Re: THQ Dissolved, WWE License heading to 2K

The last WWE game I bought was the first Smackdown vs Raw for the PS2, the one with McMahon on the cover. After that I out-grew wrestling.

But, hearing the news that Take Two acquired the WWE license, I think I might buy the next game. I love Take Two, NBA 2K series is insanely well made, best sports games I've ever played. So I can only imagine that the WWE games are going to be just as good.

Give it a couple years before 2K really make their own game and get the most out of it. But this is great news for WWE fans.

I think Yukes will stay on to help roll out the next two games, until 2K develop their own system.

I really hope 2K gives justice to the attitude era, the war between WCW and WWE and even ECW.

After what THQ did with MX vs ATV Alive I'm glad to see them go. Maybe now someone else can make a proper Motocross/Supercross game.

With Take Two getting it thats just a publisher, Visual Concepts makes the NBA2k game, just like Rockstar makes GTA. Either Yukes will come in under Take Two, or a new publisher will take over. THQ never had anything to do with the making of the WWE games, it was always Yukes.

Yukes made the engine, THQ did everything else.

Dead unless Take Two publishes it. It's a finished product as far as I know though.

Ea created the engine for def jam vendetta and fight for ny. the way they handle madden makes folks lose faith in all the other development teams i guess. i think 2k will make a decent game, but look at fight night and look at prizefighter. ea has the wrestling engine, ill even go as far as to say they will have excellent graphics. 2k would most likely have to build from the ground up. the appeal of instant success may sway the wwe if its not too late. im gonna get it either way most likely.

Aki (now known as syn Sophia, Inc.) did the Def Jam Vendetta and Fight for NY engines, not EA. And they are completely out of the wrestling/fighting game business since their name change.

They work well as a duo, would have liked to see them work together again.

The deal is done. And I'm sure WWE took that and many other things under consideration.

Now wrestling fans will know what it's like to have 2K character customization. All the options THQ gave you with the tattoos, hair, and clothes will no doubt become the pitiful "customization" that the NBA 2K has had for the past 5 years!

No joke, in the past 5 years, they have added one new hair style....

I'm glad to see someone else supporting the fantastic AKI engine. WWF No Mercy and Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 are still the best wrestling games of all-time in my opinion.

Servers will still suck most likely, but I'm ok with 2k for the most part, or at least their NBA game.
