Re: Madden NFL 15 Trailer - Tackling Mechanics
The WWE hits have to go. That double tackle by Cushing looked really good. The tackle at 00:23 is that same unbreakable animation that we see all the time. I thought when they first announced the "infinity engine" every tackle would be different? Yet we've been seeing these NFL Blitz tackles for years. I wonder how high up open field tackling cone was on the Madden Wishlists.Comment

Really impressed actually.
Defense does look fun. Tackle cone really doesn't bother me at all. I think I'll use it in gauntlet mode for practice and have it turned off for games.
Everyone's bashing the wwe shoulder tackle; im not a fan of it either, but if it's balanced to where its difficult to execute and is an inaccurate way of tackling (ie not considered a conservative tackle) then I'm fine with that.Comment

What Rex didn't mention that I learned through Clint on Twitter: is that the heat-seeker steering still applies to the right stick.
I am not all too caught up in this trailer because of the context is captured in the form of highlights and not flowing gameplay so I will pause judgment until I see gameplay from Youtubers who are using the truck stick and juke animations and judge how defenders respond to these actions.
I do see positives however in graphics which look noticeably improved and the gameplay does have a better flow to it.

Okay, I'm confused after this video. I've been waiting since Madden 12 for a game worth buying, especially now that I have disposable income.
In Madden 13, they added the ragdoll tackling and falling system.
In Madden 14.25 they added the fancy new running back control scheme.
In this trailer, I don't seen that either of those are present anymore. Am I missing something?
I also don't see how the cone will work with multiple defenders for gang tackling.Comment

Whether you are going to use it or not this is a great feature. It makes defense a little more fun. The SIM guys can turn it off if they think it's too arcadey. As long as they don't just squash it in a year or two and keep building, then it's a solid idea and feature. Animations looked pretty decent in that video. Saw a couple good looking ones.Comment

Trailer looks good, really liked the tackle where he wrapped up the ball carrier and rolled with him to the ground. Excited to get my hands on this gameLast edited by friscob; 07-14-2014, 08:15 PM.OS Red Zone

Re: Madden NFL 15 Trailer - Tackling Mechanics
Ive seen actual gameplay and I have to say, 90% of that did not look like actual gameplay. CG maybe? Also, the canned tackle animations we've been dealing with forever, the same animations weve seen in what little bit of gameplay that's been released was nearly MIA in that video. Forgive my scepticism, but it smells funny.
I'll reserve judgement for the new concept on execution. I think there might be some potential if its executed properly. Don't know how much longevity it may have though. Strikes me as the type of thing that will be gone come Madden 17."640k ought to be enough for anybody." - Bill Gates, 1981Comment

Maybe my eyes are bad and I missed something but I thought the tackle animations looked the same. I'll check the video out again to double check but I wasn't really feeling the tackles..Comment

Re: Madden NFL 15 Trailer - Tackling Mechanics
Much better than years past. Finally some progress is being made. I would be impressed but the fact that EA has taken this long to get proper tackling animations boggles my mind. This is a step in the right direction for the franchise and hopefully they will continue to improve.
