THQ Announces Extension of WWE Renewal Notice Deadline to December 31, 2009

AGOURA HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 28, 2009-- THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) today announced that it has been notified by World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (“WWE”) that the WWE has extended the renewal notice deadline for the videogame license held by the joint venture between THQ and JAKKS Pacific, Inc. to December 31, 2009. The renewal would extend the license through December 31, 2014.

THQ noted that WWE's action provides the company with increased flexibility with respect to the renewal of the videogame license.

i'd like to see someone else get a shot at a WWE game. The Smackdown video games have become like the real WWE where the actual wrestling is secondary to all the other little things. The actual wrestling in the game sucks.

Its sad when the best wrestling games still to date are WWF No Mercy, WWF Wrestlemania 2000, WCW vs nWo Revenge and WCW vs nWo World Tour. In those games, the wrestling was simply yet fun and the guys reacted more realistically then they do in the Smackdown games where if a guy is going to stand up and you kick him he just falls flat down with his back to the mat.

Until they work on getting the wrestling in the game better, instead of just adding create a whatever mode every year, then i wont be buying another wrestling game. And THQ/AKI were the ones that made those great n64 games, but ever since then the games have been going downhill.

Up until a couple years ago, I really wanted THQ to drop the license and let someone else have a shot. But the last two years have been pretty good. So far I'm really impressed with this year's game. At this point, if they'd just fix the screwy AI, I'd call it the best WWE game yet

THQ was the only company who did wrestling right for US games....I rather have them than Midway, EA or Acclaim(dont exist anymore right?)

THQ is on the up and up. Especially with UFC.

Wanted to see EA get a shot at making a WWE game. Granted the WCW games they made were nothing special. But with the UFC game by THQ gaining steam I think they would step it up a notch.

Acclaim does still exist just not in the same way. They only do mobile games and MMORPGs now.

Spike did it right but no one cares about Fire Pro in the US. Graphics thing I'm sure.

EA should get it then hire Spike to make it. Then it might look as good as it plays.

I dont see how when UFC suffers from the same things SvR suffers from...Both are pretty good looking games but gameplay is flawed...

I thought THQ was going bankrupt? Still waiting for a good price for the newest game.
