonsense we have now running around the city doing quests to level up brands

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Quantum Leap story. Someone is trying to change NBA history, and it’s up to you to travel back in time and set things straight! If you’re going to go crazy with things, might as well incorporate some NBA history and tie in the NBA Eras feature.

But in all seriousness, decisions and branching storylines are what the mode needs, but that’s a MASSIVE undertaking. I don’t see 2K wanting to tackle something like that. At the very least, there should be a no-storyline option for the mode. Boil things down to just games, team practices, and endorsements. Maybe you even remove attribute/badge caps in this version of the mode, but make the player only available for play offline. Let people make whatever player they want, and do whatever they want while still getting to earn VC.

Good hell absolutely please don't do this. I don't know why MYCAREER or MYPLAYER started becoming a niche for a full year cycle of poorly written jokes and cheesily acted lines.

                - Literally just call me something we can appreciate, like, "The Franchise" (it's already a name in the game - don't call me Frequency Vibrations or MP). Don't give me family members or friends and family I don't actually have, good Lord. All anybody wants to be in this game is the #1 player on their team or in the league. That's what the STRIVE FOR 99 is all about. Not to be "Play the Romantic Storyline" Career of this guy you have to be for the next 365 days.

                - Let me play fake high school teams. Earn my name and my hype before letting my play however many licensed college teams they choose, I don't care if it's 2 or 4 at this point. THEN bring in people like agents and scouts and marketing and allow ME to choose who to go forward with. Giving them to me like I know this person for 10 years is absolutely immersion breaking. "Hey remember that time we..." no. It never happened I don't know you. But I can create my OWN memories of you when you bring me advertising or choosing who to represent me or who I'm going to take a gamble on to get this contract etc. and what we had to do to get there. 2K doesn't need to fill in a back story whatsoever, but they always do lol. "Here's what many are calling the next big thing to come if he can fulfill his potential" that's all that's needed. Let me go from there without any Friday Night Lights backstory that a soap TV drama writer put into it.

                - Give me a rival, like, an actual 35mpg rival that is a superstar. Not some "rival" that averages 7 minutes a game on 2.5 points and has a social media platform following like he's today's Kobe Bryant.

                - Anything else is just extra and great. If I want to pursue clothing, music, etc. that's great, leave that in the game and let me do it.

                - Honestly let me choose. If I pick going to the gym, I get this attribute grade boosted. But if I choose to go out with the team, I get upgraded team chemistry and they'll let me call plays. If I choose to film session with the coach, he'll up my minutes, etc. Give me choices I could actually care about and have weight to my choice.

                - Let us make franchise decisions EARLY. I know this sounds ridiculous because no team is literally handing the reigns over to a rookie (even a LeBron type) 1st year. BUT that's the video game aspect - and the reason being: If you're given FULL reign to trade away your players and 1st round picks immediately... you'll get instant reward... and then instant regret as well. Awesome, now you have a contender, but you also have NO assets for the next 5-7 years because you traded EVERYTHING away for the immediate season(s). Risk/reward from jumpstreet makes for very exciting and tough decisions.

                - This year starting with the fans not liking the pick my team made, LOVED THAT, because that's almost every single team every single year. KEEP that type of energy. That gave me something to actual play for.

You say that but I’ll raise you this

                  Improving the College experience

2k16's MyCareer was the first time we got to play on college teams in the mode we only got to play for 4 games and couldn't return after our first year. It would really add a lot if we could go back for few years up to 4 years max for those who do not want to be a one and done they could do something similar to what MLB the show does with it's Amateur showcase if you weren't satisfied with how you did you could go back for a year as long as you were still eligible.

Give me a Tournament but make it different enough from the NCAA March Madness tournament so 2k doesn't get a lawsuit.

The college you choose should be important if you go to a bigger school you'll get more attention if you go to a smaller school you'll get less attention. There's a difference between guys who choose to go to Duke and Kentucky and guys who go to Pepperdine. Fictional colleges or real colleges I don't really care.

