Can't say I'm surprised the game sucks. The last time I had any type of fun with an NBA Live game was like '07 and that's because it was fun spamming the arcadey Freestyle Superstars crap.
EA basketball is at an all-time low. Now they're TRYING to match 2K's realism approach but failing terribly.Comment

Spot on review. I played this game over the weekend with my son. And he said and I quote. "This is a BOOTLEG game. This game looks and plays like PS2". He also said that he liked the ESPN overlays and he also liked the net. But that was it.
He's 12. We were laughing so hard playing it. Good times.Member of OS since Dec 2002 BKA amaizinblueComment

Not good times when we could have spent 60 bucks on giving to a charity instead of this crapComment

Re: NBA Live 14 Review (PS4/XB1)
Great review. Absolutely 100% spot on and it must have taken some big balls to hammer a major company like EA with a 3.5. Full marks to you for saying it like it is. Post 'patch', none of the flaws have been fixed. Worse still, months of "feedback" has been basically ignored (time outs, subbing, cameras not working, low frame rates, generic players all through rewind games and on and on) I played a rewind challenge where you had to beat the spurs "without the big 3" and, 5 mins into the game they ALL were playing. WTF. This is amateur hour stuff. I played the Kings when Cousins was out and they had a 5 foot generic point guard at center. WTF.
I trusted the patch would fix these things and kept the game on that basis. Hell no. A lighting tweak and a half hearted practise mode where I can't even practise things like post moves or plays. Welcome to 2006.
Speaking of 2006, the producer then says "we gave you a patch and that's a first in the gaming world". WTF. Is this guy in a time warp or something? Every game release extensive patches nowadays. This game's develper is acting like it's a world first. Let me just check the year again, yeah it's 2014. This game and the team have got to be in 2006. Seriously. They are stuck in some time trap or something and are sitting there thinking "post game patch and a limited practise mode = revolutionary".
Well done to the reviewer for going hard. 3.5 is fair.Comment

Post patch this game is no longer a 3.5. Just FYI. I hated this game at launch. Now I play it every day

Re: NBA Live 14 Review (PS4/XB1)
You and about three other people like the game. The vast majority of gamers hate it, waited for a patch and then got let down. 99% of reviewers hate it. I kept it simply for the patch and to support the product. Yep, I got screwed over. Operation Sports gave it 3.5. I think they'd revisit that score if they legitimately felt it warranted higher. It doesn't. Some of the posters repitious praise on here and forced placebo effect style posting has been embarrersingly obvious. Angling for a job with EA's PR company is NOT justification for going dramatically overboard. Check out their twitter and it's the same one or two people as here basically begging for attention.Comment

Issues aside, I have fun with my ultimate team. I'm not ignoring the problems, I just said I still have fun with it. Least I don't crash every 30 minutes like do when I take 2k online. 2ks online is far worse than Live. But 2k has never had good online for years.Comment

Re: NBA Live 14 Review (PS4/XB1)
and youve been on here bashing the game left and right in multiple threads. how is that any different? im not saying youre not allowed to have your own opinion but dont try to say that those of us that are still able to enjoy the game are wrong. its called an opinion for a reason.
I am not calling people "wrong". I am saying that the absolute vast majority of people, including the reviewer on this very site, rate the game poorly. The vast majority see the massive flaws. That's not even opinion, it's fact. A few people saying "hey, I like it" when the vast majority don't = insignificant.
These devs need to realise the majority wants a true sim like, bug free, next gen basketball game.Comment

Re: NBA Live 14 Review (PS4/XB1)
I tried this last night for the first since Xmas. It's just horrible. I can't believe there's no shot feedback whatsoever. Every shot off the dribble is apparently off-balance and it's generally robotic with all of it's movements. It's such a shame the ESPN license is completely wasted here, the game is a mess.Comment
