I can agreee with this. I don't necessarily feel the "scripted" deal but I REALLY hope EA goes HARD with a TON of new animations, taking into account the different scenarios that happen on the court IRL.
I think studying and mimicking the game of NBA b-ball more closely, adding a buttload of new animations, and advancing the AI should be top and ONLY priorities with Live 11. NO NEW FEATURES, PERIOD!!! Focusing on new features takes away from completely fixing core gameplay but, unfortunately, it's about big business and drawing in new consumers, as well, with new features.
I also hope they can find a way to get at the legacy issues such as steal/rebound buttons being unresponsive at times, being forced out of bounds by the CPU without fouls being called (i can understand sometimes just going out of bounds on your own but not all the time), block animations not being contextual to the ball and players, and "under arm blocks" and such, among other things.
Otherwise, I still love this game and is my only b-ball game of choice, this year.
Just cuz you pour syrup on ish....

The big question is ... will this stop the guys that use a scoring PG to run around and launch off balance 3's that go in?

Scripted may not be the best term but Live 11 needs to improve on the CPU AI's awareness of the user defense. The CPU often does whatever the DNA dictates a player should do in a given situation regardless of how you are defending them. If Tim Duncan gets the ball on the block and you triple team him every time he will still shoot 68% of the time (or whatever the exact DNA figures are). If they add this element to Live 11 then the CPU's offense could be remarkable.

I wasnt calling the game scripted man come on

Im looking at the description of whats happening in the game

Its so limited everyone no matter who it is, does the same thing over and over

Artest has a post game just like a big man... limited animations = limited gameplay = very repetetive scenarios

ehh, i think they fixed that issue the cpu is somewhat aware, finally..

i dont know fellas i watched the sixer game last night and T. young drove the hoop lefty and hop step the same way 6-8 times, if live did that i would be happy but most would call it repetitive

its like iversons crossover we all knew it was coming left to right but the starter move was changing, the same should work for the post game,

guy catches the ball tries 2 pump fakes then back down
guy catches the ball jab step then back down
guy catches the ball looks to pass fakes a pass then backs down

and thats just 3 add more

this stuff is in the game but the game lacks basketball sense so it never tries these possibilities we dont need 20 canned animations that get repetitive, use basketball sense

So can fastbreaks be done by the CPU AI after this patch?

I've only played one half Warriors at Thunder but the game played pretty well...there were several situations where in the past the CPU would start driving to the hoop and I thought I would be sucked into an animation where we would collide in midair and the CPU would get the foul call...instead, the cpu stopped around 12 feet from the hoop and shot a pull-up jumper...another time I jumped to block his shot and the CPU ended up dishing it off for the dunk...in general there seems to be less "sucked-in" collision and I even had the FT advantage at the half (17-11)...

It is a bit more uptempo on outlet passes but I like it...it forces me to get back on D and stop the ball - just like real life...

One "bug" that I noticed is still there is after getting a defensive rebound and throwing an outlet my guy would be running way out of bounds for no reason at all which would cause a turnover...

Again only one half to go on but I am pleased so far...Live 11 needs to improve in a lot of areas already mentioned but this will keep me busy for now...

I can't speak for you guys, but for me, this is exactly what the game needed, and as far as I can tell after 5 games online, it's the best basketball experience you can have against another human competitively.

Sure, there may be little things here or there, but overall, all the automatic 3 pointer garbage is gone, the fadeaway crap doesn't work consistently anymore, and if your even a little decent playing defense, you'll get enjoyable games

Thanks fellas please keep the "game Impressions" coming....let's try to get away from what we think the game needs more or less of...that is how these threads get in to count less pages of opinions and what not...please focus just on gameplay and things pertaining to the patch.

(I'm just asking as a favor to me and the many people who have to go through countless pages of fluff to get details about the the title threads.) let's do our best to stay on track....(just my two cents...

oh and developers or Mods...it would be nice to know what was fixed so that we can look for specific things while we are playing the game to see if it has been improved or not....thanks

Its your own fault and if you want it to stop, quit playing randoms, because they screw the games up making fixes for that.

That said how are the contact animations affecting the gameplay?

                              Are teams running correct offenses?

Do players still do crap like big men doing step backs and the dreaded Raptor fadeaway

Does the CPU still score in cheap ways, still throw up hooks off rebounds over the back of their heads without looking very soft like?

Fouls are they evened up more?

I said anything really since the second patch because I pretty much gave up on Live. They still have a long long long way to go. But with that said, I just wanted to respond to what you said. I believe as though they need to cater to both. They advertise online feature and everything that comes with it so online players have every right to complain just as offline players do.

Shipping a game with double dribble 3pt shooting %'s is just unacceptable I don't care who you play nor if you play online or offline. It's just wrong in every way imaginable. Not all the time are people able to play people on their friends list at certain times during the day or night and they just might want to go online to get a quick match in. Moral of the story is, many of these cheese factors (not all) can be fixed, it's just up to the developers as to if they really want to fix them or not.

The 3pt shooting was not an issue in 09 so why was it an issue in 10.

So as online gamers we are just suppose to accept what the gaming companies give us even though it's not right or because we play random along with no online fatigue allow cheesers to do even more????????????????????????

Seems like everyone is just talking about what they want for LIVE 11. I agree with JLBrown, can the fellas who've got the patch just put impressions only about the patch.

Quick question : what size is the patch?

                                Generally...big = lots of new stuff...small = hardly anything.

So, is it a 250 mb beast like 2Ks patch...or a 10 MB "glitches only" type patch?

Very surprised EA hasn't released a list of what the patch fixes unless that tidbit from Blackflash was all there is?
