Re: GRID Autosport Available Today - Read the Reviews From Around the Web
Good info because I am really struggling with this one. I have done over 90 races and still cannot be competitive on easy. I have played many racing titles from nascar to forza to gran turisimo to f1 to dirt. None have treated me like this game. I want to enjoy it but, when I go into the turns it is like driving on ice.Currently playing: (In order of Most Time)
CFB 25 Dynasties Mississippi St, Minnesota, UNC, Missouri, Pitt
Forza Motorsport

TCrouch that is an awesome post.
I am nowhere near on his level but my tip for beginners is to hotlap the track you're going to run until you know how to take each turn almost in your sleep. I don't use those line assists in racing games because it felt like i was just watching a dotted line instead of learning the tracks.
Codemasters patched in hotlaps recently, just get the feel of the tracks with your car of choice and go get 'em.Comment

I'm getting this today for the PC. Going to hook up my DS4 and see how good it is with it. Hopefully I can enjoy that because my desk isn't set well for my wheel. I might have to bribe the wife to get one of those racing seat/wheel holder/monitor holder thingsComment

Re: GRID Autosport Available Today - Read the Reviews From Around the Web
Picked it up Monday for PS3 and after about 6-8 hours I am completely underwhelmed.
Pros:
1.) AI behavior is lively and human-like (races with "passion" and makes errors).
2.) Tons of options for setting up any kind of race you want!
3.) Improved handling over Grid 2.
4.) Good variety of cars and tracks...no complaints there!
5.) Nice sounds.
5.) Car damage is great as well as the damage updates.
6.) Little touches like giving CPU AI identities and Stat Tracking.
7.) Brings back alot of features from Grid 1 (like the sponsorship goals)
Cons:
1.) This would have been a good release in 2010 or 2011, but game feels behind the times.
It Brings nothing "new" to the table, only tries to capture the past glory of older games like Toca 3 and Grid. Everything listed in the Pros section I got from the original Grid back in 2008.
2.) Graphics are just ok...saw these same graphics years ago.
3.) Graphical glitches and huge screen tears during rewind and crash moments.
4.) AI can be too aggressive at times, even on Easy difficulty.
5.) Going through the tiers already feels like a grind at Level 2. Even though you can move back and forth between disciplines it still feels really linear. Just a linear grind.
6.) Really slow/sluggish loading times when viewing cars before a race...really Codemasters? In 2014?
7.) Locking out customization from offline and making it online only.
8.) Super ugly cockpit views.Unofficial OS Ambassador of "CPU vs. CPU"

Re: GRID Autosport Available Today - Read the Reviews From Around the Web
A few more thoughts.
Good:
- Handling model is really good for high end cars compared to Grid 2
- The Racenet weekly challenges are alot of fun and a great way to earn cash
- Finally found a place where I can view all the cars available basically in one place (it's online)
- Game has a fun factor that makes me want to keep playing despite my many gripes.
- Finally got online and ran a few races...smooth
- AI makes mistakes
- Swapping paint feels good without being too overbearing on the damage system
- In a series, I like how the grid gets rearranged based on the last race
Bad:
- It's confusing online how to upgrade the cars as well as how to level up a specific car vs. just leveling up in specific disciplines.
-Offline there are car upgrades available in Custom Cup but no explanation of how you earn(ed) them.
-Again, graphically the game is only passable, but I feel like the way they handled the cockpit views by blurring the dash was downright lazy. It's like someone said, "So you want a cockpit view, huh. We'll fix ya."
-If you don't have online, you truly only have 1/2 of the game.
-Teammate in career mode seems to be just useless.
-Appreciate the commentary but it's super repetitive.
-In one race I placed 1st but didn't get credit for meeting the objective to beat the "Monster Energy" drivers in the race. What am I missing?
-No static broadcast replay cam (best way to watch replays) or way to save replay.
-No way to add custom music and no jukebox.
Ugly:
- So I'm doing a Time Attack trial and an AI car comes up and rams me from behind? Can I please do my Time Attack in peace? Does the AI have to be there with me?
- Sorry, but the time it takes car avatars to load has become more than a nuisance.
- So the code for the Mercedes that comes with the Black Edition will open the Mercedes but you still have to buy it with in-game credits. And its not clear what cars get the Ravenwest livery.Unofficial OS Ambassador of "CPU vs. CPU"

This is now backwards compatible on Xbox One!
I quite liked this one on PS3, and I fired it up on my Xbox One S...looks pretty good, feels okay. Still pretty slippery.
Inkcil sums up the pros and cons pretty well. A nice alternative to the other major racing games, with good AI.Playing:
NBA 2K23 on PS5, Red Dead Redemption II, World of Outlaws, MLB The Show 22Comment