Also so it wouldn't get confusing if you stay for a few more years in college whenever you declare for the draft it should always be for the 2020 NBA draft/Draft of the year NBA 2k releases with the current rookies. That means if I stayed two years I would have started college in 2018 as a freshman not 2019. If I stayed all four 4 years My player would have started college in 2016 the great thing about the college games are that they never really mention the year they take place in.

I'd like to see Mock Drafts during college so we can get a clearer picture of where we're projected to go.

Alternatively I'd like to see an alternate option for those of us that want to skip college and get paid. I don't want the greedy NCAA making money off my back. We should be able to decide to either go to the G-league or go overseas.

                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Obe8Iof3-e0" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Play a short 7-8 game season overseas either China or Europe whichever one 2k manages to get the rights to and earn a tiny bit more VC than you would if you chose the college route. You're a professional basketball player now and get paid to play basketball. Being a professional you can also sign endorsement deals as well earlier than you would than if you chose college but you will earn less compared to if you were in the NBA. But because you're a professional now the stakes are higher. Wins and loses matter more people lose jobs if the team isn't doing well especially if they get relegated to a lower league. This is where the game would start if you are an non American international player.

                  Choosing an Agent

Right now I'm not a fan of the current goofy agents we've gotten. They hardly do much at all and you always get screwed over in deals.

We should be able to hire/fire an agent that comes with many different benefits. You don't have to be loyal to them and can fire them at any time. Signing with one agent might lead to better money but he has too many clients and hardly has any time for you. Signing with another agent might who might treat you like family but he isn't good at getting you good deals imagine represented by your Uncle Billy and he negotiates a deal for you play overseas while making commercials for some Japanese energy drink company.

The best agents should however take a higher cut than a lower quality agent. Also in the neighborhood you can see the differences visually. Some Agents will have a nicer office. One Agent has a nice office in a high rise building, another agent runs his office out of a laundromat or barber shop.

There needs to be a difference between the Rich Paul type agents and the current goofy agents we have in 2k right now.

                  NBA Draft & Combine

2k20 did a great job with including the NBA draft combine this year so I'd like to see them keep it. It'd also love to be able to skip it if my draft stock is already high enough and don't need to attend it.

But in addition to the combine if we feel that our Draft stock isn't as high we should be able to attend workouts and do interviews with other teams during this time.

                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wnGNTYZz-ao" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/eCsF5GIG-go" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

One thing to keep in mind is you DON'T have to attend every workout and you DON'T have to interview with every team. Maybe pull off a Kobe or Lonzo Ball and tell teams not to draft you and that won't be attending their workouts. You can even skip them altogether if you want for those who just want to get into the mode faster.

All of this can help raise our draft stock

In the draft let us go in the 1st or 2nd rounds or even go undrafted since 2k12 we've been a guaranteed 1st rounder which takes away a lot of the realism.

If we're a top 10 pick we should have high expectations and expected to contribute to a team right away. You get lots of sponsorship opportunities and lots of media exposure but you also have to perform at a high level. If your a late 1st rounder, a 2nd rounder, or go undrafted you wont have a lot of pressure but will have to work harder for endorsements.

Now the actual draft doesn't really feel like one we don't really get to walk across the stage and shake the commissioners hand. We also haven't had a draft since 2k17! Since 2k18 we've been forced to go undrafted. In 2k20 we do get a draft but I want to shake the commissioners hand. I know we can't really have commentary during the draft and I'm fine with it but can you show a short Pre draft show with Ernie, Kenny, and Shaq?

Then after we get picked have them do a breakdown and analysis with clips of your player, analysing his style of play, comparisons to current/past NBA players, and how he fits into the team that drafted him.

What I want to see is everything here from the start til the end of this video

                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/EsapYCAoAgM" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

MLB the Show does it where the announcers give their predictions and analysis about your player when you get drafted even if it is short.

I can understand why the randomness of the draft was removed a lot of guys just want to play on their favorite teams and play immediately. But I think they can do what MLB the show does by giving you an option to either go through the draft and let a random team take you or pick your team and still go through the draft experience only that you land on the team you want.

                  Summer League & Training Camp

Summer league, training camps, and the preseason to help build our overalls that can also be skipped/simmed through.

