Re: The New Be-A-GM Brain
Did they mention anything about draft booms and busts? I'd like to see some first round draft picks not live up to their potential and some late-round draft picks become NHL superstars.
Basically is potential guaranteed?Comment

Re: The New Be-A-GM Brain
One other thing, and again not to make too many comparisons between hockey and football, but in NFL Head Coach 09, player ratings were not universal from team to team, but based on a team's "system". Since I'm a BAP player, can someone tell me if, in NHL12, a player signs with another team or gets traded, do his ratings change? Do teams value different player abilities differently?
This should also be taken into account, since, for example, some teams might overvalue speed vs strength, or youth vs veterans.Comment

Re: The New Be-A-GM Brain
Guarantee on day 1, someone will find a trade that'd never happen in real life lol.
Leafs trade Connolly and Lombardi for a 2nd round draft pick lol!
But really seems like alot of changes went into NHL13, haven't seen this many changes going into NHL games in awhile. From improving gm brain stuff, to the gm connected mode, to really fixing up gameplay. Seems like they did alot more.Comment

Re: The New Be-A-GM Brain
About the potential...I was wondering about this too. I'd prefer the potential to be a fairly close indicator, but not set in stone. By what I was reading, I was getting at least the impression that the potential is the potential. Hope I'm misunderstanding things.
And yeah...gems/busts in the draft would be great.1969 NFL ChampionsComment

Re: The New Be-A-GM Brain
I hope not! Nothing worse than seeing a potential rating being set in stone. Potential should be a fluid rating, since after all, it's a subjective opinion. Solid statistical production should increase a potential rating, while poorer play should decrease it.

Agree completely about the potential.
And would be pleasantly surprised if the "Systems" added for NHL '13' did cause player ratings to vary from system to system. That would imo be a very cool detailed addition to the game.1969 NFL ChampionsComment

Re: The New Be-A-GM Brain
Did anyone else notice in the screenshot of the progression sim that all of the top players shown for 2021 (except for 2) are guys that are already in the league? So basically no one who was drafted in the simulation for the next 9 years is going to be a star, and Crosby and Ovechkin are still 1 and 2 in their mid thirties. How likely does that sound?Comment

Re: The New Be-A-GM Brain
I want to see guys losing skating & physical abilities as they age, but increasing their "senses" from their years of experience. Just like young players generally need to improve their awareness, defensive skills, and strength to break into the NHL.Comment

Re: The New Be-A-GM Brain
Yeah, highly dubious to draw conclusions from a single screen grab. Way too many variables involved. With that being said, I sure hope they gave regression as much love as progression.

like Gagnon said....boom or bust for some 1-2nd rounders and 5-7th rounders draft pick. there are some players who came mid or late round picks that are now playing in NHL level. Example in Canucks: Bieksa (5th round), Hansen (9th round) or White (1st rounder and bust)Comment

Re: The New Be-A-GM Brain
All of this sounds amazing and so far filling in all those holes that we have all asked can't wait to try it out.
With that said I was wondering if a formula has been worked out for actual physical growth. Example being the 16 yr old CHL players still at 5'10" and 165lbs. Has anyone heard anything about players being able to add height and weight after being drafted and aging?Comment
