So everyone can stop using that as a precursor to bash anyone criticizing player appearance or any other aesthetic of the game (or at least what we are currently seeing).

Some people care about these details some people don't. YES WE GET IT. No one is acting like twitter internet gangster kids on here, no one needs to be policed by the "I don't care what they look like cause I remember what they looked like in Kobe Bryant NBA Courtside - types.

Yes we all agree gameplay first. That is what makes a video game good or crap. Duh. But A) the same dev team that do the "body scans" are not the same dev team that implements gameplay improvement. B) This is a TRAILER. It's showcasing the aesthetics. If members see things that are off that you think look fine, cool. It's not about being satisfied or not. It's about the desire to see technology pushed towards realism with each installment. Other wise why aren't we just all content with our old antenna tv with analog programming?
I dont think anyone was using that as a precursor to "bash." Its just an acknowledgment that many of us have some perspective when it comes to NBA games.

So when I see people describe a player model as "horrible", I remember other NBA games that had actual "horrible" models and recognize that the statement is just hyperbole.

I see people go over the top with their descriptions and it makes me tune them out because while they may be unhappy with D. Howard's hair or George's body....those models arent "horrible" or some kind of "insult" (actual quotes from this thread).

The Knicks 3 point line should also be blue. That should've been picked up on by 2k, and I've never seen anyone post it. Now I understand how others complain about small things like ankles etc. it's small details that matter sometimes

with that said, again, this doesnt bother me one way or the other. but perspective from all sides have to be taken into account. the overall consensus is that the player builds are off. and likeness truly matters to a **** ton of people as it aids their gaming experience.
In this thread. I would never take one thread or even OS as an example of the "overall consensus" when it comes to anything about a game.

lol but its not really hyperbole. it's all relative. your measuring stick is how far we've come. their measuring stick is where we exist, technologically, in the present. i mean, Jordan(in the initial screenshots) looked horrible. so much so that it was written about in regular news publications.

I guarantee 99% of people who play the game think Paul George looks fine.

                incredible..
Look man I understand where you're coming from on this but this is exactly what we don't need at OS. Throwing out personal attacks because people have different things that really bother them.

When it all comes down to it, this is the main problem the board is having. Those who don't care about something putting down those who do, visa versa and the general "your opinion is trash cause it ain't mine"

Realize I'm not standing up for the "The devs are lazy" "This game is trash (with no explained, well thought out opinion)" types

                  I agree they aren't horrible.
I thought Durant was fine last year, but i took in his shoulders a bit because they were editable.

I also don't mind this years Durant... that's never really been an issue with me.

However I do think a guy like Dwight could be better.. not only because of reference pictures, but nba live did it (even if the gameplay was average), and so did 2k14 last gen.

The hair has been wrong for 2 years... his model is weird looking when i see the real dwight and nba live's IMO, and that doesn't make me spoiled, whiny, a crier or anything like that.

It also depends on what you are looking at. Jordan in those screenshots was unfinished and didnt have his correct facial features.

A haircut or a body that is slightly off isnt something that I consider "horrible" but to each his own.

Fair point as I did describe Chris Bosh's model as horrendous. Poor choice of words, but I find him the most glaring example of the resulting issue of players being assigned to just a handful of body types. I don't feel that looks like Chris Bosh at all.

I wouldnt use those terms to describe your feelings or you. You have every right to describe it as off or say it could be improved.

Like I said, my issue is with the over the top statements.

i think we both can agree here, in general, as my gaming experience doesn't hinge upon likeness. but i literally know a guy that has not bought nba2k since 15 bc they continuously screw up larry bird(in his eyes) as well as other legends. the likeness struggle is real, for many.

I agree with you about the excess. It brings some perspective.

Hate to say the dog days of August and the super slow release of anything at all has contributed to this.

Really disappointed to see that around the 0:45 mark Durant is knocked off balance by winslow and thrown into an animation similar to the one in 2k16 when you would get hit while trying to do a spin layup and rendered immovable for a good second. Was really hoping this would be removed from the game but 2k has continued their theme of prioritizing things like better bench celebrations and bench players wearing warmups rather than fixing gameplay issues. On a side note Westbrook looks so much better than previous games.

also the shot animation at around 1:20 with the bogut block. where the guy is basically under the rim and doesnt leave his feet to lay the ball up. basically a stand-still floater at the rim which was all to much done in 2k16. they didnt get rid of it.
