I was already loving this game before the patch, but was bothered by small details, such as the constanting stripping of the ball in the paint, lack of back down/post move button, and cpu AI. Post-patch, I am pleasantly surprised. I played as the Celtics last night and started a new dynasty against the Cavs. I was pleased to see that even though Lebron was in the lineup as the Small Forward, he did a majority of bringing the ball up the court, much as he does in real life. He ended up with 7 dimes and 9 boards along with his 26 pts. I had to constantly double team him when he got the ball in his hands within the half-court set b/c he either beat his man off the dribble, or hit clutch shots with little time on the clock. And there is a huge difference in finishing after contact with someone of Lebron's strength and say a frail guy like Brandon Jennings. I am enjoying this game even more after the patch with the realism and fluidity of the game. Is the game perfect? Hell-2-the-no, but it is very good. And the patch really has enhanced the playability and responsiveness of the game. As far as controls go, it feels like the game is so much more responsive in regards to stringing freestyle crossovers, spins, size-ups, etc without the cpu easily stealing the ball or forcing the turnover, as was the case prior to the patch."The meek may inherit the earth, but they won't get my crossover"Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Patch Impressions (360 Patch Only, PS3 to Follow)
Maybe Ive gotten so used to the pre patch pace of the game, because my first game post patch, I felt a step slow in my reactions, pretty much all game.
I'm getting more or less the exact same results at the end of the game, as I was getting before, but with better free throw balance, and going deeper into the bench, as I try to aoid commiting fouls...I cant contest as aggressivley as I could, post patch, and get away with it.
The #'s at the end of the game are coming out great, but the game itself seems more frantic to me.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Patch Impressions (360 Patch Only, PS3 to Follow)
It seems Jameer Nelson is still unstoppable from three. I just had a guy drop 45 points on me with Nelson shooting 11-21 from three, these were all contested 3's. Shot 17-35 field goals, overall. Please fix this, Nelson is not that good from three. While I'm on the subject, why is Derrick Fisher only rated a "73" for his 3 pt shooting ability?Comment

Wrong. 73 is his "outside shooting ability". 83 is his "likelihood to shoot from 3". Individual abilities are visible in the edit player section.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Patch Impressions (360 Patch Only, PS3 to Follow)
If I come across like a Jerk on these points, then so be it I guess, but I feel like most of this is simply frustration with losing, and people flat refusing to adapt.
Ive played about 20 games of dynasty mode, and probably another 20 or 30 play now games..and I dont get slaughtered on the boards routinely by the CPU.
There are things you can do with your coaching settings, you can rebound manually.
On defense, I play 100% on ball..with no slider adjustments, and I guard to tendency.
There is no magic tricks involved. I have run the CPU off of the court, I have barely beat them and I have also lost my share.
Ive had a great competitive balance between myself and the CPU..on default all star.
I cannot speak to how everyone is playing..but if you are getting hammered by CPU runs routinely, and getting smashed on the boards consistantly, the problem isnt the game...its the user, refusing to adjust the way he is playing.
seems like some ppl spend more time complaining than playing the gameNBAComment

Re: NBA Live 10 Patch Impressions (360 Patch Only, PS3 to Follow)
Your right as far as I am concerned. Not saying the game is perfect but I thought this game played real well when i bought it Oct. 6. I am praying that ps3 does not get the patch at least yet. I was playing alot in a dry run dynasty practicing until roster were updated. I found it very competitive on all star. I won a few with my Pacers and lost quite a bit but never did I think that it was not my fault. This game plays a lot like real life NBA where runs exist you have to learn how to combat them just like a real coach. Some night you will just go cold from the floor or you will make poor judgements, just like real life. I am hoping EA gets the rosters with the invisible man in chicago fixed so I can start playing again before the patch comes out on ps3 because I dont want to take a chance downloading it and not have OT and all the other issues I am hearing about.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Patch Impressions (360 Patch Only, PS3 to Follow)
I can't put my finger on it, but ever since downloading the patch I'm not finding the game fun anymore.
It felt like the game "rewarded" me for playing sim pre-patch, but doesn't anymore. Example: If I switched to an off ball slasher/jump shooter, called for a screen, got open, called for the ball and put up a 15-foot jump shot just like I see in real life, it was money. Now it feels like a coin toss whether the shot will go through the net or not. This is the persistant problem with basketball video games from the beginning - you can never count on an open jump shot going in, therefore players go for the highest statistical chance of scoring points - a track meet dunk contest.
I was praising the hell out of this game pre-patch - everything just felt right. For the first time in my basketball loving life, I felt like a basketball video game actually played right. Now it just feels like every other basketball game I've ever played - which means an unclear objective of "playing right" and still winning.
Basketball is my favorite sport to watch and to play in real life. But in video games, basketball is usually the sport I never play - can't put my finger on it, but it feels like there's no strategy or chess match going on. Now NBA Live 10 feels like that too.
On a different topic, how come "clear path to the basket" fouls don't result in free throws? Also, it seems if a player gets fouled in a non-shooting situation, but throws the ball up AFTER the whistle blows, the player gets to shoot free throws. WTF?
In my opinion, the only things the patch should have fixed is people being able to have a single player shoot 19 for 40 on 3-pointers, fatigue, and sub issues.
I have also noticed post patch that players who are waiting in the corner for a 3-point shot now come in towards the paint when you draw their defenders away from them. Example, Leandro Barbosa is waiting on the wing for one of his open threes, I (playing as Steve Nash) run into the paint to draw his defender away, and then freestyle pass it to Leandro. Only problem is, Leandro is now running into the paint with me back towards his defender - whereas before he patiently waited on the wing unguarded for an open 3.
I also think the "back down" button (clicking R-stick) should be limited to close to the basket situations. Sometimes I accidentally click down on R-stick while performing dribbling moves with R-stick, and it looks absolutely ridiculous to see Steve Nash in a "back down" stance at half court. This is like Ghost Recon mapping the gun zoom-in button to clicking the R-stick where the R-stick already controlled your camera/looking around. What happens is you run into an opponent by surprise, both of you running past eachother, and instead of turning around to kill or be killed, you're both in zoom in mode, or "panic zoom" by mistake.Last edited by bakesalee; 10-28-2009, 05:46 PM.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Patch Impressions (360 Patch Only, PS3 to Follow)
I'm sure they'll fix the major bugs, so I'm not going to comment about those.
I really loved this game out of the box. Really loved it.
The patch added so many new things... it just feels as though it needs one more patch to refine, tone down and tweak all these new additions.
Devs, you've made an awesome game. Please give it that extra spit and polish it deserves.
Whilst the fixes all look good on paper, I just didn't think it was that broke in the first place.
No more new stuff. You've know got all the parts you need for this year's game. But please, just one more patch to refine it.
Bring back that beautiful out of the box feel. *
* I know it wasn't perfect out of the box, but you know what I mean.Comment
