Not bad for the first blog. If it works as explained this should definitely take the passing game to a whole new level. I'm looking forward to more new info.

It's nice that the first blog is taking a huge complaint from years past head on instead of tip-toeing around the elephant in the room and talking about new mouth gaurds or something.

But, like many people have said...I will believe it's fixed when I see it work properly in game.

Well hopefully this fix actually works, if so then the catching will have made big strides over previous versions. I also think they should add the ability to jump for the ball as a reciever, not that ridiculous rocket catching but just a normal jump for the ball.

Hopefully they have also added "route based passing" and better ball velocity to take care of the passing game.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Blog: Catch Tuning

It was a good read, I can't help but be excited. It was extremely frustrating to have my receiver catch a pass running back towards the line of scrimmage followed by a failed hit stick by the computer to knock me back another 5 yards.

Cheers to intelligence on the field.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Blog: Catch Tuning

Good stuff. Really drives me up the wall when the reciever catches the ball in an odd fashion that prevents him from running it to the house or keeping the ball in bounce when he had a lot of time to prepare for it. Also would be great if screen passes aren't so hit and miss on the ball carrier making the wrong first steps or catch the ball in stride right into defenders in the middle of the field. Stay where you are, catch the ball, cut up the feild thank you.

These adjustments to the catching game will make a lot of difference to the passing game in general. Great receivers, especially the high hoppers should be able to stand out a lot more and gamers can be more aggressive at heaving the ball up for the receivers to make a play. Just as long as the defense is smart enough to make plays on the ball when they able to and catch the easy picks more often.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Blog: Catch Tuning

I like the new Boldin screen. Keep them coming lol. One thing I want to comment on though. I hope it is possible for curl routes that if the DB is playing well off, I'm hoping that you also have time to square up after you catch the pass. So if I have Boldin for instance, which I will and the DB is playing off coverage, I hit him on the curl, I should be able to square up and face the DB as he is making his way toward me, now the moves come into play. I might stiff arm him or maybe he tries to tackle me low. I think this is a great start, however, I want more after the catch.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Blog: Catch Tuning

It's a good blog with relevant gameplay info that has the potential to truly improve the game.

The CPU's lack of sideline awareness in M10 contributed to me stopping an offline franchise. So frustrating. It's hard to believe it's taken them this long to fix it, but let's be thankful they supposedly did.

Now how about a few M11 videos that showcase the improvements?
