Madden NFL 15 Review (PS4/XB1)

Good review man. Pretty much sums up my feelings about the game. The on the field game play is solid but, unless your in a 32 man online CFM the sim stats and progression stuff could really mess up enjoying single player CFM. Surely they will patch it.

Great review, one of the best I have seen on here ever.

I haven't posted in the impression thread because last year I thought M25 was awesome the first two weeks then a month later I traded it in as the flaws showed up.

Not making that mistake again.

Based on the limited time I had with EA access, I agree with a lot said in this review.

It's fun, for sure, but...

So far, this definitely is not the leap I expected. I worry that leap will never come and it will always be "same game with some band-aids" each year.

I am hoping after playing in a user CFM my opinion changes. CPU in-game, all aspects of in-game, just really really needs to be overhauled. How the CPU reacts, calls plays, runs with the ball, just isn't where I think it should be honestly.

Hopefully, are getting a retail ps4 copy and diving in deep, I find more positives. Also, I am sure our slider guys will find a way to make the CPU play good ball.

Hmm guess I'll wait till a patch comes out for simulated stats because I will exclusively play CFM. Solid review, def want to play this at some point.

Foot-planting only occurs when they are triggered by a juke or cut move. Normal movement and running players tend to slide rather than every step being planted in the ground. Watch FIFA videos to see the difference in running.
@2:45 watch the line backers glide across the middle of the field. Also watch how the Qb turns around like he's standing on a merry-go-round.

this is true. I personally prefer the sliding in this instance as the foot plant animations have always been too slow - no one in the NFL changes direction that slowly - if they did, they would not be in the NFL

I'm liking that the main complaint so far is sim stats. They will patch this guaranteed, but I'm really not looking forward to the play calling system as is. Seems tedious. Either way, I have faith that on launch day a fix for the stats will be available, if not by end of week.

I'm more worried about franchise QB leaving after 2 or 3 years. I don't even care if they're rated low.

I recognize the reason they're gone is they're rated low. But I thought they'd assign certain roles under the hood "franchise qb" etc

First, I don't mean any disrespect. You're right, it doesn't have to matter to him. But he were to come saying to me that show was a good show, then he'd be wrong. For example, I bought the first Amazing Spider-Man game. I bought it because I like comics, that's a taste of mine. Yeah, i enjoyed. But i could never say it was great or even good, I'd say it was decent at best. Even though I enjoyed it overall, I still saw all the flaws that were mentioned in reviews and how exactly the game held up to other games in general, and in its genre, like a Batman: Arkham game. That's accepting ignorance if you blindly say something is good/bad because you like/don't like it.

Not really. You liking something doesn't determine whether something is good or not. Quality is quality and mediocrity is mediocrity. There are always standards to be met. For example, you can like Alien: Colonial Marines, but if you're convinced that's a good game, you're flat out wrong. Liking and disliking comes down to tastes, and does not dictate quality. Same way you may not like The Last of Us, but for you to say it's a bad game is also flat out wrong. There are standards in the industry, in any entertainment industry, and as consumers we trust critics to uphold these standards in evaluating games/products.

There's always one.

Hate the "no stats on free agency screen" part. Hated it last year. Like you said, ratings are fine and all, but I want to see what the actual production was.

This! I much rather see stats from the previous year as well as his entire career. I like to play the game with a somewhat realistic feel. I would be more likely to sign the RB who had a 1000 yards last year and is rated a 73 than the one who had 300 yards and is rated an 83.
