And you thunk fleury is a better goalie then lundqvist?

I'd like to put him on a team with crosby/malkin/letang and see how he would do

And surley it must be a coincidence that you havent brought up the series agaisnt the flyers last year...

Bwiggy33 - Fleury has only been in 3 post seasons since winning the Cup. Not 4 or 5. On top of that you mention the elite players the Pens have and rightfully so. However since winning the cup the Pens have been plagued with many injuries during the post season. This post season seems to be the first since they won the cup in 08-09 where everyone is healthy(minus Crosby who seems to be about ready they just don't want to rush him since they are playing the Islanders).

Brestsky523 - I only think Fleury is the better playoff goalie of the two. I'm not disrespecting Lundqvist in any way. I think he is a great goalie. However not so in the post season.

I didn't say 4 or 5 postseasons. I said 4 and 5 (as in 2008 and 09) years ago is when he went to the cup, and that was the last time he's played well in the postseason. Fleury has been to the postseason 6 times, same as Lundqvist. Lundqvist by far has better numbers. IMO injuries are not an excuse for the Pens. They have had a much deeper team then the Rangers. Even if Crosby is hurt, Malkin is right there. If Malkin is hurt, Crosby is right there. Then you add in a guy like Jordan Staal who was behind those two before being traded. Oh may I add in Neal as well. I don't know if you fully realize how good your team is. You've had four guys (Crosby, Malkin, Staal, and Neal) on your team that would be the building block of many organizations in the league. May I also add that when there are injuries to a team, isn't that the time when a great playoff goalie is supposed to step up? I wouldn't say Fleury has passed the test. I really hope Pens fans cherish what they see on a night to night basis. The talent on that team is ridiculous.

Anyway to each his own. Nobody can really win an argument as they have their own opinions. This is the wrong forum to be posting in anyway, as it doesn't involve the actual video game.

NYwRiter94 - Give me a break. Fleury who has indeed been struggling lately is 11 games over .500 in the playoffs. While Lundqvist is 5 under .500. There is no comparison there. Fleruy is the better playoff goalie.
Yea , really looked good last game against the Icelanders. Umm. Great goalies don't get replaced 5 games into the series ;-(

The sad thing is Vokoun is showing how to play net for a great team. All he has to do is control his rebounds and make the saves he should. I know it's not easy at the NHL level, but for these goalies it should be. They got there for a reason. Crawford is doing a good job at that right now for the Hawks. He's made basically every save he should with exception of Clutterbucks goal in game 1 of the Wild series.

Anyway IMO Lundqvist still has a way to go this playoffs to prove to me how good he is. He won round 1 for them, but he has to carry his team for a full playoffs before he wins me over. He doesn't have to win a cup, but I want to see if he alone can carry his team to the cup finals. I like him as a goalie but I still want to see more from him before I consider him in the same class as the elites.

Who really has carried their team for a full playoffs? Quick carried his team during the regular season, but that offense came alive and watching them play in the playoffs looked like they were playing AHL teams. Tim Thomas will forever to me be overrated, as he would just flop around and his incredible defense would sweep away the juicy rebounds. Niemi just got hot in one season and had a decent statistical postseason, and I think we all know what the deal is with Fleury.

Has Henrik proven himself as an elite playoff goaltender? No. But it's very rare that a goaltender actually singlehandedly leads his team to the final.

Patrick Roy, Martin Brodeur, arguably Mike Richter, Dominic Hasek (98 Sabres), JS Giguere (03 Ducks), Johnathan Quick (he's about to again IMO), Cam Ward (06 Canes), John Vanbiesbrouk (95 Panthers), Dwayne Roloson (06 Oilers), Mikka Kiprusoff (04 Flames). There's even a couple guys who are on the border line. Honestly I don't think it's rare at all. I'd say just under the majority of the past 15-20 years, one team in the cup is there due to the goalie completely carrying his team. Guys like Roy and Brodeur did it multiple times, but obviously those two are on a different planet. In this day and age it's almost a must that you have a goalie who can steal a teams way to the cup.

Last year I fully believe Johnathan Quick did steal the Kings way to the cup. Yes they started scoring, but it was because they knew Quick was behind them. They were able to open up their offense. The Canucks series last year proved that. Quick faced multiple odd man rushes every game of that series. Odd man rushes happen because a team has opened up their offense and is taking chances.

Well the second round is almost over and Vokoun is still in net for the Pens. I love how the Pens defense has stepped it up in front of him. It should really tick off Fleury. And notice what happens in the games the defense failed Vokoun. They lost and Vokoun looked soft. Notice a pattern?