                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/LH_XIZELBXc" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

In the summer league if your a 1st rounder it's the first time you get to play and fans get to see you, if you're a 2nd rounder or undrafted playing in the summer league you're trying to show everyone that you can play and get an invite to training camp. We did get summer league in 2k20 but there were no consequences or rewards if you played well or like trash. Play well make the team maybe even make starter. Play bad get cut.

                  Training camp/Preseason

                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/pkkT_iCbBfw" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

                  Hard Knocks NBA edition

Congratulations! you survived the summer league and didn't get cut give us training camp and preseason to fight for a spot on the roster and minutes.
If you're a High pick or late 1st rounder your spot might be secure but if you're a 2nd rounder or undrafted you must try not to get cut or risk starting in the G-league.

                  G-league

Promotions/Demotions from the G-league throughout the season. If you play SF for the Clippers or PG for the Nets you won't be seeing much NBA action because you are playing backup for Kawhi or Kyrie since they are stars. The G-league would help being sent down to develop or if you're just horrible you will be sent down like in 2k10.

MLB the show does this well if you're a struggling rookie or playing behind a star and have a bench role you would split time between AAA and the MLB level during the season. If you go undrafted and can't land a spot on any NBA team and don't want to go overseas you would start the season in the G-league.

                  Coach Sitdowns

I would really like to sit down with the coach and discuss my minutes. Something similar to the GM sit downs in 2k13 but this time with the coach.
"Hey coach I've been playing well off the bench maybe I should get more playing time." or "I've been playing too much and it's harming the team I think you should give someone else a shot.

When you want someone else to get more minutes because you play well with them. "Yo coach you should give [Insert player name here] more time he really helps a lot late in games and can help us get a lot more W's you should really give him more minutes.

I should not be starting ahead of someone rated higher than me and if I go to a different team I should not be guaranteed the starting spot.

Minutes should be dynamic they should go up and down throughout the season. Right now once you become a starter in the game you're automatically a starter after that no matter what. What If I begin to play bad I should be back on the bench If I have a good couple of games I should be seeing more minutes being locked into minutes that don't change really takes a lot of the realism away.

What if I enjoy helping my team coming off the bench like Manu Ginobli or Lou Williams? Being able to ask for a bench role would be great.

I'd also like to change my position within reason. If I'm a PG let me be a SG if there's another player on the team that allows for it. Or if I'm a SF let me be a PG kinda like Ben Simmons. There should be no unrealistic position changes. They should take height and skills into account. If I'm a 5'9 PG I should under no circumstances be starting at Center if I ask it should immediately be shot down.

                  GM Sitdowns

Speaking of Sitdowns bring back GM sitdowns. At a lower Ovr they wouldn't take you seriously. We should be able to make serious moves when we're at like 90+ ovr or higher. The Front Office AI has historically been bad in 2k so being able to have some control of it again would be good. I'd also like to ask the GM to sign a current unsigned free agent during the season. Sometimes I want to be LeGM ******* it! lol.

                  Shoe Deals

We need contract length with shoe companies. Right now you are forced into a lifetime deal with a brand which is pretty unrealistic IMO. Sure players have signed lifetime deals but not an NBA rookie fresh into the league. It should take a while before we do reach a lifetime deal. Before Steph Curry signed to Under Armour he was signed to Nike. Before Kobe was with Nike he had a deal with Adidas. With players signing shoe deals in real life for X amount of years and X amount of money we should also be able to do that in 2k. If you sign with say Under Armour for 4 years and X amount of VC/year you will only be allowed to wear Under Amour shoes for those 4 years.

Yes you can wear a different shoe and lose an endorsement but with how Glitchy NBA 2k has been historically I'd rather not risk that.

We have contract negotiation now but I'd like to see them expand on that

Much like an NBA contract we tell the shoe brand how much money we want and how many years we want and they tell you how much they are willing to pay you and at what tier.

You may get a lot of money from a company but they won't give you a signature shoe. Or You might get less money from a company but they might give you free shoe deals and more VC from performance bonuses if you make the All star team or win the MVP award.

