I just don't think I'm good enough on defense to play with the pass error slider that low, haha.

Re: FIFA 15 Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (PS4, XB1)

So finally jumped into online play for the first time ever with FIFA. I only played 13 and 14 on PC and against CPU usually professional difficulty at the highest. My friend who introduced me to soccer is an Arsenal fan so I kinda am too and that's the team I feel most comfortable using. I recognize the players, their strengths and weaknesses, and how to use them. So that's who I decide to run with online instead of trying to just find the best players/team. Not that Arsenal is some slouch on the ratings. But having a slowww CB like Metersecker takes some getting use to compared to some elite CBs on other teams most use. I was very afraid that I'd be too under powered to compete with the stacked teams. Thankfully the game is very competitive online and play style matters not ratings.

Started at 0-2 with a friend over and him playing the 2nd game. After he left I was able to really focus and used all the new instructions to mold my team to how I want them to play. A huge difference. I am able to defender much better and can use all the quick tactics with comfort depending on the situation. Changing your attacking/defensive effort makes a big big difference on how many players come up to help you attack in regular situations. My biggest problem was the counter attack on turnovers which I can live with. I was able to contain and attack just the same way as I would against the CPU and with the extra human error it works even better at times.

I win 5 in a row, only 1 or 2 had winning records but to face Real Madrid over and over again and still come out on top felt SO good haha. They are definitely tough to handle with all that talent and speed around but I was able to play ball control and use stick skills more than player ratings which is something I can't always say for Madden's less organic gameplay. I feel like everything is earned outside of a few AI errors but its a videogame so I'll be okay.

Love this game and I don't see myself playing Madden anymore outside of those times I just get the itch.

Iīm sure you havenīt seen enough matches in legacy. I play in legacy all the time and CPU still plays ping pong in my box. Iīm pretty sure the game explores the way we play, he will do what we let him to. If youīre too good with legacy, CPU knows it while playing and its forced to play another way. Iīm not that good covering spaces and passing lanes so CPU constantly uses it against me.

Try playing as Swansea against Chelsea. You won't have that problem :-)

Re: FIFA 15 Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (PS4, XB1)

I already posted this on EVoweb forums, but here is also apropriate, as I just started to get the grips on this game, and Iīm loving it more and more.

Ok so after talking about legacy vs tactical I gave it a go again today. Just played two games, one with lower teams and another with top Portugal teams, SL Benfica vs FC Porto.

While defending I just pressed X all the time and used the stick to position my defender between ball carrier and possible passing lanes, then when I had someone else close enough, I also used LT (maybe diferent for you guys, depending on controller settings) to try and tackle.

Now that result was absolutely amazing guys! No joking or placebo. Let me tell you that against FC Porto, I never ever had a situation of tiki taka in my box through the entire match! When I played balanced, I literaly had FC Porto in his own half, they couldnīt even get near my box most of the time. They also made mistakes Iīve never seen before in the game, like falling when trying to pull a trick or leaving the ball run out of the pitch etc. Iīm not great at attack so I couldnīt get enough chances to score but I had the match totally dominated. Second half I tried to push a litle more and used a attack mentality. After 75 mins FC porto caught me on counter, with a beatifull high through ball to Quaresma, who was forgotten completely alone. I couldnīt catch him, 0-1.

Match ended with a loss, with stas like:

passing: SLB 76% FCP (cpu) 77%
possession: SLB 51% FCP 49%

Playing with lower teams the result was pretty much the same, but just enjoyed this one more because until now, FC Porto or any other better team would always, always end up the match with almost 90% pass acuracy, not to mention the times they play tiki taka in my box.

This with sliders all on default.

Re: FIFA 15 Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (PS4, XB1)

Overall, I am very impressed by Fifa 15.

I play on World Class difficulty and it's refreshing to find I now how to work hard to keep a clean sheet. You really have to defend properly, which is to say not constantly pressing in your own third. If find that the things that matter in real life matter in Fifa now, more than ever.

To quantify that I would say two important things have changed. Firstly, tactics and personnel are as important defensively as in attack, which was not the case in prior iterations. So in the last game you have players using AMF players with next to no defense in CMF and even DMF. They also wanted the "attacking" full backs with pace. I've found on this one you can approach things differently and have different results. For example, Chelsea vs Arsenal. Chelsea, playing with full backs set to defend, a DMF like, Matic with Ramires also putting good defensive work in feels much more secure. I setup Arsenal realistically with Their fullbacks set to always overlap and Arteta as the deepest mid-filder. They feel more vunerable to counter-attacks and just generally more exposed. That's accurate. In the past I could have put Cazorla next to Arteta and simply been better by virtue of him being good going forward.

Also, I find it's harder to win the ball back. You cant just press. You need to keep in line. Especially with Centre-backs. Step up and the player will move into the space behind you. It's realistic. This also means you have to take more care with the ball when you have it. If you're, say, Arsenal and have 45% possession it's because you're trying too many low percentage passes.

I also find pace works better. You can't just hit it over the top as much. But pace on the wings, in transition can be deadly if not defended properly. That, is realistic. I like a lot of what EA have done with this one.

I do have some complaints though.

1. Free Kicks are way too easy to score.

2. Goalkeepers need a little work. Any powerful shot that flies into the top corner they just stand and watch. It's very rare for the keeper not to go for the ball. Only exceptionally powerful shots. Also, they have to many shots "go through them". Many goals do come with shots very close to the keeper. But many just don;t look right. It needs tweaking.

3. The net does not lift off the ground on every goal!! haha. No big deal but feels like a gimmick.

4. I don't want to be an international manger. People do not manage both club and country these days (with rare exceptions). STOP IT!. Again, no big deal but I've played half a season and why do Peru want me anyway?

5. Clearances cause too many dangerous counter-attacks.

Overall though, for an early iteration on this gen I'm very impressed. None of my criticisms make me want to turn off the game. And many of the changes improve things significantly.

Yes, this is a bit frustrating, lol. Even on low or dropping shots the net will lift up considerably. Very unrealistic.

I agree with your #s 2, 4, & 5.

I disagree with what you said about holding midfielders though - tactical discipline remains poor in FIFA so you're still stuck with holding midfielders that regularly bomb forward into the attacking third, just like past FIFAs, leaving HUGE holes for easy counter-attacks. I even use the individual instructions to tell my holding CMs to stay back and yet they still bomb forward too often. Drives me nuts.
