I solved my difficulty problem, really made the game challenging. For User, I use the CPU's Rookie sliders and for the CPU, I use HoF. It's not realistic by any means, but a lot harder and competitive.

My bad Rob. Haha.
I had Korver isolated at the top of the key with Monta in 2k17 and he completely stone walled me...I wanted to show how much better those situations played out last year...Its better post patch but not quite there...I honestly feel that its one of the last things holding the game back....
I meant to follow up with that video to show how it looked in comparison but I didnt get around to it. Korver was actually playing me tight in this situation which makes it worse.
I think you missed the context of the conversation. The video is from 2k16. I would love if it played out like that in 2k17. He was definitely giving me a lot of room, so even as a weaker 1 on 1 defender he should be in a position to ride my hip going to the basket, but not completely stop my progress or knock me backwards.
Defense on the perimeter should never be about the defense initiating contact to play good defense. They already have the animations. It must be something in the engine that prevents them from distributing them to the correct players and keeping them away from the wrong.Psn: Alabamarob

The amount of traveling by the CPU in this game is just straight ridiculous. No shot is really earned in this game buy the CPU. Nothing but CPU cheese play after play and the patches don't seem to help one bit.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Patch 1.06 Available Now For PS4 & Xbox One, Patch Notes Included
I used to be a sliders advocate. However, after watching how patches in one area can alter other areas I now grade the game by that level's default sliders. The on ball defense is way to good. They should call the stonewall animations charges or blocks. Have different ride animations for different ratings. Giving slower and lower rated guys different animations then fazter and higher rated guys.
Defense on the perimeter should never be about the defense initiating contact to play good defense. They already have the animations. It must be something in the engine that prevents them from distributing them to the correct players and keeping them away from the wrong.
The stonewall bumping has to go. It should only activate the ball handler goes straight at the defender's chest. And most of those times should be a charge especially if turboing.
Featuring more hop riding animations would opene up a lot of the game. These need to be a priority in 2K18.Comment

That Korver clip reinforces where I'm at right now. The one major issue I have to solve vs the CPU is that instantaneous reaction of CPU defenders to User left stick movements.
It seems like every player has this preternatural anticipatory lateral quickness animation that lets them beat their offensive player to the spot the overwhelming majority of the time regardless of the ratings of either player.
I think the riding animations would activate more if the User could get his shoulder past the defender in a more realistic fashion.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: NBA 2K17 Patch 1.06 Available Now For PS4 & Xbox One, Patch Notes Included
I still hate how the CPU is able to mirror my movements completely on D.
Playing in Play Now and Online, this doesn't happen (good job) as I'm able to get* by the CPU on occasion in the correct situations.
However, in MyCareer and Player Locked MyLeague, for some reason, it happens. Play a casual Blacktop game against a CPU. It happens as well. Don't tell me to call ball screens or moving the ball around. I do that every other play. But when I get the ideal switch, I will try to and expect to be able to exploit it.
Another thing is the recovery speed of the CPU during "run down the court in a fast break defense" or "run down to pick up a loose ball" or "I got my ankles broken, I'll sometimes get up ASAP" moments. CPU is too cheese sometimes and it stinks. These happen in Play Now as well and that's the annoying part.
These observations were made on SS and HOF. On AS and down, there seems to be solid leeway in terms of these 1v1 interactions. However, the shooting sliders for AS and down are too easy in MyCareer.
Somehow, 2K needs to figure out how to improve the CPU and force us (human players) into taking bad mid-range j's without ridiculous lateral movement on their CPU which make it feel inhumane.
Not hating on 2K too much. They are gradually improving and I like that. Just sometimes, 2K needs some constructive criticism from everyone in the community seeing as they constantly need somebody holding them hostage to get them to do anything at all.Last edited by fakeassc; 11-25-2016, 10:38 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Patch 1.06 Available Now For PS4 & Xbox One, Patch Notes Included
I have hope because hey, we saw this patched in last year.
At 2K16's launch (and I promise I will stop bringing up 2K16 lol) The CPU was doing the same things as far a unrealistic anticipation.
I loved how post patch 9\10 times you could make the AI pay for the way they planted their foot. Then dribbling\penetration became a fun game within a game.
Really, really hope we can get back there.Comment

Having to lower the CPU defensive/ body contact sliders all the way down to make the game playable is dumb to me..defeats the purpose.
2K needs to actually make a fair game out the box.Comment

This game is great. The developers did an awesome job creating this basketball simulation you whiney punks. Go play nba live if you don't like the game.
I am a varsity basketball coach and this is very close to real basketball for a video game.Comment

The DoubleTeam Logic is still the most dumbest thing I have ever seen in a basketball videogame. They have been tunning this logic for over a month supposedly and it's still some of the worse, if you base it off of ACE personnel logic.
I'm seeing double teams from low post to high post abandoning the player for open uncontested shot after shot, the problem is they are leaving NeNe to doubleteam Dekker for 9 straight possesions. I have him perfectly Defense on the post with Nance Jr. and Black just say did you just say "help" homie? I got you.
OGFilmRoom needs to add to NBA 2k17 as to why such and such team or player isn't successful.Comment

This is still the least difficult 2K I've played offline wise.
Hate to even play MyCareer; A mode I usually have a lot of fun with and can play about 3-4 full 82 12 min seasons. Now it's looking, I'll be lucky to complete 2 seasons unless I start simming. I am steady blowing teams out by 20 or even 40 points by like the 3rd quarter a lot of times. No matter the team. So it makes the game so boring I be about falling asleep during the games. Sometimes I have to question did I accidentally put the difficultly on rookie some games. Games against the CPU was a lot more fun for me in 2K15 and 16.
Game is just too easy. Playing online is almost a must to have some type of competitiveness.

Im just really surprised the hip riding animations havent played a bigger focus in 17.

I'd also really like to see the cpu ai jump at head fakes anywhere but the paint. This would be a massive improvement. In the paint they literally jump on 95% of all head fakes, and it's actually too easy to draw a foul or get a clean look. On the perimeter, in any situation, unless you are actually legit shooting they are the most disciplined defender to ever put on shoes. I'm not asking for guys looking like they are on pogo sticks, but I've only seen maybe 3 bites in all of my hours played. Should see 3 in a quarter if the clock is low or if a shot is already wet.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Patch 1.06 Available Now For PS4 & Xbox One, Patch Notes Included
I made a few changes to CPU sliders and it eliminates a majority of the uneccesary bumping/warping from CPU defenders in dribble drive situations. We should not have to make such drastic changes, but atleast we have the optiom with sliders..
Here are my changes..
Game Speed: 50
Defensive Assist- 30
Body-Up Sensitivity- User 20 / CPU 0
Driving Contact Frequency- User 30 / CPU 0
Acceleration- User 55/ CPU 47
Speed- User 50 / CPU 49
Man Defense- 44
Lateral Quickness- User 55 / CPU 2
Some of these seem drastic. But believe it or not, the CPU still plays solid defense, but the bumping and unrealistic movements are signifciantly reduced.
The remainder of the sliders I have set to the Simworld Beta sliders. I am also using the Simworld beta roster. Not sure how big of a difference that makes from default...Comment