Also we should be able to sign with Anta, Li-Ning, and Reebok. They're in the game and we should be able to sign with them instead of being stuck with Under Armour, Nike, Jordan, Puma and Adidas. That could also be a good side story for MyCareer trying to be the face of a struggling brand like Reebok and bring them to back to the top.

Or an even crazier idea. Start your own shoe brand.

                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/obdtgWeWUBE" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Since you are starting your own company. You'll be responsible for creating the shoe and marketing it as well as growing the brand itself. You'll design the commercials (obviously not very in depth just 3-4 already created commercials and you pick one). You can however have full control on how you design the billboards and posters.

You'll also hire a couple of people to help handle the business side of things maybe a MYGM type screen with a list of available candidates.

Rome wasn't built in a day so don't expect to earn a lot of VC just because you're your own boss or see your shoe brand to grow as big as Nike overnight. There should be a lot of moments of struggling and where you think you should have taken the shoe deal instead. I'd even say have the shoes blow out but that would be taking it a bit too far. The success of the brand would depend on your players popularity and how well you market the brand. Starting off your own brand you'd earn less VC than if you had a shoe deal with a company like Nike, Jordan, Adidas, Under Armour, but as you grow you'll earn more I'd say maybe max would be like 5-6k VC per check maybe 7k if you're really good at it.

You'd also be able to sign other players to the brand but since that brings another issue of real world contracts and ruining the image of the brand or whatever. I'd say just limit that to CPU generated Rookies and whoever is the 2k Created story character teammate like Shammy Wells or Justice Young. You could attempt to convince established NBA stars in text messages to sign with your brand but they'd just laugh you off and never say yes.

                  The Story...

Since 2k14 we've had a storyline in MyCareer ever since a story element was introduced I haven't been much of a fan of it. I like to create multiple players and with a storyline everybody's pretty much gonna end up having the same story which takes out a lot of the replay value from the game. With it also being scripted it takes a lot of control away from the player. Instead I'd like to see different storylines.

For a mode that claims to be an RPG it's disappointing that there are very few choices aside from what to upgrade and MyPark clothing. Like if you want to be considered an RPG you gotta go all the way man.

Add more dialogue options right now we're stuck with only 2 options. We need variety

A good start would be different backgrounds for our player think about how Mass effect allowed you to choose Commander Shepard's background from Spacer, Earthborn, and Colonist. Then even further with Sole survivor, War hero, and Ruthless. That can work with NBA 2k.

The kid from the inner city trying to make the NBA and has to work hard for it.

The guy from the suburbs who tries to prove that he belongs where everyone thinks he was handed everything from the start but actually busts his *** off like everybody else.

The son of a fictional former player trying to live up to his fathers legacy and maybe pass him.

The international guy who played ball in another country trying to make it in America. Not only is he adapting to the NBA but he's also adapting to living in an unfamiliar country.

Then add in certain things like Mass Effect's psychological profile call it your basketball resume things like Young prodigy, High School All American, AAU Standout, Mr Basketball USA, Won High School state title with legendary buzzer beater, bench warmer, two sport athlete, for the international players add in stuff like went pro at 15 years old, member of national team, etc I can go on and on that also further establishes our players history and personality. It would really make each player unique and different from each other.

As the game goes on different things should happen what if after playing on the same team for a couple of seasons and tired of losing you sign with a different team.

Expect a lot of boos when you return.

A Rivalry with a player that goes way back and you have a history with him? Sure we saw a rivalry playout in 2k14 with Jackson Ellis but it was pretty weak. I want a Magic/Bird like rivalry that's always intense.
                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2KU_gtR2BOA" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

What if we're one of the most explosive players in the league and we get injured?
                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/kP6xFR07GJQ" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

After playing for 20 years we're trying to chase one final ring before it's all said and done?
                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/fbOQFCxiKJ4" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Switch teams constantly and show no loyalty fans and commentators will consider you a mercenary that is only chasing after rings.

Play rough and violent and other players will hate you.
                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/kjeAMfW3RS0" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I expect to get booed out of the arena when I go play my former team if we had a bad exit,if we're playing against one of our biggest rivals, or if we're considered the Villain of the NBA.

