Agreed. Would have loved Jacoby just for the Native American aspect. And obviously he is a pretty damn good ballplayer.

I really don't understand why people get so worked up about the guy on the cover.

I can also tell you that David Freese isn't on the cover not only because he is totally unrecognizable to 90% of the target market (sadly), but because this isn't something that can be done after the playoffs. I'm not sure many of you appreciate the licensing aspects of the game. There are contracts and lawyers and money involved, and this stuff doesn't happen in a week.

Looks like I'll be making a custom cover. The only guy I have respect for on the Sox is Pedroia. That guy overacheives year in year out. I can't look at a Red Sox cover all year.

Nah...this is just the usual griping and debating about who is more deserving, etc. It was actually worse last year when Mauer got the cover for a second year (people claimed it was "proof" that the game would be the same) and would be WAY worse (or more entertaining, depending on your perspective ) if he had gotten it again this year.

It's already died down and, by the time actual game info starts trickling out, most people will be fine and either live with something they don't like or get a custom cover. It's never as serious as some make it out to be.
