I feel the new patch has a lot of new things and just needs a bit more tweaking to restore it to it's former glory.

Wolfpack thinks it's a great improvement and much smoother.

Although they differ, I think both opinions have a point. Who knows, I may even come to agree with wolfpack as I get used to the new patch.

Negatives tend to get more of a voice than the positive stuff.

The only opinion that should matter is your own.

And my opinion is Live is still my game of choice this year, patch or no patch.
I feel like they turned the defense up to much, especially in the paint and on driving to the hoop. Fouls are increased, when drawing contact in the paint, but aren't increased when driving past your defender and getting sucked into a collision animation. Those are my primary gripes. In terms of 3 point shooting issues with guys like Jameer Nelson, this is the response I got from one of the producers when I wrote him about how unstoppable some of these guys are from 3, this is his reply:

"In terms of 3s, its really all based on Nelson's 3pt% (right now 48%). He is a high volume guy, so his shot success isn't decreased like it is for a small-time player."

This reply still doesn't make sense to me, at least not to the point where I can understand how anyone thinks it makes sense that a player like Nelson can routinely drop in 50% of contested three's he takes, when used and abused in an online ranked game. I've also heard of guys like Mo Williams and Jason Kapono being used to drop in 20 threes a game. Don't tell me "they are good 3 point shooters"...That may be true, but that doesn't mean they should have the ability to routinely shoot like this. I guess one could argue this could be fixed by adding fatigue. Then one couldn't use these players as regularly. That's my take.

It seems like after the patch, the game tries even harder to enforce realistic shooting percentages.

I played an online game against a guy that had no clue how to play defense. About 80% of my shots were lay-ups, most uncontested, and I still shot 46% on the game. It's sooo frustrating to consistently miss lay-ups and easy close-ups.

Anyone tested to see if it still has "sim out of the box" stats?

Currently running AI vs AI 12 minute quarters Cav @ Lakers.

ATM it's 57-63 to the Lakers halfway through the third.

Re: NBA Live 10 Patch Impressions (360 Patch Only, PS3 to Follow)

I have no problems with 12 qtr sim stats, but I've been playing 12 minute quarters since 2k4 so i'm used to it.

Like I said, my initial impressions were not concrete. The more I play the game post-patch, the more I really appreciate the improvements they made. The AI seems to run a more intelligent offense now. The flow at first seemed too fast, but the more I play the more it feels real. The computer will not play super fast if you get some stops and score on your end. It quiets them down as it should. The game on the whole feels much smoother. I think the layup solutions needs some tweaking to not get sucked into animations, but I don't think that's a patch issue. I dunno, I'm digging the improvements, but also have things that irk me. Still, best basketball game I've played, so I'm happy, and I appreciate the smoothness post-patch. Hope they drop a 2nd patch though and fix the sub menu and other quirks.

The context of the fouls is so whacked man....i just want to turn them off sometimes...lol. Being sucked into contact animations and fouls are my biggest pain points.....just about every thing else is a slider fix imo.....

Yeah, lots of good things about the patch but getting sucked into those contact animations is jarring. That's where is loses the fluidity it had pre-patch. Those, and the protect ball animations.

Still, it just needs tweaking, not a major overhaul.

QFT driving the lane can be a chore just because the CPU can pull you into a contact animation at any time. And if they don't some random help side defender will jump in the air and block your shot as you go into a layup anim.

I would be cool w/ it if it looked remotely realistic but sadly that's not the case. What makes thing even worse is the fact that I almost never get the foul either.

Then on the other end these same instances result in a foul on you. This game is just so backwards at times Lol.

The fouls/play in the paint/layup solutions stuff is very concerning to hear. I can already tell it will be the reason I will most likely not last more than 2-3 months with Live. Using teams like the Knicks where I bomb away from 3 all game and it matches the real-life strategy is all good, but using half court teams that thrive on getting into the lane and to the FT line, it will absolutely kill the game.

Hopefully NCAA '10 can improve on it too.

just had a game where I out shot the CPU from the free throw line. Basically I just try to jam that stick away from the contest, or if I see a guy I think I can challenge..try to finish at him.

Scoring in the post seems a bit more difficult..i had pretty much gotten it down pre-patch..now im just off...

I'm also having a bit of a time ujsing guys like AK-47, Al Thorton, Andries Biedrens.. dudes who get their points slashing to the rim. They are not finishing

YEah, the in the lane fouls are rediculous, and the computer has done some crazy turn around 3's from half court. THose are the main issues right now. I like how they fixed and added some animations. The game plays a whole lot better now!!!

Still seems to sim just fine.

                            Lakers

                            KB 35 pts 4, assists

                            Fisher 18 pts, 8 assists

                            Artest 13 pts

Bynum 5 blocks. (blocking does seem stronger post patch)

                            Cavs
Mo Wil 32 pts, 1 assist (Mo seems to score like this pre and post patch so can really complain about that)

LBJ 18 pts, 11 assists (LBJ went 9-31 and Mo was 13-23. So LBJ was still their focal point on offense he just had an off shooting night)

Shaq 6 pts, 12 rebs, 3 blocks (did his job)