                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-HocXRPA3SE" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

We need more organic "drama" Say we're on a team like the Nuggets and we've really come into our own and want the keys handed to us but either Jokic or Murray say no. Either we make it work out or our egos get too big and one of us ends up getting shipped out to another team.

You're in your final year of your contract and have been on the same team for the duration of your whole career. Problem is the team hasn't been good, the front office has made bad signings, and you want a ring. That would create drama with the press making stories about you going to another team, and drama in the locker room like what happened with Draymond Green and KD last season.

                  Free Agency

                  Free Agency needs some work

Include the salary cap if I ask for more money and the team goes over the cap they might not be able to sign other expensive Free agents.

I'd like to have a better negotiation process similar to what we have in MyGm. I don't like that you can only submit an offer or two. Let me tell my agent what teams I want to meet with and schedule meetings with them in addition to other teams that might want to sign you.

There should be a calendar and let it be a back and forth between you and the team sometimes in some extreme cases you could even hold out signing with a team until the start of the NBA season if you don't like their offer like what Jr Smith and Tristan Thompson did with the Cavaliers.

Let me ask for a no trade clause and let me tell them how many years I want and at what price. Let me ask for a player option. Whether or not you get that depends on the agent you have the better he is you have a higher chance that you end with something you like it's a negotiation let us negotiate!

They should try to wine and dine you to convince you to sign with them give us a preview of what the team offers and the projected roster if you join them and how you fit in kind of what 2k14 did with the pre draft interviews and when you got traded.

                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/OVb5j6ubHXs" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I'm disappointed that they got rid of the view roster option in Free Agency.

Contract buyouts should be included if we're a veteran on a losing team and want to go to a contender.

Contract extensions should return like in 2k13 if you like the team you're on and the situation you have let me have sign a contract extension to stay with the team.

                  Misc Stuff

Return the rumor mill please and NBA.com right now we got that social media on the phone and it's very hard to keep track of things. Maybe make a combo of both?

Small minor thing but with the nicknames I'd like to be able to choose my initials like AI or KD, CP3 etc.

Like if my players name is Carl Johnson I'd like to be able to hear the announcers call my player CJ

Market size should impact our players

The location of a team impacting your popularity. If I choose to play in a bigger market like New York or LA I will have higher expectations and more pressure to help the team make the playoffs every year. If I choose to play in a smaller market like Utah I will have less pressure on me. Also I might become more popular and well known If I play in a bigger market than a smaller one. Playing in a big market the fans will cheer for you but will also boo you in an instant if you fail to live up to their expectations, in a smaller market they might appreciate you more.

Though now with social media being more involved these days and things being more viral no matter the location it doesn't matter as much but if you play well in a bigger market you do get more popular a bit more faster. Westbrook and KD became stars when they were playing in OKC so market size doesn't matter as much these days.

The All star game in Mycareer needs some improvement they could start by removing the teammate grade for the ASG and the Rising stars challenge game it sucks when we get penalized for any bad play when none of the players take it seriously.

An All Star game MVP presentation would also really give more life to the game. More press and Media interaction would be welcome as well. The biggest stars of the NBA are all together for one night give us all of the lights and cameras.

These are all terrible lmao 🤣

No, the right way to go is:
                      A. SPLIT MYCAREER OFFLINE AND ONLINE - the build creator was a wonderful introduction to the stale system from old, so let us build whatever we want for offline and put the restrictions only on online because really what's the point of restrictions on offline.

                      B. Just go simple with it, no need for all of these awful characters and storylines, ain't nobody cares about it, just give us simple, basic, basketball feuds.
Have a rival from the same city as you, make us go through a tough injury in year 2 and give us choices like going back early which would be risky but let's you play more potentially and therefore earn more vc to improve, maybe we go first overall and have to deal with the pressure of it. You can have like a big dramatic event without being cringe, too, just make it grounded and not a netflix teen show.

                      C. For the love of God, let Jackson Ellis' character rest in peace, you ruined him in every way.

                      D. I don't know, focus on improving the gameplay I guess
